Sound great, but what happens when a cat knocks a cube out of the bowl and starts batting it about like a hockey puck on your hard kitchen floor, giving the entire room a nice tuna smell?
Thank you so much for producing these professional, intelligent and witty videos that promote cat welfare, certainly one of the few cat video blogs available online that do. They are not only a joy to watch but are educational as well. I can't thank you enough. Cole and Marmalade are blessed to have found such fantastic cat parents.
Recently we had a heat wave with temperatures between 30 and 37 degrees celsius. In order to provide some relief to my two cats, I took large beach towels, made them moist with water and laid them out on a blanket. Due to the evaporation chill the beach towels were always nicely cool so my cats loved to lay on them. The only downside is, that this trick raises air humidity, but this should not be an issue, once you use a cooling fan.
Great idea. I'll have to give it a go. One of my cats sleeps in front of the swamp cooler when it gets over 30 C. The other lies in a sunbeam and overheats. I put the AC on for her. And for me, truth be told. We're all still adjusting to our move from the rain forest to the desert.
this guy is basically the perfect man: loves cats so much that he makes them popsicles, handsome af, has a great accent, ... literally what else do you need
Cole and Marmalade: Well done Human! Give us icy Tuna-Meowshake next time but before that, switch on the air-conditioner and let us sleep in front of it. Now!!!
Eres un papá gatuno increíble, gracias por compartir la vida de tus bebés con nosotros, a pesar de la tristeza de que Cole ya no esté me alegra poder ver sus historias aquí.
I really enjoy watching Cole. He's so intelligent, you can see him evaluating and processing a thought. The sooner we learn more about animal intellect, the better!
Gave it to my cat she just stared at me awkwardly and meowed she sniffed it looked at me and walked away but when I eat she begs me for my food i give it to her she sniffs it and walks away😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I enjoy your videos, man. Thanks. Cole is really handsome and playful. For some reason almost all black cats I've met are like that and I wonder why more ppl aren't adopting them
This is a great idea! I live in India and even during the winter it's super hot! The only cold time of the year is rainy season and of course my cat hates that.
I was just wondering about something like this! My cat is always begging to go outside (I make sure he's within my line of sight if he goes out, otherwise I grab him and bring him in), but lately it's too hot for me, and I'm worried he might get sick from the heat. Thanks for this great bit of info!
hey there, i am a cat mom myself since the end of last year and just wanted to say thank you for all these great videos they are a good motivation for me to give my two babys all the love they need ^^ i have gotten some really good idea through some of the vids, for example, i am building them a permament box fort atm with all the comfort and best hiding spots. keep up the good work!
I'm glad you gave an alternative recipe at the end, because tuna is bad for cats. It's actually an addictive substance for them. Also, there's a lot of people who are saying just giving a bowl of water to cats is enough, and that cats withstand heat better than people. The first is incorrect, and the second is a bit misleading. Cats have a naturally low thirst drive. In the wild they would get most of their moisture from their prey, and if prey is scarce they'll drink more water to make up for it. But people forget that our pets are restricted to the habitats and diets that we provide for them. A lot of people either primarily or exclusively feed their cats kibble, and this can (and often does) lead to dehydration in cats, even when it's not ridiculously hot out. As for cats withstanding heat better...it's true that, generally, cats are fine with a bit higher temperatures than people are, however you also have to take into account other aspects of their environment, like humidity and air flow. Cats, like people, have trouble handling high humidity, as high humidity can hamper their breathing/panting, which is their only method for cooling down. You also have to take into account each individual cat, as they vary in their comfort levels just like people do, plus there are some breeds that simply have more difficulty controlling their own body temperature. Cats with smushed faces/muzzles, such as Persians, often struggle with this, as their short muzzle prevents them from being able to pant effectively. And breeds that were established to withstand mountain winters may also struggle with heat due to their long, thick, double-layered coat of fur. What it comes down to is it's every owner's discretion to understand their pet and pay attention enough to realize when their pet is uncomfortable. If your cat is stretched out on the floor and barely moves throughout the day, it's probably a bit on the warm side and could use a little bit of cooling-off. If your cat is panting regularly, then it definitely is too hot. On the reverse, if you have air conditioning and your cat seems to spend a lot of time curled into a tight ball, especially if it still curls up even when sunbathing by a window, it's feeling too cold and you may want to turn the A/C down a bit, or if you can't do that due to your own heat intolerance, maybe provide your cat with a heating pad to lie on so you can both be comfortable.
