- As temperatures soar across the nation, it's important to stay cool. Lifestyle guru Erika Katz recommends freezing your bed sheets to cool off during the nighttime. She also says drinking hot beverages and taking hot showers helps your body sweat, cooling you off. Other tips include soaking your feet in cold water and dabbing yourself with a mixture of witch hazel and body wipes.
Thank you for explaining that you need to put the ice cubes in the freezer, I’ve been putting them in the oven all my life
But have you been adding blueberries 🤨
Me too! 🤔
I’ll go get the hot beverages
You mean you DONT cook your meat in the freezer either?? Man I learned a lot from this lifestyle expert
Yeah, exactly! Lifesaver! Been doing it since I was 0.000000000001 years old!
OMG thank you Inside Edition for these life hacks.
I'm gonna use NONE of it!
Why not?
Thank you for Informing
Well said, High-5
Thank you so much. Eating fruits and vegetables with water. Loose fitting clothes. Light colored clothing. Sunglasses and a hat. Cold treats.
Alternative: *Make a home out of Liquid Nitrogen.*
No way I’m taking the advice to drink hot water beverages or hot showers
Some tips to survive heatwaves.
1. Eat a lot of watermelons and cucumbers.
2. Drink a lot of water & coconut water.
3. Cold shower 3X a day.
4. Bring your portable fan everywhere.
5. Sleep naked.
P.S. I live in a tropical country btw.
Put the mister or sprinklers on when it's hot.
Water the garden then put a big ice cube out at night in the coolest part of the garden or outdoor area. It will cool down the night and the next day.
Then put another ice cube out early morning and water again.
Having many ice cubes in the freezer makes the freezer nice and cold too
Thanks lady who probably has more air conditioners than everyone in the UK.
I know for a fact she has frosty cool central AC in that beautiful house!
This design is very human!
Feels like two little girls on summer vacation
Their Electricity Bills: I'm IN DANGER?
Debts: Oh?
Well good afternoon good people of the youtube comment section. *waves*. I love learning new stuff like taking food items like rice shoving them in socks and taking allegedly clean rice filled socks sticking them in freezer for cold packs. All I have to say dinner planning just got more interesting. (Hmm stir fry is good kind of taste like fee.)
Guys i think she wants us to put it right in the freezer
oklahoma is literally that meme of the dog sitting in a kitchen drinking coffee saying it's fine while the house is on fire
I did a life experiment on difference taking cold and hot shower. I always take hot shower during hot day because it feels like I'm wearing heat proof armor, whereas taking cold shower causes your body to feel like you're an ice cream and melting during hot day
As soon as I saw the thumbnail it made me think if 5 minute crafts payed them to do this
Why you don't use dry ice now you can put water and use the fan
So patronizing.
tips to use stuff we don't reilse that can save our day
In hot weather I take a cool shower and drink cold water , Gatorade 🚿
Looking Pretty while Saving Lives... Cute!
Sock: you don't know where I have been 🤢
I think if you sweat you dehydrated yourself thus allowing your body to not be able to have a mechanism to cool yourself this making you overheat more?
Blowing ice with a fan 🤣🤣🤣I wanna see how that smells
I know about hot shower warms the body faster and removes hot sweat than cold shower. Cold shower works doesn't remove hot sweat. it stay sticky and feel yucky.
Heat wave happens all over the country
Hawaii: nope
What would we do without her, we'd all be zombies walking around absolutely clueless 🤦🏽♂️
Question is, do they work?
I just migrated north during the summer
Umm cold air sinks so how tf is that fan thing gonna work when all the cold air is stuck in the bowl?
Not only do these creatures have central air, but obviously memory foam cooling pillows. I also do not believe these creatures have ice trays -_-
My hot flashes keep me cool
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Sorry, I never new that Europe was unaware how to handle heat........
Nice and cool for 5 min XD
I LOVE a hot cup of tea on a hot day!☕...but a hot shower?🤔NO thanks
I came up with put your foot in a bag with ice for 10 seconds and you’ll be cold
Lol
I'll just stay inside with the floor fan, ac and ceiling fan on.
Wow
What if you don’t have ice or ac ?
Killed it🥴
Those sheets will literally only stay cool for maybe five minutes after being taken out of the fridge though.
Exactly. Silly lady
Then sleep in your freezer. Problem solved! Yay!
