Always use thermal paste. Especially for 1kW. A thin layer of an air (the best insulator) remains in an opposite case.

I don't mean to be rude but, Why? 1000 watt amps are a dime a dozen in the professional audio world and have a much higher duty cycle. Yeah it is a good old linear design from 3o years ago mostly. Maybe HiFi fans might like it but you can Pick up a Crown XTi 1000 with rail voltage tracking and a lot less headache.
Kudos to you for the design and yeah it will work a treat. you should be proud of the engineering achievement which came out of it. still, save yourself the headache. And, i say this because in our world, 1000 watts is a bit of a toy these days and a lot of companies are replacing them for bigger and much gruntier 10000 watt Lab Grupen or Powersoft amps.
