Even as your friendly neighborhood Cubs fan I gotta say.......y'all should have gotten rid of that dude years ago. Typical big arm small brain pitcher. Trust me the Cubs have one like this right now, his name is Trevor MeGill and he is terrible and I dont give a shit the Cubs are bad and the kid is a rookie I can just tell. He sucks. I dont care he throws 98 its too straight and not painted on a corner and then the breaking ball is a wild pitch every other time. So he either throws no strikes or dumb hittable strikes ALL THE TIME. The Edwin Jackson problem. Ive literally NEVER seen Lorenzen get anyone out when it matters. When I see him in the game I seriously say "oh thank god, we still have a chance!". And immediately Rafael Ortega hits a bomb like clockwork lol.

Oh its even deeper than that. Thom Brennaman worked FOR the Cubs in the early 1990s on WGN and rumor has it he did not like working with or being overshadowed by Harry Caray whom he viewed as a drunken idiot and it made him butthurt the fans loved Harry so much (which isnt entirely untrue to be totally fair, Harry WAS literally drunk on broadcasts) and he felt the same about the fans (drunken loser idiots). Hes actually pretty much an open Cubs hater and has been for 2 decades. Somewhere theres even a quote I read how happy he was to see how upset the Cubs fans were in 2003, calling them all a bunch of drunken zombies or something off camera. He called game 6 of the 2003 NLCS, the Bartman Game lol.
So yea me personally i dont respect him very much, I think hes just a good old fashioned grade-A, USDA choice, grass-fed, FDA approved, Douche Canoe. Thats just what he is. You need some old dude to not be funny and whine about shit while pretending to have some sort of standards........Thom is your guy. You can just tell how he talks he sounds like a total jackass off camera like hed actually be kind of insufferable to be around.
Sidenote: I was AT that Arrieta no-hitter! That weekend was my birthday and I am trying to see the Cubs in every mlb park........welp THAT was my trip to Cincy lol. Also the day after where the Cubs lost like 13-5 and the Reds got a little revenge. Like all the Reds good players hit homers that night and I got a Joey Votto bobblehead which I still have not opened. As much as Im a Cubs fan if you dont like Joey Votto hitting you dont like baseball.

@@danr154 i heard it was more he is resentful the cubs passed on him after Harry's passing and signed harry's grandson Chip instead (kind of a Milo Hamilton situation). But yours sounds accurate as well.
Harry did drink but he also suffered a stroke which made him seem drunk or drunker at times.
Also the 2003 NLCS was the biggest farce Fox ever perpetrated on the Cubs using not only Thom but Steve Lyons who used to play for the sox. that would be like being a Red Sox fan and having to hear the YES crew call their games on national TV.

I made a comment earlier tonight that I guess went out over the air that I am deeply ashamed of. If I have hurt anyone out there, I can't tell you how much I say from the bottom of my heart I'm so very, very sorry. I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there's a drive into left field by Castellanos and that'll be a single. Now here's KB stepping up and he hits a deep drive into left field and that'll be a home run. And so that'll make it a 5-3 ballgame. . I don't know if I'm going to be putting on this headset again. I don't know if it's going to be for the Reds.

i don't have a problem with this, listen to tommy lasorda talk about "what do i think about dave kingman" video... which is why i'd never make it as an announcer/manager, the stuff that comes out of my mouth (in private)... a reliever who comes in with a one run lead and walks the first batter, the batter who strikes out with a guy on 2nd and no outs. the manager who concedes a game to rest his bullpen...

Homer announcers ruin the appeal to anybody who's not literally fanatical about the team *and* living right near them. I don't give a shit that Wally's Carpet World is sponsoring the game, nor that he's got 3 great locations in Dickwood, East Dickwood and Dirndl. I especially don't care that he's the "official carpet supplier" of a fucking sports team. I don't personally care if the fucking team loses, I just want to hear a sportscast, so shut the fuck up and sportscast already.
