+scirockalot8v yaaay i just happen to have one in some closet forgoten for years actually i have an entire DX6i too in a closet forgotten.. because its crap
thank you peter even almost three years later just used this video to bind the transmitter from my new inductrix fpv that I bought from my local sportsman warehouse to try out fpv (all my local hobby shops are out of buisness) to a slightly broken night vapor plane I was able to fix that I recently picked up from facebook market place for 10 bucks and it worked thanks to your video now I have two great functional backyard flyers
Thank you Peter for telling me that this simple transmitter is Spektrum capable. But. By hooking it up to my six channel plane, this transmitter is actually six channel, not four! These extra two channels can be achieved by pressing the left stick (flaps) and the right stick (gears). I found this very useful because with this, you do not need to buy a big six channel transmitter. Instead, there's a cheap one right in front of us!
Peter, a similar but 3ch Tx came with a very cheap 2.4ghz heli. mounted main rotor motors with 54mm props on wings (CW+CCW), tail rotor motor with 38mm prop horizontal near tail section, board and battery under the canopy of a cheap EPP "chuck glider". no servos or control surfaces but flies great! comparable to the Duet, about 20 bucks spent. it does have a downside, no tail rotor elevator power if thrust-steering motors not powered, but easy to get used to the dead stick gliding vs maneuvering with power.
Thanks man, I started an RC club at my highschool, and now that we can use the rtf transmitters too, its going to be so much easier getting people in the air :)
Am I right in thinking that this was Peter´s first solo presentation of an episode of Flite Test? If so, congratulations, Peter; I loved the steampunky look of your Tx box.
Cool project peter, I saw on my old champ TX that it was Spectrum DSM2 So I was able to bind it up to the $6 OrangRx but, I never wanted to go back from a computerized radio so i never did anything with it. However, knowing now you can reverse the channels is vast improvement. I'll have to look if someone has designed a 3d Printable case for this. Although the wood is way cool.
Great vid, Peter, I thought about using one of these as a gimbal controller but went with an old 5e instead. And yes, my las has a box full of these things. Great coslay too, that is a great animated short.
Nice hack Peter! didn't watch till the end, you had me hooked at the first sight of that circuit board! I'm rippin' my spare controller apart right now and going to 3D print a new case!!
The right stick when pushed in toggles a two position switch on channel 5. I just started using this controller on a micro quad running cleanflight, you just need to change the rxrange in the cli interface to match the output range of the Blade controller.
Very Helpful. My first plane (the Hobby Zone Champ) actually has that controller. It was neat to learn new tricks for it. My Champ was having trouble throttling up, for some reason, and I was able to fix now by doing the reversing trick.
+X-FLIGHT101check out Dynamic foamys - www.profileplanes.com/ - scratch building micro planes is tough because foam board is a bit heavy. I don't think they push it very much either because the parts are pretty expensive for how flimsy they are. Here's a thread - forum.flitetest.com/showthread.php?17813-Ultra-Micro-Builds! - give it a try.
X-FLIGHT101 Go to flitetest.com and create an account. Just hit the question on the forum and you will get tons of responses. I have been building the mini series which is a step above micro. I just don't like the quality of the micro parts. It can surely be done; just a bit more challenging.
Excellent ideas !!! Do you when. Can download the manual of the transmitter. The only programming instruction I have found is this video , I wonder I you can share the manual where you learn how to program it , thanks !!
I would love to see a more detailed DIY transmitter with more functions. This is a great start. I'm also wondering how they got away with using your likeness? Cosplay my rear end... that's you dude!
Hello Peter, question I have mjx t40 copter but the radio is lost can this copter work of a different radio if so which one tnx and hope you can help because your the rc wizard ...
Hi Peter, Thank you for this Video. I have a quick question appreciate if you can please address. I am using the same Blade MLP4DSM transmitter to bind with fly sky model number FS-R6B receiver, but i am not sure why it is not binding. Are they compatible? Any suggestions on binding much appreciated.
Hi this video is very informative especially how to reverse controls on mlp4dsm - I have the mlp4dsm and struggling to use it with an eachine qx100 (dsmx receiver) - I need some help on how to set it up. Do i need cleanflight for this - The bianding is fine but only the controls are reversed.
Great job FT and Peter. This is the sort of content I like. Could the spectrum transmitter module be hacked to run on a taranus? I hear mixed reviews on the orangeRX module.
+civicex5speed Yes: johnprikkel.blogspot.de/2014/07/jr-dsmx.html But I had problems with an MLP4DSM module. It worked fine with a DX4 module I got from eBay though. Unsoldering is a little difficult, but you can get it out with some patience.
I had one of these little guys and was doing THIS VERY THING already! I was going to make it big enough to house an INductrix and some spare batteries. Mindreaders.
Does the paper airplane have magnetic actuators for rudder? Neo-magnet micro bit-charger car servos save lots of weight but are bang bang off/on. You can wind the coils to activate them.
I have a LP5DSM transmitter from a blade cx2 helicopter, will this transmitter work with your receiver kits? I want to get started but limited funds . than you
Great video! Looking forward to the dxf files - also, would REALLY like a video done on that paper airplane design - is that depron or poster board? Electronics? CG? Thanks!
Any chance of flying a wing with something like this? That would be awesome with the race wing I just ordered. Could keep it in the back of my Jeep until I felt like flying! :O
@FliteTest hey I want to start fpv and I own that Transmitter , because a vew years earlier i bought an helicopter, is there any way how I could Connect that Transmitter to my PC ? Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english
okay so I'm starting out and this may be a noob question but is there any way to get a controller/transmitter and recover for under 20 or 30 dollars? thanks
I realize this is very old, but if someone's watching...I have a MLP6DSM that binds fine with Spektrum rcvr. But servos reversed. This process doesn't work in this situation. If you know of a way that does, please advise. Thanks, jerry
Mr peter .hello. im from iran .have a question: this air plane specification? For example:motor dimension-propeller dimention -air plane dim... and weight with battery.... tanks
What's with the shirt and tie? Where's the real Peter? This is an AWESOME find. Thank you for sharing. My next 130 will fit in a lunchbox. Will this bind to lemons?
You really seem to know your stuff, maybe you can tell me how to bind a proto x fpv transmitter to a blade inductrix fpv pro. I am so stumped cannot find literature to walk me through.
Does anyone know, can you access multiple modes on these, like having angle and rate mode on a microquad? Has anyone bound these transmitters to a LemonRX satellite?
I bound this TX with my RC Car (Axial Yeti) and it wouldn't turn the wheels to the right. The left was fine, but It would only turn right about half way..
Hi Peter Thank you for the video - brilliant you could always use nylon nuts for the back plate fixings and by the way get rid of the music (you don't need it)!!!
+Jad Collado (Battlemach1ne) I think its because it was pre-wired for use with x4 AA's, which are cheap and have enough power storage for the task at hand. If you wanted, you could probably do that tho.
+Jad Collado (Battlemach1ne) in theory that would work, but the problem with LiPos is they really don't like being flattened .... and i would guess a simple transmitter would not have a low battery cutoff. So AA's (or AAA's) are just fine.
What can I say ? The guy is amazing .He allways comes up with off the wall projects.Really enjoy his videos
thanks peter, all the transmitters just went up in price on ebay.
XDD

