I am glad to hear that this turned out better than it started, but...*is it* unfair to criticize a serialized story before it’s over? I think especially in the comic market where every chapter is another $5 in the hole, every individual issue should deliver, especially the first one. If you can get $15 into this story and still be seriously disappointed...that seems like a valid criticism. “The three issues that exist right now are really bad” and “The story as a whole is really good” shouldn’t be incompatible opinions, and any product sold in only its own context has the obligation to be good in that context.

While I appreciate Drake's honesty, I also think he might be a little too hard on himself. All art is subjective - including comics - and as Numbuh1NerdX pointed out, comics exist as both single issues and serialized arcs. There's nothing wrong with a story just not working for you, or perhaps, not working as well compared to other creators. That said, a good ending can make all the difference.
I do think 3 issues of someone being out of character without others addressing it is a bit much though. That’s expecting alot of faith from a paying comic book fan, faith which is in short supply in todays comic climate.
OK, I get your point. But if the authors must hint the change of the character from the start just to attract the customer - would the change have the same inpact on the Our Beloved RUclips Content Creator (TM) or any of us? I don't think so. It'd probably be just another miniseries. Comic books is a medium which has rules on its own (and I admit - some of the rules I'd like to change myself), but we can complain about this or use the specificity it provides. The "Gwenpool Strikes Back" authors took the latter and for me, they developed the approach to the genre, even if for a little bit. In my personal opinion, this is a feat that shouldn't be overlooked.
@@Xaris192 Its not about hinting at the change, its more about the drastic change from the start. With Gwen, you always knew what it was about at the start of her big comic. It was about becoming important and not being canceled. Everything else was subplot. So when we got to know her, she was charismatic, nice, overall a bit wacky sure but still enjoyable and the art too was amazing to look at. Then we get a Gwen that... isnt that and the Artstyle too supports the change. She became annoying, memeheavy, overall just a second deadpool without the healingfactor. Which became just not enjoyable to read when you come from the old story. This twist is similar to the Twist in Endgame, where NOTHING was leading up to them winning but suddenly they do cause "What a twist?". I am glad it ended the way it did, but from a storytelling perspective, its not good writing.
As a comic writer myself, I can tell you that there wasn't enough time to adapt the script for any criticism anyways. Art for the next issues would've already been underway if not fully done by then.
I really like that gwenpool is just insane. The idea that her reality warping went so out of control that she started to loose her mind is really interesting and she's a mutant now so she's part of marvels best comic series.
Oh. I ragequitted the mini series after two issues because it was so different from her original comic and didn't trust it to improve. Damn, I fucked up, gotta go read it now I guess.

GwenPool has always hovered below my radar just because of the Deadpool humor I was afraid of, but between this and your other videos on GwenPool, DEFINITELY going to buy some. And with your other more recent video I can do it even cheaper! Geez one stop shop here.
I really hope she doesn't actually end up being a mutant. I know I'm in the minority, but I really don't care about the X-Men, but also I just feel like it would be a disservice to the character. She's pretty unique and has a cool thing going on. Don't just says she's a mutant to explain it.
As an absolute fan of Gwenpool, I was on the verge of tears once again when I read the last few pages of her last adventure. But now I can rest easy in knowing that she's probably not going away anytime soon. Speaking of comic series coming to an ending though, will you be covering Squirrel Girl's comic run, 'The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl'?
Judging a comic run based on 3 out of 5 issued is perfectly reasonable. Just because the last 2 issues are good doesn't mean the first 3 are, either. For the ass-pull-like explanation to be less, well, ass-pull-like, they should have alluded to Gwenpool acting strange in the first issue and continually allude to that in the 2nd and 3rd.
But they do. SpiderMan tells her that she's acting like an asshole, Deadpool tells her that she should stop acting like him because their respective fans like them for different reasons.
@@robespierre2837 Your reply makes zero sense, and her being a mutant is irrelevant, it's a 4th-wall-breaking retcon. What matters is that her personality changed drastically, that's what all the characters point out.
@@Posiman 1º, sorry for the necro. 2º Thing is, was it the first time that she was acting as a annoying female Deadpool and someone reacted acording? If no, the only clue would be Wade "brocken clock" Wilson getting the hour right
Shouldn't each issue have to stand on its own though? I am glad you ended up liking the series, but I think it is perfectly reasonable for you to have criticized it at the time. Dropping it then would have made sense. It is the job of the comic to keep readers coming back, you shouldn't have to force yourself to do it. Would you have kept up with the series if you weren't going to review it for the channel?
