    Getting my BDV Duo installed by Mule Expedition on March 1!!!
    Thanks for all the in depth reviews and your personal input. Decided to purchase the tent before I even set foot in it, and when I was able to see it in person on Feb 17 at iKampers garage sale, I knew I had made the right decision

    It's a great looking tent! I like my softshell for the space, but it takes forever to pack up with the cover. This would be better for multi day trips for sure. That solar panel is amazing.

    Nice video. You left out the biggest purchasing factor on ikampers, the price. I think there’s a number of tents on the market now that give me pause on the value of ikampers.

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад +13

      There’s a couple things you’re paying for for an ikamper product. One is the customer service and warranty. They are excellent. But another is the fabric they use. No one else can compete with them (to my knowledge at least) with the fabric. Most aren’t breathable at all, or sometimes way too breathable. Ikamper really nailed the balance here

    Id probably throw a few stitches in the straps through those roof buckles once you have them set nicely. Good video - I'm on the fence about jumping to a wedge. Also, I don't think your fridge ever runs at 50W (~1Amp x 12V =12W)

  • @TILB
    @TILB 5 месяцев назад

    Hell yea. Been wainting on a review. I really want this tent but I'd have to change my rack build to make it happen. (Tacoma shortbed, skaycamp Mini but I have a mid rack so i'd have to change the diamondback bed rack system to match the top rack and remove a roof rack case to fit this)
    The solar panel section is a huge win for me. I wish the Mini had a rack system.
    BDV question.. do the side windows have the clear weather windows like the skycamp series? or are they just canvas and screen?

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад

      The bdv is sweet man I’m loving it! I think it’s worth the changing of the setup just cause set up and tear down is so much easier that the skycamp
      And they are screen and canvas, no clear window. However, you can buy those vista windows from them as an accessory so you can put them on if you want

    Have you experienced any of the cracking in the top aluminum frame as another video has shown? I just have the hardest time justifying a $2k+ Tent that is attached with 8 loops of fabric holding it up. Would a channel with a zipper up top really have been that difficult to incorporate?

    Thanks for the review. What about the provided mattress? Comfortable? Thick enough? I think I saw there was an upgrade you could purchase from them..Do you need it or is the one that comes with good enough?

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад

      It was comfy for me. The matresses that came in the skycamp 2.0s was super uncomfortable. This mattress is certainly improved. I actually used it for my 6 night BDR trip. But the air mattress is still a lot letter and worth the upgrade

    That opening angle does look pretty shallow compared to the competition. I’m in the market to get a wedge style tent (replacing my pop up RTT) mainly because of the lack of head room. This tent doesn’t look like it would work for me…😊

  • @Monkeyseemonkey79
    @Monkeyseemonkey79 Месяц назад

    How tall are you and how is the leg/foot room? A lot of people seem to complain about the low) end of the CVT Mt Hood as its too cramped (low) for your feet.

    curious on the side entrance with no rain fly .... when raining the door will be wet... then folds into the tent... getting the bedding wet? how wet do you get when getting in and out? seems like it would be impossible to not have wet bedding?

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад +1

      My bedding is on the opposing side of the tent. But if you were sleeping a double it might be an issue. It honestly hasn’t been a big problem though. Not a lot of water if any get in the tent. That said, I would love to see a rain fly for the side

    Can you stand up in it? How do you like the ladder with no shoes?

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад

      Definitely can not stand up in it. But there no roof top tent that you can.
      Honestly never been on the ladder barefoot. It’s not aggressively textured so other than being hot or cold I think it would be totally fine

    How does the bronco handle that extra weight as far as gas mileage, rattles, etc….

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  5 месяцев назад

      No rattles. Gas mileage definitely took a dip and the power is still good, but you can tell it’s weighed down a little. Having the weight that high up is not great when the trail gets tilty, but that’s the case with any roof mounted tent. Overall though, the bronco handles it really well

      I’m not sure what you’re talking about. The gap between the rack and the tent is by design so it doesn’t rattle

    • @OFFTHEGRIND
      @OFFTHEGRIND  3 месяца назад +2

      I disagree. In addition to myself, I can point you in the direction of people who will give you an unbiased look at stuff. I tell every company that I work with that I will give an honest review. Things I like and things I don’t like just like I did in this video. And they also want that because they realize a completely positive review isn’t realistic, nor gains trust with an audience which ultimately will translate to less sales.
