1000s of beds that are only slept on for 2 weeks is pretty wasteful. So the bed is uncomfortable, I spent many a night in Iraq or Afghanistan sleeping on the ground and still expected to be at my best the next day. I have no sympathy.

I am retired USAF now. I had to go to Somalia with the Marines. Everybody was getting the lightest sleeping bag they could get issued to them. I got an extreme cold weather one to use as a mattress and slept on top of it. I think my sleeping arrangement in the desert was better than the Olympic athletes. There's some thinking running that place... Not!

I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, home of the 1996 World Summer Olympics. They were smart enough to build a lot of the stadiums and athletes dormitories on college campuses that are still being used today. Although I didn’t live in the state back then, that was when Olympics was much more respected.
I'd been tossing up whether to pay the $15 to watch the Olympics on Stan but was concerned they might be woke. They are obviously woke so I will save my $15.

A durable product is an environmentally product. If the mattresses and beds are made to last, there's no reason to spend more resources trying to recycle them, as soon as the Olympic Games are over. Paris is the most visited city in the world, surely they could re-use them in various ways for hotels & tourism.
