For people who still think they were "racist" or "sexist" you're wrong. Slavery wasn't outlawed until Abe came around because if they tried to outlaw it just as they had come around to building their own nation, the nation would be split and would go into a civil war just coming from a war. And slavery as bad as it may sound was the economic stronghold of the southern states. In fact, they had even considered outlawing slavery but due to these reasons they had to skip over that part. Major decisions like these would inevitably lead to abrupt chaos and it wasn't their fault that it would. It was just the ideals of those times, what was expected. Its just considered controversial now because views and opinions keep evolving. We shouldn't look at history with the lens of the present and scrutinise the past. Its true slavery and lack of women's rights are a huge shame and blot on american history but there was nothing they could've done to change it. As someone who is not from america i admire the founding fathers and the lengths they went to for their ideals
They didn't believe in racial equality. All men are created equal never applied to non-white men. Yes even honest Abe never believed black people would co-exist with white people
Valkorion the Dragon of Zakuul Yes it did. There was some sort of bill or law in the Early 1800s(I cant remember the lesson I was in) that didn’t specifically say only white men. It just said free men. Some sort of voting thing. And I’m pretty sure it was under Thomas Jefferson/James Madison. And you forget that’s slavery was illegal in every northern state.

I find it hard to believe one can loose his family and such famous last name and then reemerge without knowing you were related....I mean, it hasn't been that long...Thomas Jefferson died in the 1820s and the last signing member of the declaration of independence in the 1830s that's 30 years prior to the American civil war, the last American civil war soldiers died in the 1950s...that's really not so long ago....maybe 4-5 generations....for example I remember my great-grandparents and they told us about their parents and great parents, they took us to their graves and their last names and how they use to tell them stories about life in the world before cars and electricity....so again I find it hard to believe this people didn't know they were related to such famous individuals...but ok.

Why did this have to have a negative slant?
