This song takes you to a reflective state of mind in which you ponder on the pluses and minuses of life. Then you realize that the point wasn't to win or to lose- but in a nihilistic way, just to be.
pinback presents us a point to hold out for, or at least to leave the last one or two doors open, after the maw of space has closed all others beyond this last lilttle stand/hope heard of tomorrow 😅😢❤😂🎉
funny how that happens isn't it? if I listen to this, I'm vaulted back to a couple of days after it came out, I was living in a barn and there was a hurricane. the wind was blowing ridiculously hard and I thought the roof was going to fly off. I sat there in the dark chain smoking kools, which I hate, but they were free and I was flat fucking broke. and in the background was this song (whole album really, but this is the only song that takes me there) and I was thinking to myself "if I die, at least I'll die to the most beautiful song ever written. it was scary but a little bit nice. I digress....I bet you're wondering why I asked you here today....that's a joke the guy I lived with in the barn used to say all the time. hope this comment finds you all well...
11 minutes WTFFFF I kept hearing this song on loops and didn’t even realize until I saw a comment about here that’s how much pinback can make you lose track of time wow
I remember i started a video for this song using pictures for their lyrics, but then my computer crashed and i've been to lazy to re-do it... fucking awesome song.
Most bands perform songs faster live to conserve time and to squeeze in as many songs as possible. They're usually only allotted 1.5hrs to 2 hrs to perform in a live venue. It also keeps the energy levels up in the crowd.
This song changed my life when I first heard it when I was 16. I’m in my 30’s now and it never gets old.
CCC
hahah same dude
Saw them play this in Baton Rouge. Rob asked for requests. Everyone said this song. Robs face was like oh sh*t. Needless to say they killed it.
This is so well put together that you don’t even notice that it’s 11 minutes long until it’s over...
when you do things right..people wont be sure you've done anything at all
That’s very insightful and also very true
@@damiens4200 Good Futurama reference
This is nothing short of a masterpiece. So impressive for a band to keep a song going like this for 11 minutes
I'm a 62 year old pinback freak on a continual loop. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

Honestly though, so many pinback songs affect you in ways like this
Nihilism has no point, that's the whole point

+Brian Smith he used to say that to his 7 cats by the way. he was this weird, gay hippie guy I had known for years. he's dead now.
How the hell does this song not have 30 million views,
Probably my favorite Pinback song :)
Well shit. An 11 minute long song that is actually 11 minutes long, not 7 minutes of silence. Kudos.

Deep stuff man. Much love for the tune.
Makes me proud of my hometown
Zach Sonallah San Diego?
This song perfectly captures the walk from Gastown to West End via East Hastings at 1AM on an average drizzly Vancouver night.
Song goes from an 8 to a 10 at 4:13 and just stays there the rest of the song.
They are magical

It's interesting, too, that they play their songs really fast live so this one only takes like 8 or 9 minutes.
