I still can't believe there's never been a collaboration between Sonic and Sonic the restaurant.
Having 2 Sonic movies and no promotion with it BOTH times has to be the biggest fumble of all time.
It's completely unrelated, but I'm sad kiro didn't mention that one pizza hut collaboration in TMNT II.

I remember when Overwatch had you buy Pop Tarts to get one free lootbox. None of the lootboxes I got amounted to anything through that promotion.
For me the most bizarre collab was Sonic x Hooters, it was strange. I think it was between Sonic Forces era.
in the 90's Nintendo collaborated with the shasta soda company to promote the super nintendo and super mario world, they released small cans of soda with mario, luigi, princess toadstool and yoshi, each with their own flavors, mario was fruit punch, luigi was berry, yoshi was apple and princess toadstool was cherry
It's still crazy to me that we got a Sonic X Progressive collab but not a Sonic X Sonic collab

I was obsessed with the pokémon Pop-Tarts and cereal back in the day.
The classics I'll always think of were:

I don't know if it was just me but halfway through the sonic ihop promotion the switch version of some of the games weren't available for the rest of the promo
I got the Amy Diner outfit skin from a giveaway and she looks so kawaii 🥰
Last year there was a collab between "Honkai Star Rail" game and a russian pizza-restaurant chain "Dodo Pizza". God, it was a DISASTER. First of all, you could get some limited merch like special acrylic figurines and bages, yet it was only given if you visit the one parcticular small pizzeria in the center of Moscow. It was shoking how long were the lines, the restaurant even had to cut off the pre-order to take-away option from this restaurant and even shortneded the working hours of the restaurant. You could get a pizza in a themed box and a ticket with an in-game promocode if you ordered online, but I remember I only got the promocode because my local restaurant ran out of themed boxes. The fans were furious, the restaurant's social media were full of negative comments... That's not how you should do a collab.
Can't forget about the Mario odyssey cereal with a built in amibbo
But I like Poliwrath! Hypnosis and Focus Punch will always be a fun combination.
The best thing about the Nintendo cereal is actually the advert. It goes "NINTENDO! It's a cereal now! NINTENDO! It's a cereal! WOW!". Ever since I saw that video I began calling Nintendo a cereal whenever they did something that I don't like.

I recall there being a collaboration between Pizza Hut and Crash Bandicoot for a few commercials. In the 90s
I recall one of the guy in the crash costume telling some kid to turn the pizza around for their stuffed crust. I don’t think they did anything crazy with it, I think it was really just to film a bunch of commercials which have Crash in it.

The Sonic x Hooters one Sega did for Sonic Forces will always baffle me. And before anyone mentions SONIC Drive-In, apparently, they hate the blue dude so they actively avoid being associated with him.

Also for the Sonic Movie 2 they have a Sonic and Knuckles Xbox one controller has blue fur on it and the other controller had red fur on it that you could of won if you went to the Sonic Sweeptakes event they had at thw movies I also remember They had a Super Mario Odyssey Cereal and back in the day they had limited edition Sonic cereal and a Pacman one

The most boring collabs
A lot of early pokemon merchandise featured poliwhirl and its evolutions since they were still figuring out which pokemon will be best suitable for a mascot.
Poliwhirl was on a LOT of old advertising for whatever reason. I used ti have an old bed set that had Poliwhirl front and center on it
It's because the original artist really liked poliwhirl/poliwrath.
That is cool. Poliwhirl is actually my favorite Pokemon. I am one of those weirdos.
At first, I thought it was some sort of japan-related reasoning, because the Pokemon Adventures manga featured Poliwhirl as Red's first pokemon. But I dug deeper and it turns out that the creator of Pokemon, Satoshi Tajiri, had Poliwag as his favourite pokemon!

Surprised you didn’t mention the many collaborations of Honkai 3. They’ve been doing those since 2016, and recently a New York exclusive bubble tea event at Debutea
I remember having Pop-Tarts and Pokemon Cereal during the Johto era. I think they were reissues of the ones shown here, just with new Johto era packaging. I remember the Pop-Tarts I bought had a Pichu figurine you could put on your pencil. I think they call these "Pencil Toppers". I believe there was a Totodile and Entei as well. I never got them.

My biggest memory of food collabs is needing to buy those big party variety packs of Lay's to get exclusive Skylander's. I got them all, but that was quite an investment for a twelve year old, and waiting 4-6 weeks on shipping made me feel like I was going crazy!

Somehow I was not aware of this IHOP special. It could be because every streaming site I was on at the time I watched without ads except peacock premium had ads and I never saw any ads for this IHOP special. It's also because at the time I was without a vehicle so I just somehow was not aware of this thing going on at IHOP with Sonic. That actually is really cool. I like those meal ideas.
I think to go along with the Sonic paradox joke when they made fun of shadow in Sonic adventure 2 where instead of him saying chaos control, he says chaos Swiss roll and he turns his chaos emerald into a Swiss roll and loves it. There needs to be a shadow the Hedgehog Swiss roll😂