As a general rule of thumb, tuna that has been processed for human consumption is really not good for cats, which is what I was referring to originally. Like I said, it's an addictive substance for them, with very few nutrition benefits other than protein, so it's not really worth the risk to give it to them. That said, tuna-flavored canned cat food generally is more flavoring than anything when it comes to the tuna aspect, with a minuscule amount of actual tuna included, and processed differently, so yeah, a small amount of that is totally okay! While you're right that it's best to get food that does list meat as a first ingredient, really, "animal by-products" aren't a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with chicken feet, for instance--even people eat those, you can buy them in the grocery store. And things like ground-up bones and organ meats are actually quite nutritious--bones and the marrow within them are calcium-rich and organ meats are high in protein. These are things a cat would normally eat if it were hunting anyway. So really, most people should be worried less about "animal by-products" and more about filler starches and grains, such as corn, soy, and wheat--corn especially. Of course, feeding actual meat to a cat is certainly the best way to go if it's possible for a cat owner, although caution should be taken when doing so. While raw meat generally is fine for cats, it poses the same risks for cats as it does humans--cats can and do get food poisoning from things like salmonella! Which is why it's advised to never give cats raw eggs. So I'd say most people should probably avoid raw chicken and such as well, since poultry seems to be the most risky meat when it comes to that sort of thing. In any case, I'm glad to hear someone else knows what they're doing with a feline diet! I think feeding a kitty the right things really helps bring out the shine and softness of their coat, along with ensuring good long-term health. :3
KattoTang fish bad for cats? I have never heard something as stupid as this. I guess potatoes and grain and other stuff they put in cat food is good for them. Smh
Great idea! Also, I adore Cole on his little chaise. It's absolutely adorable. I'm going to have to find one (or two...I have 3 cats and a kitten) for my kitties.
I noticed that you often scrape the inside of the cat cans very hard. I used to do the same, but those ones that are lined have dangerous chemicals in them and sometimes small shavings scrape off into the food if you hit them too hard with the fork. Actually once I found peelings! Just a tip... use a plastic fork and scrape lightly so that your kitties don't accidentally ingest that dangerous can lining. Saying from experience!
Hey friends! I know some of you have cats and not dogs (How dare you! Just kidding!) Check out this ADORABLE video by our kitty friends over at +Cole and Marmalade ! Kind of like our fun Watermelon Frozen treats for dogs, they made Popsicles for cats!
I had a long haired kitty like Cole and every summer she migrated to the cool tiles of the bathroom. I froze a bag of water (one of those used for freezing food - about 1/4 to 1/2 a gallon) and put it on a plate in the bathroom... it isn't purrfect but it does lower the temperature a bit more. I also refilled their water bowls often with fresh cool water.
This is amazing! My old lady Lucy has been having a really hard time in this heat. I made one for her with a little bit of her special cat food that she requires and she went nuts! She was licking that cat-sicle for over 20 mins! A nice treat for her in the afternoon when it gets super hot. :-) Thank you Cole and Marmalade! :-) I adore your channel!
Great tip. We're going to have a so called heat wave back here in the UK. Il try the tuna cubes with them. Hillary and Domino send head bumps to Marm and Cole
here in the tropical area, my cats loved to lay on the cool floors, or lay under the shadows if outdoor.. and love hanging out in bedrooms that air conditioned, especially after spending hours outside the house in daylight.
I made these with a mini muffin pan since I didn't have an ice cube tray. Trader Joe's has a Tuna for Cats which is kinda of a cross of tuna and cat food. My cats loved your catsicles! Thanks for the idea.
I bet my chickens & cats would adore these!! Going to try some this week. Tomorrow the chickens have frozen yogurt w/ meal worms for an afternoon treat. And we always put tons of ice in the big water bin outside so everyone has cool water to drink all day. 1/4 water, 3/4 ice.
This is so cute. I live in the U.K. And it was pretty warm last summer. My cat was acting different cause of the heat. She wouldn't play cause it was so warm. Now she's back to playing now it's winter :)
You're a fantastic cat-dad, and those two are lucky to have you! I don't have a cat yet, but want to keep one, once I get my own home. I remember that my dog, who died a few years ago loved to lick ice cubes. I wish I'd done something like that for him.
It amuses me to listen to Chris speaking with the same Nottinghamshire accent as me but using American vernacular. Where I grew up in Mansfield we simply didn't have popsicles or Saran wrap. We had ice lollies or "suckers" and cling film.
Oh dude! I now i will never be cat. But if i were to be cat i would like to be your cat! Cole and Marmelade are so lucky to have you! I wish all the cats and the dogs and all the pets of the world have somebody like you!!!!
