Department( I mean they couldn't even write a good main character so they had to make another blank slate after ODST had a blank slate character plus the overall god awful writing of Halo 3 and Reach).
I mean there's also the fact that according to the Halo Wars 1 devs bungee was nearly impossible to work with because they barely helped. The man children at bungie were throwing a MASSIVE tantrum at Microsoft that they let another developer make a spin-off Halo game and since that wasn't working they decided to take their anger out on the developers on Halo Wars 1 which is why the game came out the way it did. Just because people were more human a decade ago doesn't mean it's 343's fault that you can't find anyone to chat with on the multi-player.
And let's be real here for a minute, 343 has very little to do with why people don't chat online like they used to, it's called the report toxic player button.
No one talks online anymore hardly because everyone is afraid they say something which will upset someone else and get their account banned.

@@DevonHberman-im6bxI think the idea he's trying to get across is that the older games were so fun that people would hop into the game chat. Not wrong about games getting quieter nowadays but it not as prominent in casual multiplayer as its is in competitive.
343 made the mistake of focusing heavily on the competitive side of Halo's multiplayer and have continued to fumble with it so bad that Halo's basically a shell of its former self. Story, Maps and Weapon's wise the new games have been trash, with Halo 5 being the biggest joke of the trio.
Praying Halo is given to people who actually know why old Halo was a console seller and not left in the hands of idiots who've been screwing it up for over a decade.

I stood in line for every Halo game, Halo: Reach being the last one I did that for.
Halo Reach wasn't as big of a phenomenon as the previous Halo's were but you can definitely see how it's Bungie last hurrah.
Halo 3 will forever be one of my all-time favorite multiplayer experience, should've ended there.
343 just needs to let Halo rest in peace already, it's a shell of its former self and they continue to beat it like a dead horse.

With friends coming over to come play 4 player splitscreen. It was wild, I remember the halo 3 hysteria when the hunt for recon armor was a thing, me and my little brother would play the campaign over and over again looking for cool things to try and unlock that armor secretly, what we did end up finding though was the dirge of madrigal whom of which a KSI member "upon showing him this secret music" immediately recruited us into the group. Getting into KSI was like the biggest achievement at that time. Oh and don't forget the online hacker crisis. That they were gonna get you and steal everything. So. Other groups were seen as possible harbors for these hackers. So we fought them tooth and nail. But you know what. Outside of the game you could still find people raving about it.

Good AAA games that are driven by passion are too far and few between nowadays. I remember thinking that the future of gaming would be putting more stuff in a playable space and improved physics. As a huge Halo fan, who collected merch, read the books, went to parties where we played for hours in multiplayer (I lost every time, but I still had fun)… it’s hard to watch this franchise crumble. The show was a disaster, there was no real love for Halo in it, nor for the people who helped build it. Just felt like left over writing from another project that didn’t get the pass. The publicity for Halo feels like it’s geared towards people who aren’t just disinterested in Halo, but for people who aren’t even interested in video games. And as for Inifinite… I had hopes. I was naive. I was so patient. But nothing. We got a bare bones game that wasn’t made for Halo fans, not for gamers, only leaving us with the big question; who was this made for?
The only thing I like about Infinite is the campaign. That’s it though. And the Campaign has its own problems. At this point, I’m taking a break from Halo. I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but I hope one day Halo will get back on the right track. I want it to get back on the right track. Until then, I’m going to go play Zelda or Super Mario.

When Bungie left and 343 took over we were excited to see where the story went and looked forward to playing through the new games together.
Halo 4 wasn't great but it did have split screen when we got to play it.
Halo 5 comes in and takes a massive dump but we made it work, did hot seat rotation and eventually we both had Xboxs to play co-op.
Halo Infinite we looked to for change, a return to roots. Instead it broke our hearts as we realised we'd never be able to beat the full game series on Legendary as a co-op team, sitting side by side like we did when we were kids.
    Still makes me so sad.
