Great stove, exactly what i'm after making, but i'm going to try adding a water jacket to heat my workshop. Nice to see a professional at work, using safety glasses and NOT wearing gloves when using power tools.
Love it. Really do. Far too many "rocket" stove videos out there that are just chimneys, not rockets stoves. I would love to build this. Now all I need is a completely outfitted metal shop and some degree of metal working skills and I'll be all set.
You can do this with just a $20 angle grinder and a homemade welder. Dont know how to use a car battery and a welding rod? Harbor freight sells a fluxcore welder for $90. You dont need a full on metal shop to do anything. It is lack of creativity and ambition that's your problem not lack of tools.
@Jsuttian You dont know what you can acheive when you havnt even tried ? why presume you CANT make the above and need a full workshop ? get some scrap tubing and a cheap grinder (£20) and get someone to weld it for you (and learn something too) ? or get a cheap welder and LEARN YOURSELF, then one can do the miriad of other projects on here like welding cars etc etc ? i got a welder for £20 on ebay , i fixed it (was just the switch) because someone just like you couldnt be bothered to look into the welder problem and presumed they couldnt fix it ! i once found a Dyson vac that wouldnt suck .........found 2p stuck in the hose.........fixed ! all because a dumbass like you couldnt be bothered to look into the problem and presumed they couldnt fix it ! as Fletch above says "It is lack of creativity and ambition that's your problem not lack of tools." aside from being a dumbass
Okay I built one in my shop last week [based off the best design I could find on youtube] (your video! - and I made it just like your design) and it works so good, it's amazing! Super clean burning, hardly any smoke at all - only a tiny hand full of sticks to cook breakfast in the mountains! Way-to-go man!
Wow, i have been watching rocket stoves for hours, and this is just perfect... simple, very effective, and clear step by step.... U have certainly won a new sub.
Hours? I need years. (Then I'll finally gather up the shattered pieces, throw em away, & walk down the block to my neighbors fab shop, show him this video, wait a few minutes and voila 😁🤣🙄
Stove looks and works great, Question, as for the science behind it, does having a longer air intake tube or longer 'chimney' affect how it burns? Does it increase the airflow/speed?? Wanting to make a compact one but dont want to sacrifice Utility it if will make it harder to burn or not as hot.
Great Questions, in all honesty i have found that adding a flap to regulate air flow is the best way to get an efficient burn, also having the air intake facing a source of air flow (wind, fan etc) helps with efficiency. Have a look at some of my other rocket stove videos for more detail. Thanks. Jason
Thanks for sharing your building Jason! For those watching it could be even cheaper if you use sticks for welding instead of your fancy MIG that not many of us have! LOL. It works GREAT!. See you.
Close Jason, but no cigar. Put the feeder a little higher, add a grate below it, and leave the bottom open. Ash buildup is easily dealt with by moving the stove or better yet setting the stove in a canister which can be quickly dumped. Secondary air holes halfway up the chimney might help the burn?
Don Duncan great advice Duncan...this was my 1st attempt at a rocket stove (something I know very little about) I've tried to do as you suggested on my MK3 stove ..the video will be uploaded in the next few hours. Thanks for watching and for your comments.👍
🤔?... Making that sound at the end - I would safely guess there is an air hose in the bottom rectangular-tubing air feed, that we conveniently cannot see within the video frame. 🤨🙄
we used a leaf blower to generate wind, unfortunately there was very little air movement in the industrial yard where i did the 1st burn. So you are almost correct
With all the crap people make, so happy to see your stove with the vortex intake/ cleanout, and the really tall chimney for HOT clean burns and the classic Rocket sound! COOL!!! -Oh, any recommendations for getting some cheap SCRAP? I don't have a shop like yours...
Thanks Bubblerings :) if you find a shop like mine they will have a scrap bin...most of us are happy for you take odd piece of scrap (normally a small donation to the coffee fund) just make sure you get permission though . thanks for watching buddy
Hi Alexander..i've got a plasma cutter, but i tried to make the build as simple as possible with basic tools so viewers might try to build one themselves. the evo saw is awesome, but the blades cost a few £. thanks for the view and great suggestion buddy :)