@@Kevin-sm8pn If I could fit I probably would. 😂
I won’t say they won’t but has anyone even attempted this “hack” ? 😂
And then after you moving around like monkey putting that bedsheet on your mattress you will sweat and have heatstroke 🤣
This looks like something 5-Minute Crafts would do
Lmao
as someone who lives in a tropical country that's pretty much summer all year long, please drink cold beverages and take cold showers. be nice to yourself lmao
Yeah who the fuq wants to sweat after their shower? I just tried to get clean by showering and now I'm sweaty and smelly immediately after
@@winterwaffle16 especially during sleep
exactly, dont listen to those looney Libs...Stay cool not Hot
All them Arabs with their coffee and tea in the desert 🐫
From personal experience, I wouldn’t recommend taking a hot shower during a heat wave because it will only make you dehydrated and dizzy.
well good thing ur not a doctor like the guy on the video was I'll take his advice thanks tho
@@dontrah1838 a cold shower would lower your body temp, thus nullifying the need to sweat to cool down. Just take a cold shower and air dry. Problem solved you lower your body temp and get the evaporative cooling without the sweat. Don’t need to be a doctor to use common sense.
Thank you for explaining to take it out of the bag and use it after. Never would of figured that out.
😂😂😂😂😂
THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING WRONG!! It helps though when I pee in the bed not to get the pee on the sheets though....
now step into the bag with one foot....
@@mamarobyn 😂
@@mamarobyn ay yo got any of those sheets 👀
The hot shower and hot drinks don't really help in areas with high humidity
Because sweat basically doesn't evaporate in high humidity
It helps me
I feel like every time they make these moisturizing or swamp cooler type effects for life hacks they feel like we all live in the desert places that live near the coastal ocean like California Florida Hawaii etc could never cool down with moisture in the air because there's already moisture in the air these tricks work in places like Nevada maybe the only good advice they put here was freezing the bed sheets and pillows maybe.
@@Emily20133 what's your humidity?
And will induce dehydration
@@a50ftfall6 80
NEVER use anything hot on someone at risk of heat exhaustion or heat stroke! They're usually unable to sweat, so this will make them worse, not better. Also, using heat on anyone is not a good idea. Anything that uses sweat to cool a person down gives them a risk of dehydration. Using heat is all round bad advice. Your body should not be encouraged to sweat more than it would by itself. For context, I'm an advanced first aider & a health scientist.
I figured, taking advice from a "lifestyle guru" doesn't sound like the best course of action
Frfr 🤣 dude telling us to sweat more 💀 he telling us to get even more hot to stay cool while I'm hot ☠
Hi. Just a question please. I sweat a lot naturally. I’m in good shape. My fitness is good. I train in mma. But I sweat literally 2-5 minutes into the workout. It was really hot in the Uk on Monday and Tuesday. And in the evening wrestling session. I was dripping with sweat within about 7 mins. And I trained that morning already. So already sweated that day in the morning. But the evening session. I was dripping more. I’m literally the only one who drips with sweat. Everyone else does sweat. But when I train. On the Matt you can see loads of sweat on it. Compares to others. Is this an unhealthy thing to sweat to much ?
@@jimmybaldwin737 hey, the amount you sweat can be genetic and doing exercise in the heat we've had in the UK will make it worse. I highly advise changing your method of work out while the temperature is 30°c+ like swimming inside of run, weights or really anything else as the water will cool you down and you won't dehydrate so quickly. Also drink plenty of water especially if you sweat a lot
@@jarndrekinn1904 The guy was a doctor and he said you can use heat too. I'm still going to use cool drinks and showers anyway😂
Idc what I’m not taking a hot showering during a heat wave!
same here
I mean who likes to be sticky and sweat when sleeping.... Such great advice
It seems like she’s been threatened to show these heat hacks
I get dizzy and have fainted from taking a hot shower. Do not recommend.
"Put it in the freezer"
*Shows her putting it in the fridge*
Yeah that was a bit ...😃
Damn, please don't follow these "health gurus". I'm a trained medical professional and I can tell you absolutely 100% that hyperthermia is NEVER treated with additional heat. But didn't need me to tell you that, your human instinct always tells you to take a cool shower when you're hot.
Never trust anything where the source is "trust me bro."
when you get sweaty during sleep I can never sleep when I SWEAT
Yeah I never drink hot beverages when its hot. What idiot came up with that idea. Its only common sense to drink cold water or take cold showers. The house we live in doesn't have any cold water in our shower so we have to take hot or warm showers. We need a plubmer lol. I hate summer.
What’s up with that doctor …..
Former medic here, Do not listen to those crazies!....Stay hydrated, monitor your body temp carefully, find some A/C
Sleep inside fridge thanks me later
Remember that Simpsons episode where homer use the fridge to cool off?
How do professional people in production make this , watch it , review it and publish it
Because they all have AC
cuz they rich to have ac
Just put ac on man
yup they must not have a ac
"Pop some ice cubes for a refresher"
"Drinking warm beverages cools you down faster"
nice
😂🤣😅
I used the witch hazel method once after giving birth. It was phenomenal
I have never heard of it. What is witch Hazel?
@@alexsera3966 it’s and oil
it was soooo good you used it one whole time?