Cool
wow show us a build video of that rc paper plane, what kind of electronics you used.

what was that little paper airplane you were flying +Peter
yes Peter, would be very interested to know about the little paper plane
Yes can you do a video on that
+Mike Baucum Agreed!
YES!!!
+Mike Baucum please make a video about that!
Thanks man, I started an RC club at my highschool, and now that we can use the rtf transmitters too, its going to be so much easier getting people in the air :)
Fantastic video, Peter! What a neat little transmitter, such a cool style.
Good video Peter. I wonder if anyone has designed a compact 3D printable case for these yet...
Peter- we need a video on that paper plane!
Am I right in thinking that this was Peter´s first solo presentation of an episode of Flite Test? If so, congratulations, Peter; I loved the steampunky look of your Tx box.
This is why I'm so glad to find this channel

You could probably modify it to fit inside an old Walkman. You could use the drive rollers for gimblas and it already has a battery compartment.
That is actually a very good idea, I might try that at some point.
John, yoi forgott Cena!
Great vid, Peter, I thought about using one of these as a gimbal controller but went with an old 5e instead. And yes, my las has a box full of these things. Great coslay too, that is a great animated short.
Peter is a very smart guy!! 👍🏼 Thanks for the cool info Peter!
+Sharklops AMEN to that. Lol. I didn't think about that. He was really shy at first when he joined the team.
+Sharklops I was thinking the exact same thing :)
Thanx for the reverse control tips. Just finished simple cub and using eflite xmitter. All controls were reversed. Great info.
Nice hack Peter! didn't watch till the end, you had me hooked at the first sight of that circuit board! I'm rippin' my spare controller apart right now and going to 3D print a new case!!

Peter, YOU LOOK GREAT !! Keep it up. Now your content and YOU are on the same page.
Now, come on, Peter. Give us the plans and build info for that paper airplane too! :-)
So this means I can use my Inductrix transmitter with an scratch build! This is perfect! Thank you so much Peter!!!
Can you do some micro scratch builds? With the electronics from umx planes?

