This week is officially Shorty Appreciation Week :) I have many more videos and things planned for SAW (as a horror fan, I apologize for the acronym for such a festive time, lol), so stay tuned! I had an orange tabby she went death at 18. Lived to 20. Does your cat go in a room by herself and start meowing very loudly,? My cat did that . She went 100% deaf within 3 months. She slept alot more and became much more docile. I miss the cat her name was Buffy.
I have a Cornish Rex. Yeah, she does that from time to time. But more often she just comes up and yells to be picked up/petted. Especially at night) I don't know when exactly she went deaf, as for a long time I thought she was just ignoring me (it's very much in her character). But at some point I realized that she was not only unresponsive to my words, but also to loud noises. She also has started to sleep a lot, has pretty much stopped getting outside for a walk and has developed problems with balance (loses her balance when you pet her, falls off radiators and windowsills, etc. Hopefully she'll be here for a while - she's been with me for 2/3 of my life and I can't imagine what I'll do without her.@@Jeff-sp7bg
@@Jeff-sp7bg In any home they quickly figure out which area has an echo, or the best echo, and that's where they go to howl. I've had cats for 60+ years, and they all do it. Some people said, "You should get your cat fixed!" But they were ALL fixed! Male and female. It can be a symptom of distress though, so if it's very persistent, they need to see the vet. If it's just occasional, that just means they're letting off steam, and it's nothing to worry about. I you probably already know that, but I wrote it for the other people who might read this.
I'm very sorry for your loss of Buffy. That must have been very hard. But you did a fantastic job taking care of her, for her to live that long! My last cat died at only 16, which makes me so sad. But my favorite cat ever lived to around 18. She was a tabby too, and losing her broke my heart so badly! That was 20 years ago, and it still hurts. She was such a sweet little baby. Did you know that female orange cats are rare? I've come across that info from several different reputable sources.

My grandparents had a black cat and a Grey Macaw. The funny thing is that my grandfather caught the cat in a town nearby because my grandmother was sad that she couldn't have more children, they had 10 sons and daughters, go figure. The cat was named "Sombra", the Spanish word for shade/shadow. She was really attached to my grandfather and my grandmother said she was like his shadow following him wherever he went. The cat lived to be 30 and outlived both my grandparents. My father put her down because she was no longer able to walk and had difficulty eating. The Grey Macaw, which I kept and brought to the USA, still calls out for her to this day. Over a decade and a half of her passing away.
My cat, who died at 21, sounded almost exactly like this. He was amazing. It's like I heard his voice again.
My cat went at 19 years old. He did the same crying as this cat in the video and sounded pretty much the same
Shorty started out with such a sweet kitten meow. As she got older from year to year her meows got louder n longer. At age 5 I noticed her meow was starting to mature. Shorty age 13 is still vocal but her meows are changing to an older cat. May Shorty continue to meow n have a long life.
Yes, her voice starts to deepen and get a bit more scraggly, lol. She really came into her queen era

My cat who has passed away, his name was Butterz, would pick up towels, socks, and clothes and drag them around the house while meowing super loud. He did that every day.

In cats, old age begins at least 10 years, as for me.
My cat lived to 21,5 years. She passed last year in October. A persian, very vocal and very similar meow with a slight roar in it like this one. As she aged you could slowly see the it took more effort of sorts to produce sound so we can hear her. After 15 or so she started to reduce the volume since she simply didn't have the strength anymore and she developed back problems. After 20 she roared very silently and so sweet. She would come almost next to some of us and then produce a sort of moew whisper combination to gain attention, and also became very cuddly at old age, looking at any human that would sit in range for warmth and cuddles. She would mostly sleep, eat and purr. A cuddlebug like no other. I hope yours too reaches such incredible age.

@@spidev Yeah. I got her as a 3 month kitten. she was born cca 20.04. 2001. and the hardest decision was made 03.10.2022. 9 in the morning. She had a stroke, nothing could be done anymore. We took best care of her we could. I would like to believe that she enjoyed the ride with us and had a good life. It's been over a year but it still hurts.

@@vanillabatbones We all cried for days, but in the end we adopted the philosophy that she lived a good life since those are very good years for a cat and now she lives on in our fond memories. It does sometimes hurt to remember but i personally focus on the happy memories. Still don't have the strength to adopt another cat. Probably when i move house.

While watching this video, my cat too began to scream lol she’s soooo loud all the time! She’s only 4yrs old just talks and screams constantly so I know I have at least a decade of screaming to look forward to 😂

Twenty-six years is rare for a cat. My grandmother cared for several dozen and the eldest three were 21, 23, and 25-26 when they passed.

My cat skittles was very invested in this video. She watched the whole thing with me purring - shes also 13 this coming april. Shes the most friendly cat and she even started headbutting the screen and purring like she was trying to say hello to the other cat. Shes always very quick to warm up to any animal, so it was cute to watch her interest in this kitty growing up 😊

Enjoy EVERYTHING about her. We only have them for a short time. I have a female, named Victoria, who looks just like yours, but she’s dying. The vet said she has extreme anemia & asked us if we’d like to put her down. We prefer to have this time with her as the vet said she was not suffering. A beautiful large cat previously has become a shadow version of herself. Sad. ❤️❤️🙏❤️❤️

I used to have a cat who'd meow like that at my dad from outside the bathroom when he was in the shower so he'd meow back & the cat would get pissed off & start meowing louder & longer.
I had a cat like this in my 20s and didn't appreciate it. Now I'm an older person with a talkative kitty, and i love him.

My baby is 20 and started the screaming about 10 years ago (she is perfectly healthy even at her age). Sometimes when it gets to much I just tell her to knock it off & I can get quiet time for about an hour. I'm going to miss it when she is gone.

I was scared that you were going to end with her passing away, but I'm glad that she was doing okay. I hope that nothing has happened to her since the video. I've lost five of my precious babies due to old age over the last three years, as well as my mother, so it makes me both really happy and really sad to see other people's little old kitties living their best lives...

Amazing how every cat seems to have their own individual voice. It's not as easy to notice with videos, but I live in a house with four cats and I can almost always recognise which one is meowing immediately.

Her meows when shes ten years and older remind me of my cat Spooky's. She passed away earlier this October, so the meows tug at my heartstrings. We thought we had found her when she was a kitten, but really she was already 9 when we took her in, she was just so stunted growth wise. We were all shocked when the vet told us she was actually about 18 years old when she passed, we had put her at only around 10 years when she had a stroke and had to be taken in to be put down. I miss her, and I hope you get to have as many years with Shorty that we did with Spooky.

I love this. I lost my cat back in October who was my screaming cat. I have 3 other cats but it is too quiet in here without his screaming. He was 15 when he passed.
Legends say this adorable cat will always be meowing, and if not in this life, they shall continue meowing in our hearts.

My cat was 22 years old when she died. I miss her. She has a difficult mood, she was feral and agressive, but i miss her because she was also rock solid, 22years without illness or injuries, she suffered only during her last weeks. Time is the only thing that was stronger than her.