I dont think each issue have to stand on its own they telling a story and issues are short so no. But its ok if you mention that you are talking only about the first three issue.
@@cangirayicel7639 I'm not trying to get feisty, but I don't think that a single issue is too little space to tell a full story. I've been diving into vintage Marvel and I am surprised at how much story can be packed into so few pages. As an example, the Spider-Man introduction in AF 15 feels like a bunch of story to me. Whereas the Abram and Abrams Spider-Man Bloodline has felt extremely slow issue, by issue. What makes the difference? I'm not sure. Zdarsky's Spider-Man Life Story feels closer to the vintage stuff. Each issue felt really impactful and filled with stuff. I can't remember how well I liked each issue, but I know I enjoyed them all, individually and as a whole.
@@fortressfiction look you are right its not about how short or long it is. But l think you are wrong about one issue being full package it depends on the story like some of the series are episodic and some of them only make sense if you watch the all episodes. Also another point of view this is art and artist wants you to feel disturbed to strengthen the criticize she made in the end of the comic. Comics, books, movies...etc. doesn't always target to give you fun time.
@@edvance1030 If our reality is just one of many realities in the Marvel universe, her mutant ability might be that she's somehow tuned into it and can use it to her advantage.
I'm glad the conclusion addresses the concerns us fans had of Gwenpool. That said, I don't know if that makes this a "good" run. This is a problem with games and novels as well; if the first two acts of a narrative is difficult, cringey, and a slog, then even if the ending addresses these issues does that really redeem the work as a whole? I guess it depends on if you feel like the ending is just that good.
It's not just that the ending addressed the weak beginning, but also that the weak beginning is a necessary part of the story which the ending recontextualizes.
I always wonder why so many people post such negativity all the time, but it clearly rakes in the views. I'm glad you keep most of your content positive and thoughtful, and you are actually able to admit when you were wrong!
So... the moral of the story is to wait for a short mini series of a comic to be over so you can give your overall opinion instead of turning out to be wrong when prematurely talking about it?
This is why floppy sales are dying. The tone should have been addressed in book one, no one is going to stick around for the end. Especially given how the character has been treated. That said, it’s a fun take: all characters should have a regulated character bible so people don’t keep changing the character.

This is the same shit that happens all the time. The most notorious examples of people (often non-readers) bitching about something that just had started were Hydra Cap and Superior Spider-Man.
I agree that it is good to judge a work in its entirety, but it's becoming harder and harder to know what an "entirety" is. The MCU is not completed yet, can we really judge Thor 1, 2, and 3 before we've seen four? Can we not say whether or not the Beserk series is good, since it hasn't concluded? Can we not judge chapters of novels? If they come out with another Star Wars movie does that mean we suddenly have to redact our judgements of the previous titles until we've watched the next trilogy?
We can judge them on their singulars as well as the wholes, otherwise people would hate Star Wars as a whole just because Phantom Menace and Last Jedi are so bad.
An issue is not comparible to a movie. A movie is a complete story arc, an issue is not. That doesn't mean each issue shouldn't have something that interest the reader but it does mean that judging the overall story is meaningless. Judging a comic on one issue is like judging a movie of half of the first arc.
Aesahethr but what about episodes of a tv show, chapters in a novel, chapters of a manga, and movies in a series? Those are all comparable, and it would be weird if you couldn’t judge each of those by their separate entries as well as a whole.
This was a really good video! I must admit I didn’t expect the story to go that direction cause I thought it would be another Harley Quinn situation, but I’m glad I was wrong, and your speech at the end about being patient enough to be able to judge a work in its entirety instead of having a kneejerk negative reaction in the middle hit close to home. I honestly do that a lot more than I should, it’s something I need to work on. Also I made a joke on your last video about a real Gwen, a fake Gwen, and the “Gwenpool Clone Saga”, and I am kinda amazed that I was at least in the ballpark.
It dose make sense that Ms. marvel beat spider man in red hands because they are friend that are comfortable with each other making the spider- sense unable to activate.