Such a quick and simple DIY project - a great use for leftover scrap metal, too! Have you been welding for a while? You can tell that it's not your first time in the workshop! 🙂
good question. the air flow is drawn up the exhaust which keeps the flame flowing up. the wood is burned in such a way that it slowly drops into the burn chamber.
this was my 1st attempt at a stove, i later added a flap at the back to clear it during use. my later stove videos have taken this into consideration. Thanks for your comment Balraj
Waste plastic from soda bottles could be processed into a continuous filament like 3D printers use and be fed into a rocket stove making it automatic like a waste oil modification I have seen elsewhere.
Hi Bill, this stove used 120mm od pipe for the main body ( I think) i believe it was around 80cm high also. check out some of my more recent rocket stove build..those ones are far more efficient.
I was wondering if such a design could be used to burn waste plastics. In Nunavut, Canada the people in charge of the city dump burn plastics on the open air when the wind blows away from the town. People have all sorts of problems from breathing in the toxic smoke. Would a rocket stove design work for plastic disposal or would the melting plastic gunk up the air intake ?
Thats a great question, sadly burning plastics is never going to be a good idea..it destroys the environment and would gunk up the whole stove. we are stuck with plastics for the time being and each of us should be encouraging our councils to sort them properly for recycling, there is a massive industry based on recycled plastics, paper, card and wood but it all takes effort from everyone. did you know that your council could get paid over £125 a tonne for cardboard? if they send it to landfill then they may as well be burying your tax dollars.
This is a global problem. Entire earth, environment and oceans are affrcted. Not only human beings, even elephants in forests and all those living things in oceans are also SEVERELY affected by plastics. Something must be done by scientists also.
I have been wondering what to do with my "scraps" that would cost a normal person about £50 GB, just got to finish building my pro DIY fabricating shop, and, when I have a spare 5 mins I will knock one of these up. I really don't know why everyone with 5 mins to spare would'nt make one.
Steel prices have risen quite substantially since i made the rocket stove, however you can still buy/ pick up scrap like this for less than a tenner in Wales and pretty much anywhere else. I do indeed have a pro workshop but i made sure to use normal everyday day tools that most Home workshop metal workers would have at hand, chop saw, grinder and obviously a welding set etc. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. When i made this video i had a very small channel (Less than 1000 subscribers) much like yourself, and trying to figure out what the RUclips audience wanted to see was and still is very difficult however this particular video proved to be very popular. I wish you all the best with your own channel and it's content, you won't always please every viewer but it's the interactions that help your channel grow, comments like yours, negative or not are always welcome. Jason
I'm guessing it took 5 minutes just to cut that oval out with the cut off wheel. Good video, thinking of building one just to have if power goes out or shtf.
Good job!!! Love the theme music too!!! I remember that movie I heard it on too
So satisfying watching the chop saw slice through like butta. Loved the slo-mo too. Great project !
the chop saw is one of my favourite tools in the shop :)
Nice job!! Easy peasy
Great stove, exactly what i'm after making, but i'm going to try adding a water jacket to heat my workshop. Nice to see a professional at work, using safety glasses and NOT wearing gloves when using power tools.
I was hoping no one would notice the glove issue ..thanks buddy :)
your fire tube and movements pleases me , ty
Love it. Really do. Far too many "rocket" stove videos out there that are just chimneys, not rockets stoves. I would love to build this.
Now all I need is a completely outfitted metal shop and some degree of metal working skills and I'll be all set.
Thanks for the view and the comment Jason. Lots of second hand hobby gear out there if you want to get started on the cheap 👍
You can do this with just a $20 angle grinder and a homemade welder. Dont know how to use a car battery and a welding rod? Harbor freight sells a fluxcore welder for $90. You dont need a full on metal shop to do anything. It is lack of creativity and ambition that's your problem not lack of tools.

