That is the real user review. We need more of this. The only thing is sinn watches are getting more expensive and I wonder they are worth it as I can get the same amount with chronometer certified watches from Mido or Tissot.
I own the 856 version (40mm, tegimented, etc) and love it! It’s nice to have a watch that you don’t need to baby or worry about. Definitely a life-long keeper!
I've been a watch collector for a long time and have never once thought to wear my nato strap like that. I'm going to try it out. I also own this exact red seconds 556 and it's one of my go to pieces. You have good taste.
I wanted to get the watch closer to my wrist. So first I cut the extra flap off my other nato and wore it like that. Then decided on folding and it worked out. Thanks for watching ✌🏼
Wow, an RVer with a taste for quality watches. Great watch Neemor! I always wanted one of those. Simple, Bauhaus clean, well made. Accuracy is the foundation of a great watch. It could have a Sapphire Crystal, the best looking dial, etc, and if it isn't accurate, the rest do not matter.

I am at a point similar to where you were with your Seiko and still contending with the void that I still have. Thanks for putting this video together and having that desire to share with others! Would love to see a follow up in the future.
I’ve had a 556 A for years and it’s been a great watch. Not antimagnetic as it claims but very water resistant. Not that you should dive with this, but I took it down 20 meters just out of curiosity.
Sinn is one of my favorites companies. It will last you a lifetime if you get it serviced every few years. 38mm is a great size. Right between the explorer one and explorer II. The aviator hands are great! Very easy to read. I wish the exp I hands were easier to read sometimes. Thanks for an excellent review!
@@NeemorsWorld it’s a “tool watch” not some fancy jewelry piece. Made to be worn and used! Really awesome to see this kind of review. Most reviews would be for some smart watch not a real watch. Thanks again!
True. Having smart watches always pinging me and having a dead battery when I look down at it made me look the other way. I like em for tracking hikes/runs but other than that I’ll take a mechanical or a Casio.
Really great review, thank you, inspired me, so I've ordered the 556 A, love the 556i but there's something about the layout and the numerals on the A that just got me. Thanks again, loved the review
I like that a lot, and have considered it. By the way...100 meters would be fine for swimming and rainy hikes. In fact I would take 100 meters with this watch for a slimmer case. Otherwise, a very good looking watch. I do wish it had double indices at 12.
@@PepRex I know. I never said it wasn't. I said I'd take it with 100 meters for a slimmer case. A compromise that I could live with. The case is a litte thick for my tastes and 200 meters is overkill. You can easily swim with 100 meters. That was the point of my comment.
What a fantastic watch and review. IMO an amazing piece for any collection. Would make for an exceptional gift for any young man to celebrate any of life’s milestones.
Hey man, great review. Thinking of picking up one myself. Just a quick note, you can easily turn any double-pass nato (like the one in this video) into a single-pass nato by simply slicing off the excess piece (sharp knife or scissors) and melting the remaining end with a lighter. Don't have to do any of that folding business.
Pretty cool, I’ve followed you since the hiking days, but this is up my alley as well. I’ve recently gotten interested in mechanical watches as well, mostly as a reaction against technology, too. There are a bunch of really quality (for the price) 200-300m watches made by microbrands with decent Seiko or Sellita movements in the $200-400 range that are my jam right now. I do love the simplicity of a good field watch, but I agree with your comment that it’s strange that they’re mostly not waterproof enough for true field use. This watch is more in the Rolex Explorer vein. Glad you’re enjoying it, and actually using it as it was designed instead of babying it.
I hadn’t looked at it until you mentioned it, but in the realm of chronographs I’m more interested in the Sugess watches built using the Seagull ST1901 movements. The moon swatch is quartz, and only looks to be water resistant to 3 bars. I do have one “pretty” dress watch, but the rest of my watches all have screw-down crowns, which I think is more befitting a tool watch. Quartz movements are great (I have a beater G-Shock that I wear for working on cars or anything really abusive), but I’m just enjoying the mechanical movements.
Fascinating to see a guy I came to know as an ultralight backpacker (still presumably doing that, right?) being so passionate about what is a basic time-keeping and fashion accessory item. ;-) But I suppose vicarious enjoyment is also enjoyment! :-) And I definitely get how much you like this (admittedly very stylish) thing. I am wondering, though, why a mechanical watch when there are fantastic digital alternatives out that, for example the solar-powered Casio ProTrek I‘ve been using for a great many years without ever needing to wind, change batteries or whatever? Is is just because of the looks? My ProTrek not only tells me the time, but also tracks drops/rises in barometric pressure (as an early bad-weather warning system or a ray of hope when out hiking), the temperature, etc. In city life, wearing a watch is something a never do, what with the clock on my phone and a general desire to live in a more timeless space as much as possible. Just curious what knowing the time means for you, and why not a multi-purpose digital watch, instead? And heck: If it‘s just because of the looks, I can understand that, too. Different strokes, ya know? ;-)
Good question that I don’t know if I can fully answer but I have a couple thoughts. Some of it has to do with style. Some of it has to do with the lack of electronics. Working with computers/phones/tech makes me look at “dumb” objects in a different light. It’s kind of like backpacking. It’s not efficient or practical but the simplicity is enjoyable. There’s also the aspect of having an item that lasts decades or generations. That being said I do agree that digital watches are more practical and overall better devices. Except Smart watches that die every day.

Interesting. My Sinn 104 was magnetised from my mobile phone case. A cheap de-magnetiser sorted it out. Strange none of my other watches have become magnetised and only the Sinn has antimagnetic on the back.
As the 556 it has only very low magnetic field protection. It shouldnt be written on the caseback imo. (Mine 556 has it written too and i was wondering) The 856/857 and other higher Tier Sinns have real magnetic field protection.
I’d recommend an Oris divers 65 if u wanted a “diver” but in a more compact size, as they come in 36mm, 40, and 42. I put diver in quotes as it only has 100m water resistance. Which honestly for me, as long as it’s got 100m and a screw down crown that’s good enough

Well you can't go wrong with a G-shock. Those things can take a beating like nothing else. They aren't fancy or mechanical wonders but if it's for outdoors the G-shock is perfect.
They’re great! I did 1,400 miles of backpacking with a Casio in 2017. It was just an f91w and I had no durability issues, so I know the Gshocks would be great.

A minute a month for that price? You must have gotten a Monday watch. Looks great though.
That's +2sec/day. What's wrong with that?
That’s actually very good for a mechanical watch.
That's actually super accurate. Dont forget it's a mechanical watch with dozens of extremely tiny moving parts that move 24/7. It's like having a miniature factory on your wrist. It's not like some cheap quartz watch with a battery and a chip. It's a mechanical watch that is powered by the movement of your wrist. So 2 seconds a day is very accurate.
😂 You don't know anything about mechanical watches and it shows
Mechanical watches are not feature-rich, accurate, tough, antimagnetic or maintenance-free...
If you want those things, get a G-shock.
Wow. Great advice.
Yes because I’m going to wear a G shock to a formal event 🤦🏽♂️.
If you can’t read the time right when you wake up, it’s on you..don’t blame the watch 😂