For me, Gwen's powers and higher awareness causing her (on numerous occasions) to be mentally unwell is amazing writing of eldritch knowledge. What she knows drives her crazy, whether that's going manic in desperation to survive the unfathomable threat of cancellation or just struggling to not be a psychopath and empathize with people despite seeing them as only comic characters. Hope to see more in that vein from Gwenpool in the future.
I’m so glad you made this video! I was hoping you’d think differently after reading the full series. I love your channel and I guess I should follow you on Twitter ;)

In my eyes every time gwen acts like her cringey version its because she doesn't want to get cancelled and in the current landscape of comic books and other things getting people mad and upset at the way you act is a great way for a lot of eyes to be on you thus making sure you aren't forgotten
This is exactly what I hoped was going to happen as soon as I finished watching your previous Gwenpool video a few weeks back, and I am so glad that my suspicions that "this outright Flanderization is a perfect opportunity to show off Gwen's struggle at staying relevant" ended up coming to fruition.
No, its not BS. Its been stated many times that the spidey sense only works on enemies. There's been times when aunt may hit, knocked out, or shot Peter.
I think that last 2 issue thing also kinda hints at how comic book characters are all the time. They get new writers they get new takes on the character. They reinvent themselves. Like I wouldn't be surprised if they basically saw no gweenpool isn't a mutant down the line or simply just sorta flip flop between that from writer to writer. Sorta like how moon Knight kinda gets reinvented every time he comes out. Like sometimes he's crazy, sometimes he's mystical, sometimes he's batman-esque and so on. I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a gwenpool story in the future where she tries and fails to get a movie made cause she feels it will get her immortality.
You're a really cool dude and I'm really, really happy that I subscribed. It takes a lot to publicly admit fault, and I'm proud of you. Can't wait until the next video!
Loved the video. Seriously need to pick up the Gwenpool comics someday. Just one question. Were the other versions of the Gwenpool drawn by the original artists or was the artist of Gwenpool Strikes Back that good at emulating them? Cause either way, that's super impressive.
I see, I remember the og vid and I still like it and think it’s great. I also like this video a lot too and I’m so glad this series addressed and worked out everything for you because it was a meta-narrative. It’s a fair point to experiencing the media product in full/+ in context. But then also it reminds me of a game review I watched where the reviewer really didn’t enjoy or think much of the game even after putting multiple hours (I think 8) into it, granted they said that it wasn’t a full/proper review since they didn’t finish the game. And this brings me to a complicated juncture, because I think all points are valid and depending on the product it may not be a black and white answer. For example if you take part of a comedian’s joke out of context it could be really bad, but if you play the whole set it could be funny, if it’s a joke that needs building up then I’d feel it’s completely fair to disregard that out of context criticism because you took a snippet without context. However what about a JRPG/MMORPG or something like that, just finishing the game may take hundreds of hours, if you go through 50 and don’t like it is it fair to review it or should you be expected to put 50 more in? Should your criticisms be invalid? What if the game suddenly gets so much better by hour 54? This is a really interesting conundrum for me to think of because I myself have thought of bad at first but then twist into good meta-narratives, and I’ve enjoyed games where part of the experience is to produce a feeling of monotony and I think that was a great thing that enhances the experience. In this case from what you’ve described I would say the series was good, but I’d also be willing to accept if people still think it’s objectively bad. The conclusion may be a all changing twist but there were three issues where the content was cringeworthy, since that’s more than half the series and comics aren’t cheap you’ve paid for two thirds that you didn’t like and you may or may not like them after knowing the conclusion even if you liked that. I don’t know where to go with my thoughts rn so I’ll pack them to be unpacked later, as always great vid and I’m super happy for you that the series turned into something you loved. BTW not Dexit posting when talking bout RPG’s, I finished SwSh, when I Dexit post it’s clear just trying to give examples .
Hi! I loved this video and just wanted to tell you that you are my favorite channel when it comes to comic books (and more.) I always enjoy watching your videos and reading comics you've covered. 6:13 makes sense because at least peter parkers spider sense doesn't work against people he trusts and feels are friends. This was the explanation as to why he couldn't use his spider sense to cheat in poker with other avengers but could against the king pin.
Liked, and subscribed, solely because of the humility shown. I have seen exactly one of your videos at this point. This one. I am impressed by your show of character.
