Now I know what to do with those little bits of spray paint that are always left and I’m to frugal to throw away! I knew somebody would come up with something someday and here you are! Thank you
It's a technique I used in the early 70's custom painting motorcycle tanks and side covers. We'd pour acrylic lacquer from small paper cups slowly onto the water surface (55 Gal drum cut in half...no plastic boxes back then) I'd use three primary colors and black and white... swirl the colors with a thin stick, and then dip the side cover or side of the round tank, which was already base coated and sanded. We would then mask the shape we wanted for the side and spray the base color over the excess. Final trick was to back mask the shape and spray it with candy colors.... excellent technique , but extremely time consuming. we'd follow up with something simple like stencil shapes/images of horseman or skulls... your choice... time waits for no one.. LOL nice post mate
im gonna try but im going to add some silicone to water to hopefully get some killer cells .and if you are unfamiliar with cells .check out acrylic paint pouring.thanks for the vid.
I don't use spray paint, since I'm in an apartment and there really isn't anyplace available but I might be tempted to go visit my son to beg the use of his driveway for something like this. I think the result is really cool, absolutely, with the look of an acrylic pour. Not so much an acrylic dip, which has a softer look, but this is just awesome the way it is.
There is a water based spray paint out there called "Sugar" ... it's more expensive but it doesn't have the odor that regular petroleum spray paints have :-) www.dickblick.com/products/sugar-artists-acrylic-spray-paint/?clickTracking=true&wmcp=pla&wmcid=items&wmckw=01456-1440&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4LWT8cjL1wIVlshkCh2MSACjEAQYASABEgJSf_D_BwE
Oh My goodness, how very cleaver of you. I have seen some woman do this with their nails, but I am too lazy to bother with that....However, this is really wonderful....Big Cheers from Australia...
I works on pretty much everything. I done similar things it with canvas, rocks, Easter eggs, wood using acrylic paint and nail polish though not spray paint. I suspect it's the same.
I took a piece of flat aluminum strapping and bent it into shape ... it has just the right amount of tension that it slides between the canvas and the stretcher bars and holds it tight without ripping or breaking anything :-) ... a couple bucks at Home Depot :-)
What kind of spray paint did you use? I bought some from an art store and tried this and it wouldn’t stick to the canvas. It just globbed up and peeled off😔
I seen this when I first got my computer and thought you were so creative. Now that l know a little more about how to use it l poped you up again and just want you to know that l subscribed and rung your bell. Thank you and i`ll be looking for more videos
Not at all 🙂warm tap water and Rustoleum 2x ... the “Pro’s” limit themselves with statements like that, never say the word “can’t “ 🙂 I say try and if it doesn’t work, change it a little and try again ... I’ve never had any problems with sticking or clumping

What is that thing he's using for a handle?
It is just a piece of metal strapping I bent :-) ... I just slide each end behind the canvas and wood frame
im gonna try but im going to add some silicone to water to hopefully get some killer cells .and if you are unfamiliar with cells .check out acrylic paint pouring.thanks for the vid.

U gonna paint your grandchildren?😟
Thanks for your video, what did you use to hold the canvas.
Amazing!!!!!!!!!!
How does it look now, years later? Did you use any type of finishing product like varnish? Cool idea.
That one sold ... I have several on my wall that have been there for years ... no finishing product and still look bright and sharp 🙂
Yes it does work I was wondering if it works with canvas. I do alot of acrylic fluid pouring I'm going to try this. Thank you

Very pretty. I was afraid you weren't going to get us close enough to see...but you did so thanks!!!
Nice job, very cool!
different and beautiful
How long did it take your canvas to dry? Nice job 👍
The handle To help you hold to dip what did you use?
I used a bent piece of metal strapping and slipped the edges just under the canvas between canvas and frame 🙂
Do u use activator before u put in spray paint, or is it straight spray paint?
Just spray paint🙂
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
What kind of spray paint is it? And does it rub off?
Rustoleum 2x ... doesn’t rub off, just have to let it dry longer 🙂
Where did you get the handle to put on the back of the canvas
I took a piece of flat aluminum strapping and bent it into shape ... it has just the right amount of tension that it slides between the canvas and the stretcher bars and holds it tight without ripping or breaking anything :-) ... a couple bucks at Home Depot :-)
Greywolf Moonsong thank you!! It turned out great!
Is that just water in that tub
Yes :-)
Sir, what brand spray paint are you using?
Rustoleum 2X
I had my doubts with the multiple sprays of paint but it did come out pretty nice.
What kind of spray paint sir
Was the canvas prepped with anything?
Just a regular store bought canvas ... it does take longer to fully dry because of the water
Thank you
Qual tipo de tinta o senhor usa
A tinta é Rustoleum 2x
Hi, I hope you're still monitoring your comments as I wanted to know if you treated the canvas with Gesso or anything before dipping? Thanks.
Pretty much all canvas come pre gessoed. If they are white they have been gessoed
@@ajmorrison55 thanks!
You're welcome :)
No treatment of the canvas ... I DO, however, give it some extra time to dry completely 🙂
@@GreywolfMoonsong thank you!

I saw a post where he said that he uses Rustoleum 2x spray paint.
Pre-spray what you intend to coat with spray paint, like sticks to like.

the pro's say you can't swirl sprayed paint like that and everyone on youtube i've seen the paint clumps if they try to swirl it, did you use borax?

Really nice. Have to wear a mask though. That's the only thing. Really good for a first try! WOW
What kind of spray paint are you using? Acrylic spray paints? Very nice work!
I use Rustoleum 2x but this can be done with any type of spray paint
I assume the paints are enamels?
Yes ... Rustoleum 2x 🙂
I want to do this
Ur spray paints shaded the same like ur clothings.
Gastar tanto en pintura, para hacer algo tan chico?? 🤔$$$€€
It doesn’t cost that much for the paints 🙂I usually use older cans that don’t have a lot left in them for these 🙂
All you're missing is the Grateful Dead in the background
Good
WOW. !!! 😁😃✨🎨
What kind of paint ??!!!! Acrylic???
looks like non acrylic to me, i think acyrilic would just mix into the water ? just causing dirty water ?

That's a Langmuir-Schaefer film. Haha
Without mask protect yourself.. dont worry painters get rich when they die
It's the same thing as what we do to our nails. Never thought to do it to my canvases.

Not to be a smart aleck, most of us have probably been doing this for years at Easter on our eggs
Ha!! Absolutely! :-)
Show it to us up close. I couldn't even see it!

"Painting" would be stretching the truth a bit. Dunk art, maybe. It did look better than I thought it would. With the right colors, it could fit in.
Looks like Lisa Simpson...
To much blue

Hate music in background.
Where did you get the tool to go on the back of the canvas
Awesome
