    It is safer to click on “Safely remove hardware,” when you want to remove your USB flash drive from a computer, than just pulling it out. But, what if this button disappears from the notification area? Don’t worry, we have a solution for that.

    Thanks so much. Restarting Windows Explorer restored the missing "Safely Remove Hardware" icon and fixed the volume icon which was not responsive, so now I can adjust the volume again.

    1:00 NOT ON MINE, there is NO option to 'Stop' , it just
    lists the external drive in 'This PC' .
    1:54 What worked in my case, (the verbiage was; 'USB Disk USB Device')
    I clicked uninstall, and it did. The icon did not re-appear right away,
    it took a few mins, when I clicked the slide out arrow on my taskbar,
    the 'safely eject' icon reappeared. When going back into 'hidden devices'
    the list did not refresh, or include the term or item; 'USB Disk USB Device'
    What is disturbing about this Safely Eject issue now , is that I'm no longer
    prompted or have confirmation that; 'it is now safe to remove device' after
    clicking 'safely remove' lol. It used to confirm.
    NOTE; to others, I tested two ext drives, a WD Elements drive 250 or 500 gb,
    the old spinning type, and when I clicked eject, the spinning ceased after
    about 12 seconds. When I clicked eject, on an old 'thumb drive' that lights up when
    in use, that light went out right away.

    My problem is just the opposite, the icon doesn't want to disappear from the taskbar, even after ejecting the peripheral. This error occurred after a failure to format a pen drive to create a Windows 10 pen drive, where the system randomly created a UEFI volume apart from the other volumes inside the pen drive, and even after deleting that second volume, the problem persists. I have already restored the system to a previous point and it did not solve. How would I go about solving this issue?

    If we have closed out files in our ext devices, via
    closing out folders or any items that we might
    have been working with or viewing, do we even need
    to address a 'safe eject' action? I had been removing
    devices for two or three years since I'd lost my 'safe eject'
    icon, without any issues. shrugs... I thought I'd read a
    couple years back that we no longer need to use a
    'safe eject' issue, I don't know if that is true.. (win10)

    Windows 10 is the worse version of Windows since ME. Microsoft should be ashamed of the themselves! This is just another of 1000s of things that never failed in previous versions but is now failing and worse yet, randomly. Shame on you Microsoft! I've been saying the following on many posts in many different areas. Some very large corporations need to start filing class actions suites against Microsoft to recover lost people hours and loss of productivity due do have to spend hours-and-hours-and-hours troubleshooting and fixing their bugs.

    I opened my task manager and I have FOUR Windows Explorer {explorer.exe} processes that seem to be running under the Processes tab. Only one of them seems to be using CPU power though, a very small percentage.
    Which one do I stop?

    • @lgasc
      @lgasc 6 лет назад +1

      Stop three of them and restart the last one.
      Note: If you stop all explorer.exe, it will shut down your computer, but it will automatically restart.

    None of the options worked for me. I was kinda doubting how restarting Windows Explorer would work from the task manager, since I had restarted my entire computer and that didn't work either.
    I think the best way to fix it might be to install Linux :/

    • @alg4943
      @alg4943 5 лет назад

      It's possible that you did everything correctly but did not remove the hardware when it should have been removed. You can remove the hardware without the "safely remove hardware" notice, and then plug it in again. The icon should reappear.
