Our Vietnam veterans were treated like crap after they came home, by the public and our govt. They dealt with PTSD ,disrespect, permanent physical, emotional and psychological injuries. My late husband died at age 52 from cancer, a direct result from being in Vietnam.i saw him going thru episodes of PTSD and watched him suffer until the end. My uncle also served in Vietnam. The man couldnt even sleep in a bed after he came home. He told me stories about a few of the situations he had been in that gave me nightmares. We should respect and honor every Veteran who has served. RIP Wesley. RIP Uncle Lee😢❤
This film does bring up the serious issue of ptsd, really well in fact. I totally agree ur guys were treated terribly coming back from Vietnam. Very sad. I've always respected any soldier, but I'm an ex squaddie from England. At least now they get the respect they deserve and there's much more understanding.
I agree. When I graduated in 1980, the first thing I did was Vote for Reagan for president. I can't stand disrespect of our great military. I loved this movie. My cousins all fought in Vietnam, and were proud veterans. All my many uncles served in WW2. My own father was a Korean War Marine veteran.
I think this movie helped change how people felt about our Vietnam soldiers. America was mad because we lost, and blamed the soldiers. The greedy politicians were to blame. People were pulling for Rambo. All he wanted was kindness and a meal.
This movie also started the whole "Viet Nam burnout" genre, making some think that the veterans were dangerous killers that couldn't turn the war off. A movie like _Born on the Fourth of July_ had a much more positive impact on giving those returning soldiers respect.

I think people despised them because we didn't win. Like my friend told me, you can't eliminate what you can't see. They lived underground. We were used to fighting heads up. They would wait till you walked by, pop up from under a fake rock, and hit you from behind. Plus, they used children.

Some movies never get old This is true story of thousands American soldiers how local police treat them after retirement. Why soldiers don't have much respect then courrpt police officer.
This came out in 1982, right after I moved to Washington state. I was living in a small town called Issaquah, right at the base of the Rocky Mountains, in western Washington. The trailer park I was living in had a trail that cut across the highway, or, you could walk a half mile down the road and walk under the overpass. Naturally, I chose the short trail, the very reason it was there. After crossing the completely deserted highway, 7:30 a.m, very remote town, I saw a police cruiser, lights flashing, siren wailing, heading out from under the overpass, flying. I thought, "That can't be for me?" It headed down the street I just reached, roaring towards me. I thought, "You've got to be kidding me? Seriously? Here comes Barney Fife!" He slammed his brakes on, skidding to a halt, blocking my way, jumped out, yelling at me to spread my legs and put my hands against the car, no hello or anything. The local "Sheriff Teasel" was arresting me. He cuffed me and placed me in the back of the squad car, informing me anything found behind the seat was mine. I said I hoped he had checked it good before arresting me. He gave me that Teasel smirk, while I enjoyed my free taxi ride tour of the town center, ending up with him escorting me into the police station. There, his deputy fingerprinted me, which I have never experienced before, while Teasel ran a background check on me. Disappointed nothing came up, I was locked up. An hour later, I was grilled on "What the hell I was thinking in crossing a limited access highway?" Say what? That's my big crime? Like Rambo, I don't like being pushed around. Unlike Rambo, I am just 5'8" only cub scout training on my resume. Having seen Rambo recently, I thought about demanding "a good supply of body bags" if they didn't immediately release me, chose prudence instead. They fined me 25.00 for crossing a limited access highway, and, fearing my surly look, no doubt, released me.
RUclips hasn't learned this concept. They crap on the military, they crap on Vietnam vets, and they have taken a crap on my brother's grave. RUclips owes the military an apology and every person who has ever loss someone in the military.
Respectfully submitted... given the background of the Vietnam experience... given the story... given the acting of all especially Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy this film is in my humble opinion the most profound film ever produced.
yep ive been there,,,hope, british columbia,,approx an hr away from downtown vancouver if i recall correctly.....the clue was in the movie when rambo first enters the town "holidayland"....smaller sign underneath says "welcome to hope"...

C'était de vrais bons films, pas de chichis de synthèse et 3D,pas de super héros seul contre la galaxie au scénario infini. De l'action sociale pure 👍🏻
Superb!
Et ouï😊pardi
what a nostalgic movie !!! Sylvester Stallone was the best action actor in the world !!! ❤
80 Z AND STILL KICKIN ASS, THIS IS THE CLASSIEST MOVIE FROM '82, AND TERMINATOR THE CLASSIEST FROM '84, 80 Z FOREVER !!!!
Thank you for supporting my beloved brother Stallone movie! We appreciated from the bottom of our hearts! God blessed!
Finally a movie worth watching...