What I want to see in the next Gwenpool... Cecil He was Gwen's guy in the chain and he never made an appearance in this series at all (to my knowledge) Their partnership in Unbelievable Gwenpool was a fun read showing 2 different personalities clashing with one another.... Also Cecil > Quentin Quire in my opinion on you know what hehe
I'd postulate that Kamala's actions ignore Miles' spidey sense. Miles super trusts her, and with other spidey-sensitive characters, it only works on people the user considers a potential danger.
Hey love your videos Drake! Was watching videos I haven't seen yet from years ago on your channel and while I was watching this video. I was wondering whatever happened with this interview with Leah Williams that you were talking about at 11:05. Thanks ComicDrake. Hope to hear from you. :)

One of the few marvel characters who's stuff I've read in recent years and actually felt a connection to and thought the writing was good. Gwen pool is good.
I liked qwenpool too and I was just like him at first nearly dropping it at 3 then I saw someone talk about how awesome 4 was and the fact that he bought it just cause the comic book store owner looked depressed cause let me tell you those places arent doing well....
Yes! That Lion King reference. Also this felt cathartic as a video in comparison to your first one. That does not mean I was more prescient; just that I was appreciative of your conclusions after the fact. I only got tot catch up way after the fact due to life. Gwenpool is one of my favorite characters but due to her (meta+?)metafiction nature that is hard to plop down. She just feels like her story has to be too condensed in the relation to the rest of comics to make her a regular. Unless the writers focused almost solely on her breaching of whitespace(or possibly expanding her reality warping by focusing on her reality warping capabilities.). I think we will see her sparingly or peppered in at key points. Maybe a series dedicated to her trying (and most likely somewhat failing) to make her metahuman abilities match up with what the other characters believe. Honestly I think that could make at least another arc. Possibly a great meta one if they can use her as a deux ex machina for solving various problems the other heroes can be appreciative of. A sort of misunderstood Don Quixote-esque hero who is given recognition but not for really what they were doing. Like Booster Gold from DC. This feels like it could be an original take based on misconceptions that would still match up with how a hero sacrifices something for their acts. Eh. I am not sure. What do you think?
I actually found gwenpool and I thought it was a gwen copy of deadpool, like a blatant copy and deadpool is one of my favourites and as I began to read the comics more and all I could really say was wow because I was brought in for 1 reason and stayed for another, and the way this one ended was amazing to me
Critiquing a comic after 3 issues is completely reasonable, though I'm glad you enjoyed the twist in issue #4 and the conclusion in #5. A comic has to be good from the start to keep its readership; that's just reality. Most won't give a comic more than 3 issues if they're not enjoying it; many won't give it more than 1. Personally, I don't enjoy the meta-4th-wall-breaking of Gwenpool, Deadpool, or anyone else, so the whole idea of pulling the contradictory versions of herself from previous continuity to take part in a swim-suit-battle-royal with little blinking icons above each head, concluding with her meta-breaking I'm-not-a-comic-character-but-you-are conversion with Kamala Khan makes me physically wince. I'm praying the character doesn't make any meaningful appearances in the X-Men Universe. Hopefully her supposed appearance on Krakoa is just part of her apparent delusional-reality-warping and is not in fact real.
The way your pronouncing Kamala sounds like you're saying the Pokémon Komala, which is just giving me very humorous ideas when I think of a Komala in a Ms Marvel costume
I don't really blame the other writers for their poor cameos. I'm sure it was just a suggestion from a higher ups and they wanted to get it over with. Hopefully for whoever they get for a full series will be a writer that really wants to do her justice.
Ehh, I'm not really a fan of her being retconned to have been a comic character the entire time. Part of what made her unique was the fact that she *wasn't* a comic book character. Do you have any idea how interesting that concept is? So to completely toss that out in what's supposed to be her big comeback story just feels kinda...weird? That's like if the big twist in Glass was that MacAvoy's character in Split didn't actually have DID (I mean, he doesn't, he has an incredibly bastardized and villainized version that's been simplified for the casual movie audience but that's besides the point) or that revealing Rocky was never a boxer to begin with and he's just a chef at a restaurant that occasionally dreams of boxing one day but never gets around to it.
