1. she finished the bulk of this album in only two weeks towards the end of 2018
2. “ghostin” was the first song she wrote for this album
3. the person talking at the beginning “bloodline” is her nonna (grandma) talking about a hearing aid
4. the person talking at the beginning of “in my head” is one of her best friends, doug, that left her that voicemail. the song was already completed when she decided to add the voicemail as it coincidentally fit the song perfectly
5. there was originally supposed to be a song called “remember”, but it was removed at the last second as it was too emotional/personal to ari. it is highly suggested and assumed to be about Mac. it was replaced with “break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored”
6. 7 rings didn’t originally have the line “you like my hair? gee thanks, just bought it”
7. there are several versions of the song “thank u, next” where the line about pete changes as their relationship was on and off at the time she was writing it
8. the intro to “NASA” is voiced by RuPaul’s Drag Race star D.J. “Shangela” Pierce

fun fact this album was made in just TWO WEEKS ariana sat down with the friends who happen to be songwriters and producers and just had fun with it, this was because ariana’s life changed drastically, she broke off her engagement with pete davidson after her ex mac miller died because of an overdose, also she had just dropped the album sweetener but she felt like there was so much she wanted to write about and decided to go against the norms of waiting 2 years to drop the next album and instead dropped this only 6 months after she dropped sweetener
I'm glad she and her friends created this masterpiece so we can quicker forget Sw*etener ever happened

„Ghostin“ was the hardest song to write for her. Its about the time, Mac Miller died but she was still engaged with Pete Davidson. The time when every memory with Mac came back to her. That’s what destroyed their engagement. Pete Davidson also said something like : „I know it was over when Mac died“. It was such a dark time in her life.... She still suffered from his dead for example on tour (when she sang, songs that reminded her of him, or she just thought about him while performing)
I was so not a huge fan of hers until this album. This WHOLE project is FIRE. Ghostin gives me chills & Bad Idea is my go to jam of hers

Is it just me or does the end of Ghostin sound like a train leaving a station? I always thought it was supposed to represent Mac leaving this life and passing on. The beginning of the song, to me, also sounds like sonar noises, which I thought might represent her “searching” for Mac in a way.

When Sweetener came out I actually really liked it and that was the first Ariana Grande full album I bought of hers, but Thank U, Next I LOVED!! It’s lyrics are much more personal and the cohesiveness of this album really shines more.
sweetener was made as a healing album for herself and others so it doesn’t hit as hard if u haven’t gone through some shit. it’s my personal favourite album tbh but this one is sick too
