Your videos alone have given me a great appreciation for blue lock and its story. Before I just read blue lock just for the hype moments and evolution of my fav characters, but thanks to your insights and character studies, GOD DAM! I didn't the author was cooking like this! Thank you bro🙏🙏
Absolutely phenomenal! One of your best for sure. I really think this couldn't have come at a better time with how Blue Lock has recently been getting hit with critiques about how it's seemingly "fallen off" in terms of thematic resonance and writing quality since we've entered the NEL. A part of me feels like it just has to do with the influx of new readers/viewers, but I have seen the same sentiments parroted by people whose analysis I once appreciated and respected. Blue Lock has a major media literacy problem. I think the two main proponents of that have been people misunderstanding Isagi's newfound ego type categorization system and sizable portion of the community's misunderstanding that development isn't always linearly going up (especially with how Rin, Kaiser and Nagi have stagnated/learned the wrong lessons). I really look forward to your own takes on both topics as the PXG match winds down and we conclusions to some of the long-terms developments and set-ups from the NEL and even prior. Especially since Nagi's re-awakening is on the horizon and as of writing this, Kaiser and Rin have had their first semblances of further growth and change. Also, I love the observation of how Isagi's battle with Yuki was the stop-gap before he could properly face Kaiser, as Isagi has repeatedly stated that Kaiser serves as a stop-gap between him and Noel Noa. Blue Lock is loves having "the curtains were blue" style nods at every turn where you're left to wonder how much of it was intended (especially with it being an author artist duo, where it's more difficult to portray details like that), yet every aspect meshes so swimmingly that you really can't imagine it having been an accident.
Really glad you enjoyed this one Macey! In all fairness I think people have been decrying the decline of Blue Lock ever since I caught up so I've stopped caring about that too much haha. I 100% agree that we're not supposed to see NEL progression as linear at all and especially for Kaiser that his arc isn't finished - that's why I've mostly shied away from those bits so far. I'm still constantly in awe of the amount of intentionality in Blue Lock, down to very minor details. There's clearly a very strong overarching vision to an extent that I rarely see anywhere else. Also, I'll have lots to say about Rin in the upcoming two videos, which will hopefully place recent manga events into a bigger picture. Both topics which I've been very excited to work on and I think you'll really enjoy them!
This video is insanely good, I loved the vision puns throughout. I’m a nagi x reo girl at my core but I couldn’t help being defeated when I first read their “reunion,” it made me sad for Reo. But this video brought a new perspective to that and how the philosophies of the teams and players are being challenged. Great job as always
Thanks so much, really glad to hear you enjoyed it! I totally get that about the Nagi-Reo reunion. I've gone back and forth about it a lot, it's a very ambiguous scene for sure. I'm confident though that it's not supposed to be purely bad for either of them, and that there's gonna be a development down the line with a more interesting conclusion than 'co-dependancy bad'. (Btw, in case you haven't seen them yet, my U20 and Ubers analyses are at least as good as this one)
🎉Thank you so much for yet another great analysis! As always, I've particularly appreciated how articulate and meticulous you are when you expose your thoughts. This match is drenched in symbolism, especially regarding the concepts of human limitations/human potential. I think that the linking element could be the idea that true godhood can only be achieved in the frames of "doable" human progression. If you try to force your possibilities with blind faith, you'll become too full of yourself and delusional. That's basically what happened to Yuki, who couldn't come to terms with his objective limitations and only trusted in his dream and his benevolent idea of God/destiny. On the other hand, we have Chigiri, who was on a very similar trajectory because of his time bomb knee injury. During the U20 match, he was forced to meet the consequences of his past, but instead of closing his eyes and just believing his dream would come true no matter what (hoping in the fairness of God), he decided to face his weakness head on. It's interesting that Chigiri's journey in MC has been a complete success, while Yuki needed a wakeup call. Chigiri has his eyes set on an ideal version of himself, but based on perfectly reasonable and reachable goals, because he understands he could never be who he was before, so he accepted to cultivate only the potential that his new version of himself has. He basically realized the perfect mix between passion/idealization and rationality. I guess this element of "mediation" is rooted in different elements of the story, and it's not a coincidence that flow state can only be reached by chasing an objective that provides just the right amount of challenges. What this "right amount" is, though, is completely subjective. Everyone could become God if only they knew themselves, that's my final take, I guess. I'd really love to know your ideas about Rin and Isagi (was this the other rivalry you were referring to?), but whatever the topic might be I for sure will be commenting on your next video and leaving a big thumbs up. Have a nice day 😊
Ahw thanks so much, always appreciate the messages 😊 You're absolutely right there of course, I really like the way you brought in Blue Lock's approach to flow as well! The thing I find really cool about Manshine though is that, although taking a 'rational' approach to your ideals is promoted for most of the match (especially in Chigiri and Isagi), it actually hands the win to Blue Lock's uncompromising dreamer. Which is, I think, very relevant because the entire Blue Lock programme is about realising impossible dreams (a middling football nation winning the world cup and producing the world's best striker). Realising now that I really should have put that in the video haha. Apologies for the tangent, I actually have a ton of notes on the theme of dreams in Blue Lock going back over a year but delving into that properly feels kinda daunting, so I keep putting it off. One of these days though! My next two videos will both feature Rin extensively btw, although they'll more focused on the wider context of recent manga events and not purely dedicated to the past few chapters. Also, I know that content creators always say their next thing will be great and all, but my next topic is genuinely one I've really wanted to talk about since June, so I'm super excited to start working on that one! Btw re: the other rivalry I hinted at. The ideas are still a bit half-baked because a lot of it depends on how PXG concludes, but I strongly suspect that the Isagi-Yukimiya conflict will turn out to be a smaller-scale version of the arc-long rivalry between Isagi and Kaiser. I'm sure I'll expand on this sometime down the line though.