It makes way too much sense, the real world explanation gets kinda thrown out the window seeing how in the real world she’s a character created and written to be sold on store shelves, if she was real then our reality breaks that. It makes way too much sense that she’s from either a fictional version of our world written for her backstory, an alternate Marvel universe close to ours or is a mutant just driven to insanity due to bipolar disorder
Mr Critical Except that’s boring. We’ve seen dozens of superheroes that just popped in from an alternate universe. Hell thats half of DC’s entire fucking roster.
Then go with the mutant who altered reality due to depression caused by bipolar disorder option, they left it open for a reason Gwen’s origins are meant to be a mystery. Personally I like the explanation that she was written to be from the real world but isn’t actually from there it leads to interesting drama as she realises she isn’t real and never was
Just an idea and I don't know, if it is possible, but I'd find it really cool, if marvel would use Gwenpool to have a secret crisis easter egg with gwenpool. Like that the relation between perpetua and the 1 above all being explained. It really would't need 2 be lonher than a few pages, but I'd find it lit.
I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to Gwenpool. Your original video for Unbelievable Gwenpool is what got me to finally take the plunge into (western) comics. GSB definitely had a rocky start, but the ending meta-commentary on how every time a character is written by a different writer, it's actually functionally an entirely new character made it totally worth it. Also, I really appreciate how Unbelievable and GSB went for the meta-story unique to Gwenpool about what it means for a character to literally be able to count down to the end of their own existence, as well as the duality of the finiteness and infiniteness of being a work of fiction. It's this kind of (not "LOL RANDOM") fourth-wall-breaking that made me fall in love with this character.
so let me get this straight SHE IS A MUTANT SHES NOT FROM OUR WORLD AND SHE ONLY THOUGHT SHE WAS FROM ANOTHER WORLD THEN HOW DOES SHE KNOW ABOUT THEIR IDENTITIES AND STUFF
Allegedly. But I guess she can jump/see into any point in time and sees it in comic book format so if she enjoyed doing that for a long time she would know a lot of people's secrets.
I love Gwen Poole and I also wasn't like strike backs and was sort of pissed at it but decided to stick with it...sadly though others prob didn't and never got to see this pay off so hope this video helps so we see Gwen back again at a later date.

6:14 people tend to forget that Spider-sense doesn't work around people whom he considers as allies/friends/acquaintances.
I really like that gwenpool is just insane. The idea that her reality warping went so out of control that she started to loose her mind is really interesting and she's a mutant now so she's part of marvels best comic series.
I love seeing a person who can admit when their wrong and even more when they can explain why themselves:)
They weren't wrong tho
Oh. I ragequitted the mini series after two issues because it was so different from her original comic and didn't trust it to improve. Damn, I fucked up, gotta go read it now I guess.
Ok drake sheep. Following like a mongrel. No mind for yourself.
victoria adelaida hahaha man why are comic readers such tools? if you didn't like it you didn't like it. Don't pretend to like it because of some bandwagon you feel the need to be on.
Don't listen, they're complete morons.
Uuuuhhh she just said she wanted to continue reading it because it became to her liking and actually improved/changed for the better not because drake ordered her to do it
I would not say you messed up, you made a decision based on information available.to you and made a choice. Thats what humans do, we judge, make.choices and continue on with our lives. Nothing wrong with what you decided and give the nature of the subjject (a comic series) you likely can remedy.the issue.
With this video, you won me over, and I subscribed. Lately, I've been watching a lot of your videos, and I have to say that, beyond the storytelling, editing, and the information that makes your content enjoyable, with every video I watch, I appreciate you more as a person. You exude a rare kindness that warms the heart, and now that I know we have both experienced the same disorder, I feel even closer to you. Keep it up, you're great.
Damn. The mania and the panic attack really hit close to home.
Really, it felt so genuine and real to me, I seriously got emotional reading it. And that happens really infrequently.
Sony Animation needs to make an animated film for Gwenpool in the spider-verse animation style. That would work far too well.
No
Because Gwenpool is under fox, Disney
@000000000 a universe full of pools
@@PirateCat822 A pool of pools
What a legend. Admitting when you’re wrong is that honest ComicDrake vibe i keep coming back for.
I'm pretty sure the implication is her powers made her a mutant to "fit in" rather than having powers due to being a mutant.