Oh, I thought that by hydrating yourself regularly and staying inside while it's sweltering would help you during a heatwave. Apparently, I was wrong all along.
Hahaha 🤣 right
I stay inside in the summer 🥵 and the winter 🥶
As an Asian, rice is gold. Don’t use rice like that!
Agreed, my parents would be scolding me all day if they saw that craziness....
Nahhh im definitely gonna do it now and then just to dry my feet
@@idgafijwtmitg lmao....let me know how dry it gets.
Legit. People work so hard just to make you rice and they’re just using it as a budget ice pack.
I live and work in Death Valley, CA. It's 120 degrees as I type this. Let me give you some advice. Move slow when outside. Don't stay outside for very long. Avoid alcohol drinks because alcohol dehydrates you. Drink lots of water and drinks with electrolytes. And here's the biggest one. Have AC!
On a side note.... your body does acclimate to your environment. I visited my dad in Phoenix where it was 108, and 108 felt comfortable to me because my body was used to 120+ degrees. When I went to Michigan where it was 85, I felt a little chilly.
I don’t have enough money to buy an AC 😞.
How do drinks with electrolytes help during a heat wave ?
I'm from Brazil. There's nothing better than having quick cold showers. 🤭 Not way my having warm ones.
During the heat wave I’d rather drink a cold beverage for breakfast because I don’t wanna burn out for drinking a hot beverage where I wanna enjoy eating breakfast drinking something cool during the summer.
Wanna eat soup? 😂💀
No one's forcing u but ok
@@Liyahhbabyyy who said anyone was forcing him? Don't be so dramatic, woman.
Waiting for dude with feet fetish 😂🤙😂
And most importantly, prepare for extreme temperatures. Go for long walks in both gradually hotter and gradually colder temperatures. This is my strategy and i can handle extended periods of anything from 20F to 100F in summer clothing.
And drink water you might be mentally withstand it but water solves most internal damage and water bottle or even two is a must for such walks surely
What? Rice in sock? Asian mom will go full Jubi mode
I aint drinking hot drinks on a hot day
“Pour water into the ice cube tray”
“That’s a great trick”
😂😂😂
😂
😅
I dont like hot drinks but if I did I’m not drinking them when it’s hot. Also obviously if you’re saying a hot drink cools you down by making you sweat then it heats you up first to cause the sweating. Getting hot in general makes you sweat so you could say a hot room cools you down faster than a cool room because it makes you sweat. Brilliant logic. 🤦♂️
The next cold season they'll advise us to get cold drinks cuz it'll make us shiver more thus generating more body heat 😂
@@giantalaskanworm719 xd
Honestly it's like saying the best way to survive a heatwave is to go out at noon and roam in the extreme heat so that you can sweat and "cool down".
Not to mention that sweat will only cool you down if the air is dry enough to evaporate it. She’s just giving people in high humidity environments a recipe for heat stroke.
So let me get this straight take the sheet out of the bag?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bruh
The sweat thing won't really work in places with high humidity, though.
Thank you for explaining everything. This will keep us safe during scorching hot weathers.
No it won't lol

Um is this a joke? Their pulling five minute crafts trick Fr.
wouldn't people collapse from a heatstroke from drinking hot drinks and taking a hot warm shower and the bowl of ice and turn on the fan is a good idea and soaking your feet in a big bucket of ice water to keep cool.
That's crazy to see how Florida is on the lower end for heat. Feels like hell here already.
Nope not drinking a hot beverage or taking a hot shower. ✋🏻🙅🏻♀️
Ok, don’t do that then. 👊👨🚀
the cold sheets will warm up real quick and will make you very uncomfortable , dont bother
I love how the counter and floor had more water on it than that ice tray did. Great way to cool off I guess
Won’t your sheets get soggy though?
No because you’re putting them in a bag
Home shopping network? Lol. This feels so animated lol
I'm surprised at the amount of people who didn't know this before hand... kinda sad tbh.
Ah yes I totally want a wet sock on my body.
Nope
All the voices in this video were irritating, cept the host she was alright 😊
I appreciate Ann trying to come up with a report with helpful tips for us but this was a swing and a miss. All but the rice-sock thing were just silly, especially the chilled sheets. By the time the bed is made, the sheets would be back to normal temp. And I can’t believe an actual medical doctor recommended a hot shower in a heat wave just to make you perspire. Potentially dangerous for some people, especially the elderly, and environmentally wasteful.
I like the blueberries in ice makes drinking water more exciting.
They have to be joking about hot tea and hot showers 😂
Hot drinks when already sweating,No Ty
ya ya!!
5 minutes crafts be like:
I'd rather spit on myself than use these life hacks.
Sheets stay cool for 30 seconds, good luck
Problem is, i get so exhausted when its hot
