@goosco Fun Fact: This show as so popular that Starkid did another Live version of this show in New York, like, the following year. My friend lives in New York and went to the show. At that show, the audience gave the Daughter the name of Brian Holden. And since this was an off-season type of thing, Brian Holden was actually present at the show, helping with the Directing and Producing and backstage stuff. So, you know how when they break between Acts and Act II curtains up with the Daughter sitting on McDoon's Wagon so she can sing "Lost Without You"? Well, according to my friend, when the curtain came up, Brian Holden himself was sitting on that wagon instead of Jamie. And when Joey came out as McDoon, he was like, "Who the Hell are you?!" And Brian was like, "I'm Brian Holden! Your Child Bride! Let's Do This!" Then they continued on with the show as Brian and Jamie switched spots. I wish someone had recorded that moment.
If I remember correctly, when Jeff originally wrote TTO, the father character was called Jack bauer but he had to scrap it as it didn't really make sense as the point of the game is that people could pick the names of the characters. But yeah, goose was right when they said that an audience member knew about Jeff originally calling the dad Jack Bauer, so that's why he was so happy
Yeah originally the show was the idea that celebrities got sucked into the game, and he picked Jack because he thought it would be funny to have only celebrities and then randomly a guy from a show. And the show kept changing and evolving and the last character written out was Jack. I believe the person who shouted Jack's name was one of the friends who wrote the original skit with Jeff for their college class
I love Joey's 'McDoon/Everyone else', it's so iconic! My favorite is when he plays an entire town😅 There were only 5 members because the rest were on Ani, but it was such a smooth production that the Langs wanted to unite this crew for Hatchetfield. And it turned out awesome! I'm just in awe of the performances, the way Lauren convincingly plays a 7 year old boy, Rachel's powerful performance In 'The world's at stake' (and in general) and the way Joey switches between soo many characters, yet makes them all distinct.
Lost Without You hits me so hard when she sings “I won’t stop til I find you again even if you’re a pile of ash”. Just thinking about how common it was during this time to lose touch with someone and never see them again or even know what became of them… it’s pretty heartbreaking.
This show is the first appareance of a lord in black if it's connected to hatchetfield. On knightmare time 1 ep1 part 2 is were it appeared and maybe they're connected
I always forget how much I love TTTO until I watch it again. I think it's my favourite play after Firebringer. Starkid hits them all out of the park. Every song is a banger. And just the fact that every night they had different names to remember and fit into the lyrics, and the audience actually voted each night on who died is incredible. I don't know how they kept it all straight
I am living for these videos. I put these on as I work bc my unmediated ADHD demands it. It is nice to hear your take on these shows I have watched more times than I care to admit. I need to jump on your stream soon
Oregon Trail came pre installed on my first Razor cell phone. Know the game makes this show so much better😂 The way they worked the game into the show- all the references are so good!! I got to see it when it came to New York off broadway and it was so funny! I took my friend and our parents all of which hadn’t seen the show and they loved !
43:10 lol CH's broken ankle, JB's appendix burst, TM got shot. Sturdy people 44:01 just give it back to Mouthface when they spot the buffalo ; 44:36 like...just give it to MF and problem solved unless they charge
54:02 it's 54:14 it's...valid and emotional argument but how was "I want more food/still hungry but I have to give it to my brother"// "faking your death" // big heart.... the breaking point? 54:33
37:16 this little line/moment just makes me so sad because it's like... Heaps of optimisn (avoidance?)/positivity and then... crack. Undeniable _this isn't going right_ . And everyone knows it Idk how to explain it - it's like the cheerfulness or forced positivity that he's built up just evaporates/breaks
How many have played _The Oregon Trail_ , the video game this show was based on? I had never heard of it when I watched the show; I was so confused by the weird references.
Every time I see someone reacting to TTTO, I always have to comment about the fact I’m the one who yelled Slippery When Wet.
Thank you for your service.
I respect you more than any marine
a hero I respect more than any other 🫡
Fucking legend
i salute you

Same.
It's also funny to see the bloopers how he forgot some of the lines in one show

I love this musical its right behind Holy Musical B@tman. No one ever really talks about that one.
Will say each show of this was different and clips of other names and bloopers are hilarious.
'When the worlds at stake' always makes me cry😭😭

Same, don't know how they remembered the names. So good to hear someone likes Firebringer besides me.

Are you still going to react to Nightmare Time? The whole series is really good
i will be!! (probably in the near future!!)
TTO and Firebringer are my comfort/background shows.
The Trail to Oregon is a real event, and the game was inspired by that, which inspired the musical.
