- The members of the Dutch band Diesel tell about their song 'Sausalito Summernight'. A short documentary by Top 2000 a gogo (Dutch Public Television) from 2003. The interview is in Dutch, but has English subs in RUclips.

I'm 54 today and the reenactment of this song is on my bucket list. Buying a beater car and driving from Mississippi to Arcata CA. I WILL probably really dump it in the Bay and hitchhike the rest...arriving at Bayside! Thanks for this great song!

When he mentioned Steve Miller I remember when I heard this song for the first time that’s exactly who I thought it was singing it! It definitely has that Steve Miller flavor to it.
Een geweldig liedje. We speelden het toen we in de jaren 80 op onze onderzeeër onderweg waren ... het maakte deel uit van onze reguliere soundtrack toen we op zee waren.
Elk jaar stemde ik op deze plaat voor de top 2000.
Zo leuk dat ik al de plaatsen waar nummers over waren, inmiddels heb bezocht.
In Sausolito is "Sitting on a dock of the Bay" geschreven (zoals de trouwe top 2000 fans wel weten)
Zeer sterk nummer!

I've seen these guys early eighties open air concert in Oosterbeek of all places. I wonder if they remember doing that show in broad daylight, we were sitting on the grass enjoying the music because it was a great band.

Such a silly song. I do remember it though. Thumbs up because I could understand a good bit of the Dutch. My grandmother was German and only spoke German in the house. Thankfully there are similarities.

These guys were incredibly bright musically, when the SONG drove the market. Not the so-called "personality" which nobody older than 13 could care less about.

I'd love to know why they de-tuned the song. It's not 440Hz - the official video is tuned to 453Hz. Makes it difficult to play along with on my perfectly-tuned keyboard. Maybe to discourage copycats.

Its not that special,one thing they say is that they tell about that in their own country ( The Netherlands ) this reach place 33 while it was in USA in many states number one except California.

Man, I loved this song when it came out. The solo was a bit weird tho. I heard him say "Steve Miller", which is exactly who I thought it was for the 1st week before the radio hinted that it was Diesel. Who know they couldn't speak a lick of English
The producer Pim Koopman explained why the guitar solo was weird. The guitarist played the solo and added something he didn't like, so in order to stop the producer from recording he played the whining ta da da ta dada. But the producer liked it and left it in.

Voordeel van tegenwoordige "muziek" is dat de zogenaamde artiesten nauwelijks een noot hoeven te kunnen lezen. Die zielloze shit met de eeuwige beat erin, kan een kleuter ook in elkaar zetten. Enkele uitzonderingen daar gelaten. De jaren 60 en 70 zullen never nooit geevenaard worden qua muziek!