+X-FLIGHT101 Good idea
Peter seems like a great guy. Good job!
Great video Peter, we need some footage from the event please
Wow! Had no idea that it could bind to larger recievers. This is great! Awesome find & tip! Thanks! :-)

Urhh, Mr. Peter, the link somehow isn't working😅...can you provide the new link please?
Hello Peter, question I have mjx t40 copter but the radio is lost can this copter work of a different radio if so which one tnx and hope you can help because your the rc wizard ...
I have that transmitter with my Horizon Blade Nano QX, what is the model of that paper like plane. Looks kind of cool.
Would be great if you could use these mini transmitters as a wireless trainer.
how and what did you use to build the air plane in this video
Perfect, I have a E-flite DSM2 Transmitter from a broken Blade counter rotor heli, I might do this. Thanks Peter.
Do all Spektrum receivers work with the Blade transmitter? Also, are there any other compatible receivers for the Blade transmitter?
Peter that is the best thing I've ever seen good one
Hi Peter, Thank you for this Video. I have a quick question appreciate if you can please address.
I am using the same Blade MLP4DSM transmitter to bind with fly sky model number FS-R6B receiver, but i am not sure why it is not binding. Are they compatible? Any suggestions on binding much appreciated.
That's awesome Peter tnx. BTW, Anyway to boost the signal coming out of the TX?
You could swap it for a full power tx if you run enough power to it, the pin out is the same.
Would it be possible to mod replace the spektrum module on it to a full range one? It'd be cool to have a really small full range transmitter.
Probably, I hope the power line can handle it.
+Chase Wood If current draw was a problem, all that is needed is to solder a heavier gauge wire to the positive and negative.
I was thinking about the actual power supply, I'd imagine it would be okay but it should be tested under the heavier load bc planes.....
Chase Wood I think it would be just fine, batteries wont last as long if modded, but you could use rechargeables.
Link is broken in description

+Nate Shanklin Thank you! I spent a long time looking around but never found the right combination of keywords to find this!
+Jonathan Pruett not a problem, I just stumbled across it.
Thanks dude. I think this will work with my remote like it. Makes the right ones work with
Cool idea Peter!
from where you have bought the circuit of the transmitter can you please send me the link of it??
Would the Dromida ominus transmitter work with this?
Good video!
hey peter i have an idea you know the super circle plane well do that but have a propeller in the middle
what is cheapest possible plane you could build including a battery, servo, motor, charger and transmitter
Another cool one, Peter. Not good enough for a raise or bonus, but Josh should give you a key to the executive restroom. It is indoors isn't it?
Any chance of flying a wing with something like this? That would be awesome with the race wing I just ordered. Could keep it in the back of my Jeep until I felt like flying! :O

I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but I can't help but think this thing would be an awesome platform for a steampunk'd r/c controller. =)
Nice job Peter!
okay so I'm starting out and this may be a noob question but is there any way to get a controller/transmitter and recover for under 20 or 30 dollars? thanks
why not use two nylon nuts on the bottom two screws?
I have question. does the mixture program work for v-tail aircraft or the wing aircraft?
thats cool, i acutally found a way to reset everything by pressing throttle down trim, and rudder left trim.
What electronics did you use on the paper plane?

where can I buy a set of parts like servo remote transmitter and everything except for the body to build my first rc plane?im from saudi an expat
Oh man, the ending was priceless!
how about the plans for that little paper airplane?
I'd like to have the plans for your paper airplane. Put it on the site, please
Peter had me at "and it works with my cosplay" Heck yeah!
Link to the plans doesn't work any longer ... anyone who knows where to find them?
and this can be done wiith any cheap transmitter? ( dromida ominus transmitter?)

Yes. Also to TXs with wireless buddy box.
@@AaronBlake I tried to bind it to my nx6e, but it wouldn't bind. Would be great if it could be used as a trainer. I wonder why it wouldn't bind?

Does anyone know, can you access multiple modes on these, like having angle and rate mode on a microquad? Has anyone bound these transmitters to a LemonRX satellite?
Great video guys!!
As always ur awesome Peter!
you should do tutorial to make range longer.
do you know if you can buy those transmitters saperate
can you please try to build a small plane like that in the video from a cheap rc helicopter? thanks!
I'm pretty sure that people just click on random videos just to give them the "thumbs down".
How can you not like this?
I bound this TX with my RC Car (Axial Yeti) and it wouldn't turn the wheels to the right. The left was fine, but It would only turn right about half way..
Why dont we build a better all in one Arduino ARM transmitter?
Hi Peter
Thank you for the video - brilliant
you could always use nylon nuts for the back plate fixings
and by the way get rid of the music (you don't need it)!!!
Nice Tux peter!
why not just use 7.4v lips to power the tx up?
I had the same idea.
+Jad Collado (Battlemach1ne) I think its because it was pre-wired for use with x4 AA's, which are cheap and have enough power storage for the task at hand. If you wanted, you could probably do that tho.
instead of soldering directly to cells though. he could soldered a connector and just buy a lipo with a small connector
+Jad Collado (Battlemach1ne) in theory that would work, but the problem with LiPos is they really don't like being flattened .... and i would guess a simple transmitter would not have a low battery cutoff. So AA's (or AAA's) are just fine.
I wouldn't recommend doing so unless you have a resistor to lower the voltage.
AWESOME PETER!
Very awesome idea