Yah we already seen a billion times a mutant who can change reality
As an absolute fan of Gwenpool, I was on the verge of tears once again when I read the last few pages of her last adventure. But now I can rest easy in knowing that she's probably not going away anytime soon.
Speaking of comic series coming to an ending though, will you be covering Squirrel Girl's comic run, 'The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl'?
5:08 Harley-Gwen, brilliant.
@@Posiman just because someones an ahole doesnt mean they are a mutant
@@robespierre2837 Your reply makes zero sense, and her being a mutant is irrelevant, it's a 4th-wall-breaking retcon. What matters is that her personality changed drastically, that's what all the characters point out.

So in summary
Leah Williams sucks at writing
@@Posiman 1º, sorry for the necro.
2º Thing is, was it the first time that she was acting as a annoying female Deadpool and someone reacted acording? If no, the only clue would be Wade "brocken clock" Wilson getting the hour right
*I only dress up like gwenpool in a bikini*
Wait... we weren’t supposed to dress up?
@@fortressfiction also they may wanted the lure more people who like that kind of stuff before criticize it

this was solid...hope the writer come back to the character at some point.
She's writing the new X-Factor book (coming out in April), so maybe she'll have her appear there
Her being a mutant doesn't explain how she knows a lot of stuff she's not supposed to know.
@@edvance1030 why not? There is mutant that can create golden balls...why not have a mutant that can see reality as a comic book?

Gwen still adorable though. Cool to hear that she has such an in depth character story!
Looks like every main gwenpool writer is destined to have an interview with drake
Like if there was a version of UP where the movie goes severely downhill, even hitting Car's 2 quality, after Ellie dies.

Who would've known
This is the same shit that happens all the time. The most notorious examples of people (often non-readers) bitching about something that just had started were Hydra Cap and Superior Spider-Man.
Das Boom you said that twice...
Why?
" There is no other character that can poole off this feat... "
ahhhhhh
When we'll inevitably get a Gwenpool movie, they probably gonna make her an MCU fan who got transported to the MCU one day.
“Manic, Insane, Violent, Woke Idiot” 😂
BrokeBot I know right! GOD I love self awareness in this comic 😍
love your videos. great work
It dose make sense that Ms. marvel beat spider man in red hands because they are friend that are comfortable with each other making the spider- sense unable to activate.
Gwenpool is THE character that really, finally got me into super hero comics... I love her.
I’m flattered!
At least in your last Gwenpool video, you did address that the limited series hadn't finished yet and that your opinion could change
The irony of this is that she's technically be immortalized in Fortnite so...
Gwenpools state of continued existential dread makes for a compelling enough reason for her to act out of character from time to time.
writer played 5D chess...

What a clever way to write a character.
I’m so glad you made this video! I was hoping you’d think differently after reading the full series. I love your channel and I guess I should follow you on Twitter ;)
Gwenpool also appeared in modok head games Issue Number 2
So, Gwenpool's in Krakoa now?

*oh*
In my eyes every time gwen acts like her cringey version its because she doesn't want to get cancelled and in the current landscape of comic books and other things getting people mad and upset at the way you act is a great way for a lot of eyes to be on you thus making sure you aren't forgotten
This is exactly what I hoped was going to happen as soon as I finished watching your previous Gwenpool video a few weeks back, and I am so glad that my suspicions that "this outright Flanderization is a perfect opportunity to show off Gwen's struggle at staying relevant" ended up coming to fruition.
Mile's Spider-sense wouldn't help him because he doesn't see Kamala as a threat. I sound super-confident but it's just BS
No, its not BS. Its been stated many times that the spidey sense only works on enemies. There's been times when aunt may hit, knocked out, or shot Peter.
It is never explained how all the Gwenpool's that were brought in to fight Hulk in issue 4 just dissapeared.
Being the kind of person who can admit he screwed up is one of the reasons I'm subbed to you.
I wonder what comic Drake thinks about the new Harley Quinn animated show
I personally love it
He said he likes it
Loved the video.
One of several characters that are worth suffering inconsistent writing for, just aware of it herself.