Lol i love how you fanned your cat at the end. One time my house AC died so it was about 80-90 degree in the room. My cat was laying flat on the floor. Whenever I had the chance I would fan for her despite me dying myself. Eventually we bought a fan lol
Awww, your cats are really blessed to have you. :)
annapotpot Ah.. But a cat would see it as "Aww, he is really blessed to have me"
Brendan Matthews touché :)
Brendan Matthews We don't own cats they own us! XD
In soviet Russia, you own cats.
canon Grainger ummmm ok?
Man we need more guys like this dude
Life without cats is just something I cannot contemplate.

Sound great, but what happens when a cat knocks a cube out of the bowl and starts batting it about like a hockey puck on your hard kitchen floor, giving the entire room a nice tuna smell?
The cats will lick up everything. The floor will be cleaner than before :D
Thank you so much for producing these professional, intelligent and witty videos that promote cat welfare, certainly one of the few cat video blogs available online that do. I'll definitely try this! Thanks for the tip :)

Chris Mni i ll keep that in mind for our next heat wave!
I get a flannel, wet it, let it cool and then rub them down.
Whoah...and I thought my 29 degree summer was B U R N I N G...
Great idea. I'll have to give it a go. One of my cats sleeps in front of the swamp cooler when it gets over 30 C. The other lies in a sunbeam and overheats. I put the AC on for her. And for me, truth be told. We're all still adjusting to our move from the rain forest to the desert.
I love these two ideas they are great
That's a sofa for cats. Where did you get that? :D
Why wouldn't it be its food that they already eat and as you can see, the cats love it
um...not the food. at the end, there's a kitty sofa.
Oh sorry I read that wrong
lol :)
Yeah I see it cute 😂😂😂😳
this guy is basically the perfect man: loves cats so much that he makes them popsicles, handsome af, has a great accent, ... literally what else do you need

Eres un papá gatuno increíble, gracias por compartir la vida de tus bebés con nosotros, a pesar de la tristeza de que Cole ya no esté me alegra poder ver sus historias aquí.
I loved the way Cole looked at the ice cube early in the video.
I really enjoy watching Cole. He's so intelligent, you can see him evaluating and processing a thought. The sooner we learn more about animal intellect, the better!
geat video.....hey....wait...what about a catnip popsicle...???
Add a little catnip to the catfood popsicle. It looks like cole and marm enjoyed the cat food more than the tuna
LiquidButterflye dude no they'd get too high XD
Gave it to my cat she just stared at me awkwardly and meowed she sniffed it looked at me and walked away but when I eat she begs me for my food i give it to her she sniffs it and walks away😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Super ideas for frozen treats. As usual informative, and two of my favorite cats at the receiving end
I enjoy your videos, man. Thanks.
Cole is really handsome and playful. For some reason almost all black cats I've met are like that and I wonder why more ppl aren't adopting them
Superstitions, some people don'tlike that black cats don't show up in photos as well (how dumb) and other idiotic reasons not to adopt a black kitty
This is a great idea !
Cole and Marmalade approved of your treats 😊💕💕
Love this! Also love Cole's chaise lounge. 😉
Love it! I will try it for my cats. lol at the possibility of tuna aftertaste in your ice cube tray. The possibility occurred to me too!
This is a great idea! I live in India and even during the winter it's super hot! The only cold time of the year is rainy season and of course my cat hates that.
I don't really need to do this becouse of England is just cold and that
Isn't it true that keeping pets is against Indian culture?
I am 100% sure Chris is not only a cat whisperer but a cat guru!
You are officially "Cat Daddy" of the years!!!! :-)
I'm going to try this for sure with my cat. Thank you!!
Thank you for this!
This was so great! I cant wait to do this for myself with the cat food and treats. I'm bet my kitty will love it!
I love Cole soooo much!
Oh yeah, Marmalade is nice too.
I loooove this cool treat idea! I'm definitely making some tonight! Thanks so much for sharing!! Hugs to your cuties Cole & Marmalade!
My cat loves plain ice cubes.
my cat loves flavored pawpsicles
i love this guy, the lengths he'll go to please his cats! i would try this if my cat didn't use ice cubes as hockey pucks.
So coool. Love your creativity about cat stuff.
Cole on his little chaise - what a cutie!
I was just wondering about something like this! My cat is always begging to go outside (I make sure he's within my line of sight if he goes out, otherwise I grab him and bring him in), but lately it's too hot for me, and I'm worried he might get sick from the heat. Such great ideas!! I'm definitely trying this out with my cat :) thanks for sharing!
