You may have fallen out of love with Godzilla.
But Godzilla still loves you.
This is my favorite comment by far🤣
I can honestly say I doubt anyone can top this comment!!😂😂😂😂
Godzilla is special. But most people don't really get why. Most people I've seen are like, "Oh yeah, he's cool."They just can't grasp why he's special. The reason he's been relevant for this long is because if how flexible and versatile he is as a character. He can be in just about anything and work most of the time. He's just a phenomenally thought-out character. 2014 is when I first saw the character, I loved it, and I still do to this day. It's my personal favorite movie in the monsterverse, and one of my favorites in the entire franchise (right behind shin godzilla and minus one). I'm glad to see you back in the community!
P.S. I hope you read all of this lol
I remember falling out of love for Godzilla around the time superhero, fantasy and sci fi films were going through a rebirth in the early 2000s.
Godzilla was cool when your imagination filled the gaps for the shotty special effects but when movies like Lord of the Rigns, Harry Potter and Star Wars were making leaps in what fiction could be, Godzilla just felt underwhelming and cheap.
2014 changed everything for me. Godzilla 2014 was so refreshing that I fell back in love with Godzilla and each Monsterverse entry made me that much more invested and proud.
Minus One is a masterpiece but it's not the reason i love Godzilla. I give Legendary that credit and I will always be grateful for the Monsterverse because it reguvinated my love for fiction and Godzilla.
I got introduced to Godzilla with that “monster roars” video you just might know the one.
I lost interest for a bit in 2023 because college made me feel like being a fan was a bad thing until Minus one and GxK came around, they reminded me why I love Godzilla and my dad said to me after watching Minus one "I'm glad you're a Godzilla fan" that made me think i should ignore what these normies say and just be who I am.
KOTM is interesting for me. When I first saw it all the context I had for Godzilla was Zilla’98, Godzilla 2014 and Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters Melee (GC game) so when I saw it I was annoyed at the human plot getting in the way, then after watching Shin I became invested in the character and watched all the Showa and Hesei movies and watched a few of the Millenium, with all that context I re-watched KOTM and LOVED it, and then GMO and GxK became my favorites.
I now see the monsterverse as a wresltemania type event
I rewatched kotm shortly after this video, I absolutely love Mark as a character, the film has so much good but I feel it still fumbles on the last stretch
I’m happy that you are going through a new beginning. Things can change I hope you know that, but Godzilla will never change he will always be a character with multiple personalities that will never get old
I'd say the following out of love was majorly due to a misunderstanding of the character, who knows what 13-17 year old me thought, having grown, I'm able to see new things I didn't see before, which makes revisiting each film all the more exciting
You’re gonna have a blast I’ll tell you what.
Your story is basically mine.
Godzilla is one of the only thing's that I've made peace with in my just barely two decade life, and I have ultimately come to the conclusion that Godzilla's character potential and writing will always peak from the franchises birth, and everything else that tried to capture what 54 did. I was sick of being disappointed with every new entry and not seeing filmmakers take Godzilla to his limits. Minus One had the ingredients, and to me, it came out burnt. I mean, you wanna know how I feel about this series now? We haven't gotten a new Toho Godzilla roar in over twenty years... that should say everything. I feel no growth, no evolution with this franchise. They had so many chances, both Japan and America, and blew them so far away.
So now, I just see Godzilla as something fun, to laugh at, to escape to when life hits your gut and holds back your vomit. When I was younger it's all I knew Godzilla as. He was fun, comforting, and I think I made the right decision in leaving the potential this character had, and embracing what was best for me. Not the series. So yes, I love Godzilla, always will, and I have the Showa Era, 2000's games, Blue Oyster Cult's classic, old nostalgic YT vids, and that beautiful, chaotic mess from 04, awaiting me when I need them.
Great video establishing!!
Well the opposite happened to me. I saw KOTM and I fell right back in love with Godzilla! When I watched 2014 I felt meh
I love how the comments are split between people who watched the video and people who think that this is a Skipper situation
What’s a Skipper situation?
@@megawarrior_101 A term the Fandom now uses when someone(NOT this guy) make a video sucking the meat of -1 and shittng on the MV without prior knowledge and research. Or just trend riding.
@@Kaijuenjoyer-nv7qn I see.
Finally, a Godzilla fan that doesn't pretend that kotm is this masterpiece of a movie
Why someone should someone pretend of liking a movie? People are gonna have their preferences, so don’t say they just ‘pretend’
@@donatodicugno3630 people can like bad movies, just don't say it's an actual good one is what I'm saying.
@@elessarismail3717but it is a good movie tho 💀
@@jorzillab.413 It's not... lol
@@elessarismail3717 it is tho 💀
I just like Godzilla because he's well, Godzilla, I love everything Godzilla and kaiju, ever since I was a wee little lad.
So true
Groovy story.
Go establishing
🙌
Excited for the KOTM review. That movie is so close to great, but falls down into just kind of bad.
Finished writing up it's section of the video last night, it's such an interesting film, so much to admire, but so many issues
@@establishingthrills I resent the movie more than is reasonable honestly, because it's defenses always annoy me. I enjoy the movie, but it's not good just because Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra are in it. GxK is literally shoe horns Mothra in after the movie was already done, and she still does more in that movie and acts more like Mothra than the KOTM version.
@@mycaleb8no, she doesn’t, in GxK Mothra was useless and didn’t contribute to the movie at all, she was the definition of useless, she didn’t feel that useless since Destroy All Monsters. KOTM did more with her tbh 💀.
