  • Three things you should always have with you as a hard-of-hearing person when you go out and about include:
    Powered hearing devices
    Backup power
    Communication kit
Having these three things with you can help you better communicate with people you come in contact with. Being prepared to communicate effectively decreases stress and anxiety and can reduce hearing fatigue.
What do you think about this little list? Would you add anything to Three Things You Should Always Have With You as a Hard of Hearing Person?

A back up writing kit is really smart. I'll add that. Also, I have a picture I keep on my phone that says "Sorry, I'm hard of hearing. Please be patient" in English and Spanish for when I order food and leave my hearing aids on the charger. Thank you for your videos.

Thanks for the great info Emily! One thing that I have in my purse at all times is my Hearing Aid travel case. I use it when I am at the hair salon to keep my Hearing Aid's safe and dry while I'm getting my hair done. I have also used it while on a boat ride. I remember the cool case you showed us in one of your videos. You are always inspiring me. Thanks for the great content!

Thank you for your video! You’ve actually helped me confirm my decision to continue with batteries and not go with rechargeable hearing aids.
In my case my batearé paid for by Veteran’s Affairs Canada so I get 6 months worth at a time at no cost. I squirrel them away in my backpack, office desk drawer and always carry a pack in that little front pocket of my jeans!
I would consider rechargeable HAs if I had to pay out of pocket but all the issues that people face with forgetting to charge them or not having a charger are something I can live without 😅
The worst case I’ve run into with batteries was on a work trip and I stopped at a drug store for batteries instead of driving back to the hotel.

Haha I’m so glad I could help you feel confident in your decision to stick with battery powered aids! It has certainly been an adjustment for me!

I would love to find a case large enough for cross over hearing aid. Hearing aid with cable. Mine lives in margarine tub so cable isn’t broken

Would a pencil case work? There are lots of varieties, padded ones too.

I keep a battery taped to my wallet and I have a flop handy if there is a chance it might rain, which is rare.