Can I use chicken in place for tuna? (I have multiple types: Grilled gravy, classic, chunky, and roasted)
hey there, i am a cat mom myself since the end of last year and just wanted to say thank you for all these great videos
they are a good motivation for me to give my two babys all the love they need ^^
i have gotten some really good idea through some of the vids, for example, i am building them a permament box fort atm with all the comfort and best hiding spots.
keep up the good work!
I'm SUPER early :D Love your guy's videos! your amazing ;D
Love the kitty couch! I found a doll couch around 16 years ago that our cats adore. Best use of 20$ ever!
I was eating a popsicle while watching!
That meow at the end...AWWW OW OW OW MY HEART HURTS AAAAAHH
2:49 oh no human spotted me, I must be cute!
Love these two cats! I have a year old ginger named Pipsqueak. Just rescued a month old tortie named Snickers. So I kinda have my own Cole and Marm.
Cole and Marmalade they are awesome!! They are two clumsy ninjas.
Pause at 2:48 IS THAT MARMALADE IN THE MAGAZINE?!?!
OMG! What a great idea. My cat Bubba is always playing with human ice cubes that fall on the floor. He will love this!!

What an awesome idea! Thank you! :)
Just like the popsicles you made at Big Cat Rescue. We make these for our clowder and they love it.
I love Cole and Marmalade!
I did it last night with my daughter Leah! She was so excited to do it!
I've done this with wet cat food tidbits and gravy works just as well that gives a cat's chunks to eat
Love the video & cat summer treats. Plus love Coles new bed! It's purrfect!
These cats sure are lucky! Such pretty kitties
I made these with a mini muffin pan since I didn't have an ice cube tray. Trader Joe's has a Tuna for Cats which is kinda of a cross of tuna and cat food. My cats loved your catsicles! Thanks for the idea.
When Marmalade was all like "Get on with it" I couldn't help but laughing!
I love watching Cole he looks and acts just like my 4 year old cat Saem. 😃. Please keep the videos coming
this is such a lovely idea! Will definitely use in future. You guys are awesome. Love Cole and Marmalade too.
Wow! I'll plan to do same for my stray cats here in Dubai definelty will help them withstand the heat
Thanks :)
Cole and Marmalade are two of the luckiest cats in the world,
I bet my chickens & cats would adore these!! Going to try some this week. Tomorrow the chickens have frozen yogurt w/ meal worms for an afternoon treat. And we always put tons of ice in the big water bin outside so everyone has cool water to drink all day. 1/4 water, 3/4 ice.
Great idea. Cole & Marmalade sure seem to like them.
I have been making my version of these for a bit now. Thank you for the video for me to share.
Cole and Marmalade solid gold has a blended tuna for cats that is good in this. I would have tried chicken but my crew does not like fowl.
Also add pureed pumpkin for fiber and electrolyte water.
This is so cute. I live in the U.K. And it was pretty warm last summer. My cat was acting different cause of the heat. She wouldn't play cause it was so warm. Now she's back to playing now it's winter :)
You certainly look after Cole and Marmalade very well, Chris. They're both gorgeous Cats. Charlie, Aberdeen, Scotland
You're a fantastic cat-dad, and those two are lucky to have you! I don't have a cat yet, but want to keep one, once I get my own home. I remember that my dog, who died a few years ago loved to lick ice cubes. I wish I'd done something like that for him.
Cole is SO FLUFFAY
No wonder he needed those popsicles.
It amuses me to listen to Chris speaking with the same Nottinghamshire accent as me but using American vernacular. Where I grew up in Mansfield we simply didn't have popsicles or Saran wrap. We had ice lollies or "suckers" and cling film.
Brilliant idea, thanks fur sharing and it looks like the munchkins luvs it. 🐈💞🐈💞🐈💞🐈💞🐈💞🐈
OMD I made it for my three cats and they loved it! Thank You so much its amazing
Oh dude! I now i will never be cat. But if i were to be cat i would like to be your cat!
Cole and Marmelade are so lucky to have you! I wish all the cats and the dogs and all the pets of the world have somebody like you!!!!
Brilliant idea, and of course the boys were just adorable, lol!
Lol i love how you fanned your cat at the end. One time my house AC died so it was about 80-90 degree in the room. My cat was laying flat on the floor. Whenever I had the chance I would fan for her despite me dying myself. Eventually we bought a fan lol
Marm dove right in while Cole was so delicate.