I would love to see a Gwenpool cartoon
I will always love gwenpool no matter what Carnation she comes from 🥺
Drake, I too did not enjoy the beginning of this mini. Thanks for the update in how the book ended. Fingers crossed on seeing GwenPoole again
I’m glad that their was some people who saw man behind the curtain
Hi! I loved this video and just wanted to tell you that you are my favorite channel when it comes to comic books (and more.) I always enjoy watching your videos and reading comics you've covered. I especially enjoyed the vid with "Tony" and how he lives with only marvel merch. Keep up the awesome work. :)
6:14 actually spider sense doesn't work on friends.
i was actually really sad that the only comic book character i like to read has ended. i just wish they will make a book for her again and not just a cameo or side character. but that would seem imposible for now
The ultimate marketing/production retention move: "don't stop reading or cancel us, because we have to get to the really popular version" :)
6:13 makes sense because at least peter parkers spider sense doesn't work against people he trusts and feels are friends. This was the explanation as to why he couldn't use his spider sense to cheat in poker with other avengers but could against the king pin.
Bro same. She's been my favorite, and I had all the same fears and concerns.
Liked, and subscribed, solely because of the humility shown. I have seen exactly one of your videos at this point. This one.
I am impressed by your show of character.
That transition into the sponsor was the slickest thing I've ever seen lol
Im just glad my girl is back,,
Why did this made me cry?
There seriously needs to be a Gwen-Pool movie!
Enjoyed it halfway until the beach issue... Now willing to go back since it had a point instead of being pointless.
What I want to see in the next Gwenpool...
Cecil
He was Gwen's guy in the chain and he never made an appearance in this series at all (to my knowledge)
Their partnership in Unbelievable Gwenpool was a fun read showing 2 different personalities clashing with one another....
Also Cecil > Quentin Quire in my opinion on you know what hehe
I hate quentinxgwen.i like cecil but i feel like he should stay in unbelievable gwenpool
Ik I'm late to the party but this follow up video just reignited my love of gwenpool all over again. Thank you
I'd postulate that Kamala's actions ignore Miles' spidey sense. Miles super trusts her, and with other spidey-sensitive characters, it only works on people the user considers a potential danger.
Thanks for making this video
Hey love your videos Drake! Was watching videos I haven't seen yet from years ago on your channel and while I was watching this video. I was wondering whatever happened with this interview with Leah Williams that you were talking about at 11:05. Thanks ComicDrake. Hope to hear from you. :)
Drake u are not alone ^^ after issue 3 I had videos from u and my other 2 favorite comic channels about exact the same thing and now they all say it was a mistake XD still love ur videos thank u for all the effort
One of the few marvel characters who's stuff I've read in recent years and actually felt a connection to and thought the writing was good. Gwen pool is good.
I got the notification for this video and it made me so happy because I'm a huge Gwenpool fan
That was one smooth sponsorship Segway
Love ya videos Drake.
That's like if the big twist in Glass was that MacAvoy's character in Split didn't actually have DID (I mean, he doesn't, he has an incredibly bastardized and villainized version that's been simplified for the casual movie audience but that's besides the point) or that revealing Rocky was never a boxer to begin with and he's just a chef at a restaurant that occasionally dreams of boxing one day but never gets around to it.
she uh
has always been a comic book character
it's not a retcon
It makes way too much sense, the real world explanation gets kinda thrown out the window seeing how in the real world she’s a character created and written to be sold on store shelves, if she was real then our reality breaks that. It makes way too much sense that she’s from either a fictional version of our world written for her backstory, an alternate Marvel universe close to ours or is a mutant just driven to insanity due to bipolar disorder
GundiMike I know in our real world universe she’s always been a comic character but I’m talking in the world of the story
Personally I like the explanation that she was written to be from the real world but isn’t actually from there it leads to interesting drama as she realises she isn’t real and never was
Ever since I read that chapt I've been waiting for this vid
I love Gwenpool. One of my favorite Marvel characters.
Dude! Admitting you made a mistake and explaining why. So much respect for you. Still not a fan of the series, but definitely a fan of your work!
Well it’s good to know this series got better. Looking forward to that Leah Williams interview.
It's this kind of (not "LOL RANDOM") fourth-wall-breaking that made me fall in love with this character.
so let me get this straight
SHE IS A MUTANT
SHES NOT FROM OUR WORLD
AND SHE ONLY THOUGHT SHE WAS FROM ANOTHER WORLD
THEN HOW DOES SHE KNOW ABOUT THEIR IDENTITIES AND STUFF
The sageway to the ad is amazing!