i got a welder for £20 on ebay , i fixed it (was just the switch) because someone just like you couldnt be bothered to look into the welder problem and presumed they couldnt fix it !

as Fletch above says "It is lack of creativity and ambition that's your problem not lack of tools." aside from being a dumbass
Yeah bro, with just an angle grinder and a welder, a million things can be made, fixed or modified. They are in the list of must have tools.
That is on of the best designs I have seen. Very Cool.
Thanks you Joshua
Best design that I've seen.
a true rocket stove ! you can tell by the sound it makes, like a metal forge burner .
Thanks Wow
Einfach ohne viel gelaber gemacht und gezeigt. Ich mag solch Format.
Vielen Dank. Ich finde, das ist das beste Format.
Great video! Thank you for allowing us to hear the sounds instead of music!

spiral air feed - great for super clean combustion - very nice!

Well Jason that one neat little stove
thanks Wade
Dapur ni melayu yg cipta..hebat.
Awesome little stove there Jason. I love the sound it makes.
Thanks Mr Fences :)
Great job. What you can do in minutes others need hours to do same job 😊
Just posted basically the same thing. 👍
bio!
Hours? I need years.

Real Cool, and Ya got a vortex going in the bottom. Hotter!!!
Awesome going to build mine tomorrow now!!
How did you get on J MAN?
reminds me of a bong.....well done..........
nice work, thanks for the video
Looks like my future pool heater
Thanks for making a no BS video...
Thanks for appreciating it Steve 👍
Like always nice job
Thanks Bernie
Great sound quality
That was a quick one mate.
Can't believe you're only just seeing this one Pat..been up for years lol. Thanks buddy
Quick-quick, fast-fast! That's my kinda rocket stove!
Great job, thanks for sharing, left you a thumbs up👍🏻😊 Happy Weekend
thanks Shirley
Well my friend I’ll have to build one. Brilliant that is. Cheers👍👍👍👍
great Tim...please video it though brother!
Spat beer all over the screen with the slo mo hammer shot!!!
Great vidio
Good day to you, your proyect is the simplest I have ever seen.
The simple things of life are the best
congratulations
Thanks Roberto

Nice Top !!
Thanks!
Nice build they look really good them rocket stoves
kicks out some serious heat too
i love your speed !
Hey great idea. I can churn out one of these things really quick with my everlast welder with the scrap I already have.
Well done any pocket ones left
only made the one sorry
Clean and will try
how does one put a cooking vessel on this?
This one was not intended to be used..it was project to see if the principle works..check out my other rocket stove builds for more practical ideas
Thanks for sharing your building Jason! For those watching it could be even cheaper if you use sticks for welding instead of your fancy MIG that not many of us have! LOL. It works GREAT!. See you.
Guy doesn't even wear gloves til he's welding. Hardcore
MAKE EM.. SELL EM!!! I want one
will do :)

Now that beats a concrete bucket any day. Sho nuff.... :)
Awesome Job!
Thank you Annie
what kind of blade do you use in your cut off saw?
syandard evolution rage blade..it has carbide tips.
did you calculate volumes and diameters, or did trust the first things you founds?
Had to make it with the scrap that was available.
@@MakeItMetal the result looks great!
excellent...a drum over it with a low attached smoke pipe could heat a room
Great idea!
Thats got some good draft to it.
Nice!
Thanks!

Nice one!! You have serious skills!!!
Thanks Clive :)
looks good Jase
cheers Wayne
Nice video my friend!
thanks Buddy
just checked out your channel...wow..i love food! subbed!
Very good vidéo, thank You.. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍
you're welcome. thanks for the support
Sei un artista!!!!!!
Complimenti davvero!
molte grazie amico mio
What's the pipe diameter

KISS Keep it Simple It and Straightforward Very Good
Always!
Bom trabalho...
I've wondereed why there aren't more builds using round pipe. seems to work well.
I think its may be because the time it takes to cut and prep the pipe is a little longer...i'll try to make one in pipe soon
В круглых трубах застревают дрова.
nice equipment and skills - and i love the editing - I do not watch lengthy videos - this was lean and mean! I subbed
Awesome, thank you!
How do you keep the intake from clogging up with ash & coals? That’s the problem I’m having
this one was experimental..you can see how the design develops in my newer videos 👍
I love your evolution saw. You should get yourself a powerplasma cutter. It would do away with cutting circles with an angle grinder.
thanks Mano..ive been welding for about 30yrs buddy
That's fab! Keep up the good work, Jason :)
Question. . How does the fire go straight upward and not burn it's way up the fire wood and comes out the other way?
good question. the air flow is drawn up the exhaust which keeps the flame flowing up. the wood is burned in such a way that it slowly drops into the burn chamber.
Thanks. .
Excellent work. I am from Iraq. What is the size of the tube in ing.?
Have you tried this design with all part square tube? Maybe 5x5?
not exactly like this but if you look at my other rocket stove videos you will see how they have changed from this one. thanks for the comment :)
Nice, but how do you clear it out?
this was my 1st attempt at a stove, i later added a flap at the back to clear it during use. my later stove videos have taken this into consideration. Thanks for your comment Balraj
Waste plastic from soda bottles could be processed into a continuous filament like 3D printers use and be fed into a rocket stove making it automatic like a waste oil modification I have seen elsewhere.
Possible to coat this iron with mud clay, for children safety purposes .
Nice.
I tried to make it but doesn't work. Please tell me the dimensions and diameters of tubes.
Hi Bill, this stove used 120mm od pipe for the main body ( I think) i believe it was around 80cm high also. check out some of my more recent rocket stove build..those ones are far more efficient.

Where do I send the royalty check?
Thanks for this simple design.
I have enough of that kind of scrap to make about 200 of those.

Very nice work!
we will do very soon Joel..keep checking back to the channel for updates
Very Nice 👍
Thanks Ailton
Please show the vortex?
I don't have this stove anymore. Maybe in a future video. Thanks for your comment 👍
I'm guessing it took 5 minutes just to cut that oval out with the cut off wheel. Good video, thinking of building one just to have if power goes out or shtf.
That's a tidy looking rocket Jason, you have some mad skills my friend. Could do with one of those for when the family goes camping! 👍
i'm thing of making a few different ones..smaller and larger..possibly a deluxe model too :)
Great work Jason! - Love Rocket Stoves!!
Thanks Howard..ive wanted to make one for ages
Nice handling with the grinder
I think it's the best rocket stove, because the air intake can make a vortex inside the burning chamber
Yes. the flame comes out with energy and speed.