Terrific movie from my young adult years. If I could go back "For Just One More Day."
and do what?
@@lonelybro77 To escape the reality of today.
I would do it, too.
There shouldn't be any shame in longing for the past.
I remember watching this movie as kid back then, but never understood a word out of it because English was my language barrier at the time. But now, am a fluent speaker and it's good to hear and understand what was going on
Yep it feels good when you can finally understand things, especially if you've worked hard for it (like learning a language)
I have this movie on VHS and DvD but I still enjoy watching it on RUclips 😂
My favorite movie all time. Moral of the story is leave the quiet ones alone
No, it was keep bad police officers behind bars, they violated all his rights in a minute
No, moral of the story is don’t mess with the green berets.
who had the Rambo knife back in the 80s with compass at the bottom and fishing line and hooks inside the handle and fire starter good days
Yeaaaa , had to give mine away…. Hit my best friend on the head with a shovel (by accident) and had to bribe him so he didn’t tell his mum 😂😂😂 good old days
@@Jay-zc7iq 🤣
Stallone’s performance particularly in that speech near the end with Trautman is an outstanding piece of acting. What a great movie which drew attention to the way Vietnam vets were treated and had to battle with the effects of PTSD.
This movie is easily one of my all time favorites, and the best I've seen all year. Remember folks, RESPECT YOUR COUNTRY'S VETERANS !
Oh wow! This has got to be Sly's best movie, ever! That last scene, that speech, he nailed *PTSD* perfectly!
There was nothing PTSD in this movie. It was screw around and find out.
Rambo: You know where I can get something to eat around here?
Teasel: Sure, friend! There's a place right down the street. It's on me.
Rambo: Gee thanks.
Teasel: Don't worry about it.
End of Story.
In reality possibly but movie is movie
Nah Rambo would say "Thanks alot"
That scene wheee he’s talking about his friend and when he starts crying and leaning on troutman is a powerful scene
Old days will never come back
THAT being said, in my opinion, Cher said it best, "If I could turn back time!"
That is a feature of time
Be like Rambo and adapt to your surroundings
I’m 51yo and have been waiting for this to be on you tube! This movie is what made every kid in school wish for a rambo knife! One of my favorite movies ever.
A classic movie thank you
I was looking for it some time ago but couldnt find it and now it just popped up in sugestions. Now I see it was added 11 years ago lol.
Great classic movie, Thx.
One of my favorite movies can watch it over and over.
A true masterpiece, full of meaning and inspiration. It has many parallels with Gladiator.
what a classic film one of the greatest rambo knock out
I am 55 years old but I still love watching Rambo I watched it when I was 12 years old
i just love all the rambo movies. it is so sad how the veterans were treated - after all they lived through. 😢
thank you for uploading this great movie!
I think people despised them because we didn't win. Like my friend told me, you can't eliminate what you can't see. They lived underground. We were used to fighting heads up. They would wait till you walked by, pop up from under a fake rock, and hit you from behind. Plus, they used children.
I always believed that Sly is one of the greatest actors ever and this masterpiece is the best proof... I really don't care what other people think First Blood is a masterpiece and Sly's best movie
Some movies never get old
This is true story of thousands American soldiers how local police treat them after retirement.
Why soldiers don't have much respect then courrpt police officer.
Ahhhhhhh, the good ol 80's...... appreciate yous all
Legendary piece of artwork 🎉
"Only their skilled training and police enforcement techniques saved their lives." 😂🤣
Awesome story dude, was genuinely entertaining. Not as much as the movie, but still good. Fight the power 🤘🏻
The most thoughtful of the Rambo films. Good casting. Good script. Jerry Goldsmith excellent music as always.
Thank you, 3 days ago I was thinking about watching this film..and I've found it here!❤
It's about time, you guys finally play this movie the right way from one end to the other!
Brian Dennehy is a magnificent actor. One of my favs. He played this part so well.
I'm pretty sure this was what's called his breakout movie.
Dennehey I mean.
He made me hate him in this movie
Yeah,galing..🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
I remember going to see this in 1982 at the movie theater. It brought back a lot of memories. this may very well be the best of the series!
Está película desde niño me iso jorar y asta hora yo sigo viendo la XQ soy fanático de rambo y es mí película 🎥 favorita desde niño
The scene in the mine with the rats crawling on him gets me every time.
be kind to people. who knows what hell they are going through.
RUclips hasn't learned this concept.
They crap on the military, they crap on Vietnam vets, and they have taken a crap on my brother's grave.
RUclips owes the military an apology and every person who has ever loss someone in the military.
This movie & hard times, an old one with Charles Bronson are 2 of the best oldies
I m aldy 62 y.o. still watching those iconics heroes
What's "aldy?"
@@XNY556-Apple a lady?
Breaks my heart to see how our vets were treated.
Bryan Dennehy is a wonderful actor!
Nobody can play an asshole like him.
@@jackinabox8497 You're both right.
Ive been looking for this movie on RUclips for so long. Glad i found it again.
The book is better. But this is on my 10 list of best action movies
Respectfully submitted... given the background of the Vietnam experience... given the story... given the acting of all especially Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy this film is in my humble opinion the most profound film ever produced.
I lived there, Hope, British Columbia
It was filmed in Canada in a town in Vancouver.
yep ive been there,,,hope, british columbia,,approx an hr away from downtown vancouver if i recall correctly.....the clue was in the movie when rambo first enters the town "holidayland"....smaller sign underneath says "welcome to hope"...
The best action movie. Dustin Hoffman was considered for the role of Rambo: now that's hard to imagine!
Stallone very unfairly underrated actor.
Underrated he's a Household Name, I don't think yall know how to use that word properly
Definitely one of my top 3 FAFO Movies of all time! Thank You Mr. Sylvester Stallone!
La mejor película de Silver Stallone. Sin dudas,la actuación,la interpretación del soldado. La mejor.
This 55 yr old guy seen this movie in the theater, when it came out.
Just watching it again.
Great movie.
This film should be used in training new cops to show the results of bad policing. Everything that happens to the cops in this film is a result of their own unlawful actions.
Truly realize what a phenomenal talent Stallone is, when John Rambo breaks down in the final scene of the film, in Col. Trautman's arms.
Had tears down my face.
Bravo 👏👏👏
Rambo 1 was the best out of all the Rambo Films the rest were just violent fantasy’s.
That is because it followed the plot of a pretty decent book. It is a story, not just an action movie. It is also, like the book, called First Blood.
