I use this function all the time, It would be great if this functionality would be available for subassemblies as well. I pitched this idea on the PTC forum about 5 years ago already. Are the other “replace by” functions interesting to look into (apart from replace by family table member and unrelated copy)?
I’ve heard it pitched at the Technical Committee meetings multiple times so I’m pretty sure Paul has investigated it. I suspect there are technical reasons that must be preventing it from going forward.
Great Video! What do I do if I change my mind? I replaced the coupling rod with a copy, and then I don't like it, and want to go back to the original version? Is there an easy way to do that?
Good overview. I never noticed replacing as a skeleton. Nice trick and useful. Do you ever use replace with reference model and if so, what is a use case for that?
You have to modify a part which changes form, fit, or function, requiring a part number change. You create the new part using Inheritance and then swap out the old part in parent assemblies.
I believe you can open the model, do a save as and select copy associated drawings then go back to the assembly and do a replace with unrelated component, select your new one and redefine its assembly references. A few extra steps but it will get you the desired result
What version of Creo are you using? Graphics Reps were deprecated in Creo 4.0. Prior to that, they were created automatically in assemblies. See my video on Simplified Reps (the 3.0, not 5.0, version of the video).
@@niravsapariya5575 No need to use Graphics Rep in Creo 4.0. Use the Automatic Rep. See my video on Simplified Reps in 5.0. (I made it in 5.0 but it applies to 4.0.)
Out standing.
Thanks, Frank!

How to do multi copy for same part
When you copy the model and there is a drawing associated to it in the Workspace, would it also copy the drawing?
No it wont