And people have other reasons to like KOTM other than the presence of the original TOHO monsters, be serious right now 💀
@@donatodicugno3630 Nope. She actually ends the conflict between Godzilla and Kong. Is an important part of Jia's Arc, noticeably restores balance, has worshipers, safes people, and doesn't die
@@mycaleb8the fact that Mothra was supposed to be Fosphera, a whole other monster, just shows how unimportant she was. She stops Godzilla from killing Kong m, but then what? She doesn’t do anything else, she didn’t contribute to the victory of the final battle, she didn’t do anything useful. She doesn’t restore balance in GxK, she is just THERE, Jia has no arc, and yeah, she doesn’t die, but why does it matter? She was still useless, and Mothra dying is just part of her character at this point. It has been for years. She saves people in KOTM too, you’d know that if you actually watched it, and in that movie she actually contributes to the plot: she helps Monarch in in finding out that Godzilla was still alive, she helps them find his location so that they can help him, she actively helps in the final fight, and while she dies, she is the reason why Godzilla is able to kill Ghidorah and win. She did more in KOTM and was the reason why Godzilla won in the end, and she still acted like the actual character.
Inspiring
You were never a fan of Godzilla if you can fall out of love for him so easily
You're clearly gatekeeping if you think you have any say in what makes someone a fan😬
@@establishingthrills I gave my opinion after watching your video, which is true.
If you are a fan of something and then you suddenly fall out of love for him, then you were never a fan.
@Kardam_LuciFer you're explanation contradicts itself, you need to be a fan to fall out of love, and if falling out of love means you weren't a fan, then you couldn't have fallen out of love. People go through periods of disinterest in certain topics, it happens all the time, and assuming you watched the whole video, you would know that this is just one of those cases
@@establishingthrillsYeah, but I don't think that if you fall out of love with a character, or anyone in general, just because they are shown a bit differently in the newest movies than what you were used to, then you ever really liked or were a fan of that character. You were simply a fan of those movies or interpretations.
You didn't like Goji, you liked how he is shown.
If you are going to say that suddenly he is a bit different, I don't like him anymore then you never liked him
@@Kardam_Lucifer you clearly misunderstood the video
SAM CAMEO!!!
I’m still wacting😊
It was kinda the opposite for me. KOTM got me back into Godzilla, despite it's bad human characters it was a love letter to kaiju fans like me, and you cant deny that Ghidorah was done and portrayed really well
I will deny Ghidorah being portrayed well, but I'll save that for the upcoming video
@@establishingthrills I would like to hear your reasoning for that. Although beware of toxic fans that will burn you st the stake for saying such a thing 😂
I absolutely still kotm to this day! It’s my favorite movie in the franchise and has the best human characters behind the 2014 movie im.
I didn’t like kotm either. It would’ve been better if it wasn’t a direct sequel to 2014. These movies are so different in tone and direction that it’s pretty jarring to watch them back to back.
Godzilla 2014 is a more grounded, grim disaster movie that displays epic, while limited, monster battles. Also, the human drama is good enough to immerse and invest the audience, especially in the first act.
Kotm is a messy, fanservice-filled fever dream of a movie that also desperately wants to be the MCU but with Kaiju, all the way down to the bad jokes, ridiculously over the top fights and after-credit scenes.
And yes, I know all my negatives about kotm are things that toho themselves has done before in their own movies, and it can work.
But not when your movie is a follow-up to 2014, one of the most grounded takes on Godzilla ever.
Godzilla KOTM is still the best of the monster verse. And it’s the only true Godzilla film that Hollywood has made
GXK, GVK, G14 > KOTM
@@lux4163all of them>>>>98
@@lux4163Vader is speaking fax tbbh
Edit: I said this just before may 4th, and I wasn’t even thinking about it until today
Nah, the disrespect to G14 is crazy
The hate KotM gets now is the reason why Godzilla fans don't deserve nice things.
Why am I the only commenting
Womp womp
Yeah no, I will always be a life long fan of the franchise
I'd recommend watching the whole video, the title isn't the full story🙏
@@establishingthrills I will, it's that I have so much knowledge on Godzilla that it's impossible for me to be apart from it
@@establishingthrills Just finished watching the video, it's very dope, and even I was also dissatisfied with KOTM too and I saw it 5 times and I was always still disappointed
So sad
King of the monsters was great you bastard. 😡
Ikr but do you have to use that emoji
My guy just because he doesn’t enjoy Kotm doesn’t mean you have to act almost like you are personally offended. I love Kotm but even I can see the many flaws with that film, so please don’t act rude or harass people for not liking something that you do enjoy.
@Bread-Sliced i think their trolling because those emojis signal trolling
>:(
Bro this guy just pulls random stuff to make it seem that Godzilla is terrible and says minus one is good which is true but don’t know where he gets that KOTM is bad like it was a great movie what does bro expect
This is a very opinionated video, not a deep dive into any films, its my love and appreciation for Godzilla over the years, I thought kotm sucked leaving the theater, whether you thought it was good or not doesnt change that fact. This is not a video to put down individual films, it is perfectly normal to not like movies in a franchise this long.
Look I love Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but I think you missed the point of the video.
It’s just his opinion, lay off.
At least watch the fucking video first.
I swear people will go straight to accusations or whatever without even watching or understanding the context behind these videos.