@suzelsmanga Yuki's goal was definitely the product of his uncompromising spirit, so I agree that Blue Lock is all about dreams and their weight, especially impossible ones. Nothing great could be born from someone who can't dream. I guess the point I was trying to make is that you can only make the impossible possible if you sustain your dreams with reasonable and realistic progress towards them. Just dreaming isn't enough. Like Ego himself said, you'll waste your life and ambitions if you live for the sake of a dead-end fantasy, where chasing the dream, not actually conquering it, ends up becoming your vocation. Yuki's goal came from his incredible passion and defiance towards Isagi's cold reality, yes, but he wouldn't have scored without Isagi bringing him "God's favor." (Isagi's playmaking was necessary to allow Yuki's "magic" to manifest). I think Blue Locks philosophy generally rewards dreamers and crazy people, but they need to 1)Set up a realistic route made out of doable steps to make sure that their dream could actually become true 2)Getting too full of yourself and too caught up in your own bubble will bring you to ruin - it happened to Barou, Yuki and later on Kaiser, so in order to overcome the bridge between ideal and reality, more lofty dreams, more protagonisms need to collide and flock together (like you perfectly pointed out in the vid). That's why BL is the place where soccer burns the hottest, and that's also why Isagi, the character who's probably the most focused on analyzing others and himself, is absolutely flourishing. What's interesting is that Ego's idea is not about uniting multiple dreams to enforce cooperation and teamwork. It's almost the opposite. Chemical reactions can only happen when elements collide against each other, after all, in a violent explosion. Even the metaphor about unrefined gems brings out the idea of improving through attrition, a bruising process between different entities that polish each other by tumbling into the same restricted space. I yapped so much, sorry! I'll wait for your Rin video, I was actually hoping you'd talk about him and the concepts built around his character. Again, have the nicest day, see you in the next one.
@@suzelsmanga thanks, I usually struggle a lot to explain my thoughts in a cohesive way, especially in English. Since you write so well, I'm happy you appreciated my effort 🤣 🩷

Great analysis. Been waiting for a rational and ideal analysis on the Manshine City vs Bastard München match. In order to achieve your true potential and levels of godhood, you have to focus on all your eyes, physical stats, ideals, independence, coexistence, egoism and passions rather than the exact opposite of those
not even all the way through, but absolutely incredible video as always! the detail of kaiser and kunigami appearing with their bodies shown off before the match and yukimiya and chris' modeling session were something i never gave much thought and really shows kaneshiro's masterful use of subtext and intentionality
Hey glad to hear that! The level of detail keeps blowing me away as well, it's for things like these that I still enjoy covering Blue Lock despite being at it for over a year
I love how blue lock says you need to find your own balance, isagi has one of the best eyes in the series yet he still needs to work on his physicality. Kungami has the best physicality yet doesn't have an ego anymore, I hope he reinvents his hero complex to match his newfound skills.

great video as always suzels these match analysis' are always so fun to watch and when rereading puts thing in a different perspective. also im kinda interested in what u think about the pxg game so far.
Hey thanks so much, really nice to hear that! As for PXG I'm enjoying it more and more as it progresses. The beginning felt less interesting than the other three NEL matches but especially since we've gotten the Kaiser and Rin developments I've been loving it. Also I'm slowly getting the feeling that it might be more thematically coherent than I first thought (in all fairness for the Ubers match it was also only in the last quarter of the match that I realised how everything ties in together). Once it wraps I'll definitely do a full analysis of the NEL as a whole, but I might also do a dedicated PXG analysis depending on if I find enough thematic coherence separate from the overarching NEL stuff
@@suzelsmanga I would love to see a pxg analysis video in the future. There’s a lot already from this game I feel especially the fact that Kaiser and rin didn’t take the shot for a guaranteed goal and I would love to see what you think the meaning is behind that
Another thing to note. During the match, nagi's image of death surges up but it's only half as he lacks the playmaking and motivation but with reo becoming his brains, it manifests fully in the half and half panel of the two's aura. But as soon as nagi scores the super goal, the death aura of nagi fades feeling that he has conquered the world. At a later point in the story, isagi tells niko that he got drunk of his newfound perspective and didnt take everything into account. In that sense, its likely that reo felt the same way as the NEL progressed, and the whole thing about egocentrism is kind of ironic. Where isagi saw the interconnecting stories coming together, reo failed to take sight of the emotional intelligence and perspective of his other half just because of the combined auction value they have being higher than isagi's. Maybe I'm reading too deep into this stuff but just wanted to put this out there.
@@suzelsmanga oh hey, thanks man. I also think that there might be hints of Nagi's return to form in the last match. In the 4v4 of isagi vs Rin, Nagi is the one who tells Bachira that he's useless the way he is and that isagi and he would probably pick Rin over him causing Bachira to 'awaken his original ego'. It's possible that something similar was planned by the author of Nagi's rise and downfall, for Bachira to make him discover his original ego at the last match, the one he ridiculed giving him the spark he desired most. Sorry for the overanalysis, I don't really have anyone else to tell this stuff to so you can use it in your videos.
Yeah 100% agreed, that's a train I'm on as well. Plus there's another really interesting intersection between Nagi and Bachira, namely that finding joy in football is an central aspect to each of their stories. So there's also the facet of Nagi who didn't enjoy Manshine-style football being confronted with the epitome of playing out of pure enjoyment. (Also tbh my channel attracts folks who like to write essays in the comment section haha, and it's legitimately cool to me that I seem to giving people lots of food for discussion)
