@@purelight821 I mean no offence by this but that is a very naive take. You think all crimes result in someone getting caught? Most crimes go unpunished.
There have been some interesting changes in characters compared to the original novel. In the novel Dickie Greenleaf isn't really a glamorous playboy with a hedonistic lifestyle but rather a rich eccentric who takes his painting more seriously than movie-Dickie takes his music. Movie-Marge is much more intelligent and sharp-witted and has an entirely different presence than novel-Marge who is passive, less inquisitive - almost naive really - and more following the traditional gender roles. Novel-Tom is already a small-time criminal in New York and plans Dickie's murder in cold blood. Movie-Tom is a much sadder act, he is alone, a pathological liar and obnoxious, but he is no criminal. It is more like one lie leads to the next, and unfortuitous circumstances push him down a road that he might not necessarily have taken under other circumstances. His killing of Dickie wouldn't even qualify as murder but as manslaughter, as Dickie really made him lose all self-control.
Pretty much yeah also desperate cause of his lies have got him deeper and deeper and he thinks its only way out but that doesnt justify killing tho and killing dick was psychopath move cause he only needed to get back to america and find job etc
Aaah yes, i remember seeing this movie like 15 years ago. Great movie, but ending somewhat predictable. Man, do I wish i was able to forget movies and see them all over again.

That ending scene is genious, its a mirror on a CLOSET door shutting on him, as in he will remain closeted.
Wow, I didn't even realize that metaphor until I saw your comment.
He will remain trapped in his own identity crisis, guilt and self hatred.

This movie is amazingly brilliant, It’s mysterious, unpredictable and absolutely uncanny and the acting is incredible👍
i love seeing you everywhere
Maybe its because the characters name is Tom but I feel that if things were different Matt Damon as a young adult Voldemort would have been amazing.
The sequel to Good Will Hunting took a dark turn.
Great synopsis. I wish I could write a narrative like your script. Very cool movie, I have yet to see it, but I will thanks to this recap 🙂
Isn’t the story ruined now that you know all the key points?
