  • Ten years on from the most intense days of rioting to hit England in recent years, Sky News speaks to one victim of the rage and one of those thrown into prison.
The damage done to major cities and businesses has since been cleared up, but campaigners say there was no fund set up to address the causes behind the violence itself.

When people get neglected they have a right to protest, but it's opportunistic people who'll ruin it for the people that need change, and the original message gets lost. It happens again and again but people will still be neglected because "hooligans just wanted to break things". Its just not that simple

So how have we moved on? How does taking a TV relate to police brutality; The main issue the riots started was Mark Duggan''s interaction with the police. The second was the increases to university tuition fees and the removal of Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). So again, how have we moved on?

wow it's really been over a decade since it happened . i remember it very well cause it had spread into my hometown and sadly i was trapped in mare street at the time.
here's the story from my perspective :
i had just finished up in the job center and i was going to the supermarket to pick up some bread and milk before heading home. i had only just got in to the supermarket when all of a sudden the shutters were closed everyone was wondering WTH (what the hell) was going on they announced that a riot was going on outside and they wanted to keep everyone inside safe. there was panic but everybody was safe. i called my mother at home to tell her that i was going to late home she asked me where i was and i told her that i was inside the supermarket and i couldn't get home for a while but at the same time she was watching the news on tv. it was then she realised the reason why i couldn't get home. she panicked and was crying on the phone but thankfully it was over in two hours and i made it home safe but it looked like a warzone outside. HOPE IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. (hopefully?????) and yes i am a hackney resident. but sadly because of the riot i had been diagnosed with PTSD and now unable to work cause i keep having recurring nightmares because of it to this day.... sorry i can't comment anymore cause it brings up very bad memories of that day.
