My list goes like this in America buffalo's then eagles simply because I like the 24k instead of the 22k and that's just for looks.
My next is the Britannia I think it's a beautiful coin and I like the fractional aspect.
I have never cared for the Maple leaves just because of the aesthetic aspect. Beautiful coin they just don't do anything for me.
After that I would have to say just about anything from the Perth mint.

For your purposes, I'd say Britannia. Premiums are reasonable right now but if the new security features and design do increase demand, the premiums may grow in time and benefit early buyers.
One thing I will say is that I've moved to prioritize buffaloes over eagles. Eagles are still more liquid stateside but I've never heard of any problems unloading buffaloes. The advantage of the Buffalo is it's easier to sell 24k internationally. It's sad to say but in the past year I've started to view my stack as not just as savings but also as an emergency get out of dodge if things get really bad stateside and in the broader west. It's not something that looms large just yet but it's enough of a remote possibility that my preference has shifted to 24k and the Buffalo walks that line of liquidity stateside and abroad best.

A really nice way to stack fractional is the Dutch gold ducat. Minted since 1586, it weighs 3,49 grams (983/1000 purity) or 3,434 pure gold (0,11 Oz AGW). A nice feature is also the fact that they perfectly fit the A22 airtite capsule and are therefore perfect for tube stacking. 10 ducats equal just over an ounce of gold. And the premiums on ducats are still low at the moment. 👍🏻

I think a good out of the box coin to stack would be the 1oz Gold Lunar Tiger from the Perth Mint (2022).
    - It’s from a highly recognised mint and it’s government backed by one of the most stable economies on Earth
    - it’s a cool, kick ass design
    - low premium in the US I’m lead to believe (I’m from Australia 🇦🇺)
    - dragons and tigers are the two most popular lunar animal designs for coin collectors and non-collectors. Everyone wants a Tiger, not many want a mouse or a rat or a rabbit etc.
    - it also carries a future collector premium so you could potentially ratchet up your profits slightly when it comes to sell.
    - Did I mention that Tigers are bloody cool! 😎

But with the crazy premiums of Buffalos I switched to Canadian maples 🍁 because I think 1. That would be the next popular coin in the US, 2. The premiums are lower, 3. The purity, 4. You can get some premium back when you sell them, 5. Like you said l, it won’t trigger 1099 unless you sell 25, so that’s quite a high number, and 6. I quite like the maple leaf! Good video!

Another advantage of coins over bars (in my opinion), is that bars need some sort of certificate and serial number for authenticity. However, an actual coin, backed by an issuing country, basically has its authenticity certified by its design. Not counting simple "rounds", a coin IS the "certificate". Also, harder to counterfeit a coin versus a certificate or card.

At 70 y/o, I arrived late to the gold party. Have silver, collected it for years, have woo woo of it in my safes. But 2 is 1 helped accelerate my purchasing of gold. I love diversity in my gold portfolio - it's the 'collector' in me - not a 'stacker'. In my humble opinion, the premiums I'm paying on 1/4 ouncers, and fractional 5-10 gram bars, will evaporate if the dollar, the economy, inflation, and goodness knows, all the other factors that will hit our wallets and $ savings, send gold up, up, up. Set it (buy it) and forget it.

For me it's pretty easy. When I buy bullion from outside the US it's mostly a Maple leaf. The numbers don't lie and the buy sell spread is the slimmest for them. I like the Britannia's too (and I own one) but for me I get a little less back when I resell them. I decided that I'm ok with keeping my sales under 25 ounces of Maples a year or just taking the paperwork hit if I have to sell more. Thanks and good luck with your choice!

I didn't want to barter for a gallon a gas holding only a $2,000 Eagle. Since getting that out of my system I'm now sticking with 1oz and 1/4 oz Eagles, 1oz, 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz Maples, although recently I couldn't resist a gold Queens Beast. Glad to see you dipping your toe into the Maple waters...however I did sell 3 1oz Maples just a couple of months ago and could get only $10 below spot for them...I did purchase a couple rolls of silver Britannias and they're beautiful. One of these days I need to buy a 50 gold pesos 1.205 troy ounces. They go for about $2,400 to $3000 depending on year and condition.

One would be pretty set with a tube of buffs and eagles. USA USA USA!
Or just a mixed tube. No doubles.

:( I bought my first ounce of gold, an APMEX bar. The shipment took a while (Not their fault) and I had to pick it up at a UPS store in the end. The quality leaves something to be desired. I can't tell if it's just the plastic case it came in, but it looks like there's a tiny bubble and maybe a few scratches.
