I love how the characters outside of Sherlock and Watson are developed into whole people in the series. In the books, most of them are given passing and slight page time. Mycroft, Mrs. Hudson, Mary (so disappointed she was killed), and Molly (new just for the series) have become some of my favorites. The series would not be even close to wonderful without them. Although I was terribly disappointed with his writing in series 4 of Sherlock, I still admire and respect him for his earlier work on the show and his other projects. He's achieved such an extraordinarily rare and enviable position in the industry: how many people get to write *and* act in their own pet project that becomes a massive international hit? He's also getting better and better as an actor - I thought his performance in London Spy was outstanding. So, even if I can never forgive him for the atrocities that were The Six Thatchers and The Final Problem, Mark Gatiss is still a class act and a role model for me!
Disagree with the Final Problem as I personally enjoyed it for what it was. Was it the greatest finale? No, however there was a lot to enjoy about it. It's a shame you didn't feel the same way, but I do agree about six Thatchers it was easily one of the poorest episodes in the show.
Ryan Jones I think the Six Thatchers is fine. It's not his strongest writing but the first half of the episode is enjoyable. After that it starts to be about Mary and I really can't stand her as a character. Her death-scene was cringeworthy, although that is probably the directors fault. I really cannot understand why people enjoyed The Final Problem 'for what it was'. What it was: Shit. A big mess. Absolutely nothing made any sense and there wasn't any character progression. Also, I couldn't buy half the plot because Sherlock's "forgotten sister". This is Sherlock Holmes we are talking about. He does not have a sister and even if he did, he would have found out easily. The Final Problem is just one plot hole after another. It's plain bad.
Bernhardina Hörnstein I agree, although I think that there was a character development. I think Sherlock towards the end he embraced his emotions in order to solve his problem/case with his sister which makes him better bc it gives him emotional intellect. I think this could have been achieved without the sister, it was unnecessary, the plot was really poor and it had massive holes and cracks all over it. They could have given us an end in which John and Sherlock expressed their feelings towards each other and embrace them as they were, that would have given him a devolpment without the shitty forgotten sister plot.
I like how people have such wildly different views and opinions on season 4! I'd love to be able to temporarily swap part of my brain with them so I could see an episode I hated through the eyes of someone who loved it and vice versa.
since we are all on a break waiting for more Sherlock, please put pen to paper & think of all of the new scenarios of where he can go when you finally get to do it again. Your passion makes great entertainment for us all. Tick tock.
An Adventure in Space and Time was brilliant. Mark was one of the main reasons I studied Media back at College and University. "Well if Mark Gatiss can write Scripts, then why can't I?" haha
Dear mark , if anyone should follow Peter up in playing the doctor, it should be Eddie Redmayne. like if you agree. Sincerely a long time fan. Nice video BAFTA.
Gatiss seems like a genuinely nice guy. Great writer.
Fun fact Mark Gatiss also plays Mycroft & Writes all of the episodes
@@arjun2302 we all know that mate?

love his advice about writing -- seems so simple, yet it's so true

Will there be a series 5? The end of series 4 very much felt like the very end of sherlock :(
Sherlock season 4 was simply magnificent and perfect. Can't wait for season 5!
Such a lovely, brilliant gentleman.
He looks so much different with a light beard. I wouldn't have recognized him. He's always Mycroft in my heart...or Stephen Gardiner.
Great advice. Thanks.
I adore this man. Legend! X
just great
Minecraft!
?
+JuiceTime think about it
Grace Keller ?
JuiceTime "Mycroft" sounds kind of like Minecraft
oh ok
Brilliant writer!
If someone wrote a script for Sherlock series 5, how would you submit it to you?
Guys. Either he's wearing his husband's jacket. Or Ian has worn his several times. Either way? Precious
I love his voice.
Genius
I think Arthur Conan Doyle's estate may take issue with the title...
The Best writer ❤️
I want one of those letters.

or jordan peterson
I'm in love ❤️❤️❤️
When is season 5 coming?
Every two years on January the 1st...
Gatiss: Actor, Adapter, Amazing, but he is not the creator.
If you want to improve you need to find a way to get ton of feedback so you can improve.
14?
He is decent but I dont know who was in charge but someone f**ked that show up. It started off good and then just devolved quickly
Queerbaiting? No??
