Something interesting worth noticing about Noble Team. They all went out in ironic ways. Jorge, the only Spartan-II on the team and the only one trained on Reach (Spartan-IIIs were trained on Onyx instead) loved Reach but was the only one not to die on it. Kat, the brains of the team, died from a headshot. Carter, team captain, went down with the ship. Emile, shown repeatedly to be obsessed with his blades, was killed by one. Six, the Lone Wolf, died alone. Jun, the sniper always apart from the others (even staying in the Falcon in the beginning of the game while the rest of Noble attends the briefing inside), is the sole survivor.

I never noticed that when the zealots first ambush Noble Team, you can see Carter pushing Kat down into a corner of the relay console and then using his own body to protect her while the others fire on the zealots. They were obviously in a relationship but after almost twelve years of playing this game I never noticed that detail.
Edit: I also just realised when Carter tells Jun to "make sure nothing falls into enemy hands" and Jun says "I'll do what's necessary". Jun was willing to kill Halsey if he had to so that the Covenant didn't get her. Damn.

Reach truly holds a special place in my heart, as my favorite Halo game of all time. The story, the cutscenes, the atmosphere, they were all drastically different from all the other Halo games. You play as one of the many Spartan III's, and are tasked with defending the planet where the Spartan program itself came to fruition, Reach. Spartan II's were regarded as the most powerful weapon in the UNSC, with the first class having only around 33 members be successfully augmented, Master Chief among them. Being a Spartan III was essentially signing your own death warrant, as the missions they underwent were often seen as suicidal in terms of the odds of their success. Noble Six, the character you play as, was a lone-wolf, and often the last person any enemy of the UNSC, or ONI would see before their death. To put his abilities into perspective, Noble Six is often referred to as a Headhunter, an individual part of a highly classified special operations program that would pair Spartans of extraordinary ability together in order to drop behind enemy lines, and neutralize entire bases, kill enemy leaders, and sometimes destroy entire armies. They were expected to complete their tasks, or die trying, no exceptions. Needless to say, Noble Six always returned from his operations, with, or without the partner he was deployed with. He was designated as a CAT-II Spartan III recruit, meaning that if the original Spartan II project was still running, he would have been accepted in a heartbeat, based off of his genetic capabilities alone, and his combat record would rival even the greatest of the Spartan IIs. To top it all off, he also was a test pilot for the Sabre project, which developed the Star fighter you get to pilot in a later mission. When Noble One (Carter) talks about all the black ink on Noble Six's files, he really was not kidding, and his work with securing Cortana, and the Pillar of Autumn was just the cherry on top. Noble team was lucky to have him, and we were luckier to have the opportunity to play as him, and see the ending to his truly amazing life.

This game always hits different. Out of all my friends who played with me back then, I was the first to play Reach. In the campaign, I was solo. God, I felt like such a badass in that first half.
Then The frigate gets shot down and we suddenly have to stop a covenant fleet. Felt like the last stand. And then.... Jorge..... That hit me hard.... I wasn't ready for what was to come.
New Alexandria was... You ever wanted to help with every inch of your being? Save just one of those npcs? Even though yu know you can't do a thing. Yeah. Sucks. And then Kat.... It just went down from there.
By the time the final mission began, I wasn't sad or anything. I felt nothing, emotionless. I was just.... There. And when "New Objective: Survive" showed up, all I could do was say "Guess it's finally my turn." And go to it.
Then me and my friends did co-op, I couldn't bring myself to spoil it for them. I just went through it. They wondered why unlike other games I wasn't hyped, they soon found out.
Halo Reach was a Hell of a good game. I'd play t again despite the sad moments.

They did a fantastic job of storytelling here. Even as someone who played the original trilogy and was aware how Reach ended from the beginning (Reach is referred to as having fallen at the start of Combat Evolved, and Chief was later referred to as the "Last Spartan" several times), they did a fantastic job of getting me invested in the story and characters, something the vast majority of stories that you know the end from the beginning fail to do. I'm not sure Reach is my top game of all time, but it's absolutely top 5.

    @JoeMama-rv9wl 7 месяцев назад +2

This is such a good scene. Such a good game. It really was ahead of its time by mountains. The way that they keep tension through the bickering of the spartans and the intense music the whole way, only to be suddenly stopped with the sound of a gunshot, followed by Kat's lifeless body dropping only to be caught by Your Character, and immediately followed by silence. Silence that is broken by a single piano note, and Noble Six's first reaction being to get a gun and shoot back. The way the rest of the team immediately and without a sound pull out their rifles, fall into formation and shoot back as well, even though they know its hopeless, its just all they've ever known. The civilians begging for their lives after they saw one of the so called unkillable super soldiers get gunned down right in front of them. Carter's body language in the end while holding his team mate's lifeless body, the destroyed city in the distance, the piano, all of it. Beautiful. There are games that depicted the horrors of war far better than reach ever could, but reach did in it's own more subtle way. Set back after setback, loss after loss, the feeling of being powerless in a war that you can't win on your own elicits a feeling of dread, because while still being a spartan, your no longer the one-man-army Master Chief.

Which is subtle order that if he can’t extract her safely he’s to kill her and himself so they aren’t taken prisoners and Halsey can’t reveal intel. Jorge was my favorite. A Spartan-II like Chief but the rest of Noble are Spartan-III's, basically ONI knockoff Spartans and many given inferior equipment and sent on essentially suicide missions. However, 2's and 3's were on Reach for RED FLAG an operation to capture a Covenant ship, find their homeworld High Charity then capture a Covenant Hierarch, and force a truce between them and humanity. And the Covenant commander in charge of the invasion of over 300 ships of varying classes was Thel Vadam'ee, the same commander that led the Covenant forces in Combat Evolved and later became the Arbiter.

You gotta imagine being someone like me: a teenager in 2010/11, and you play this game fresh off of Halo 3/ODST a year or 2 after (most of my friends got into it by 2011)...to see a game switch up the bumbling and "wort wort-heavy" Sangheilians and Brutes to literally TERRIFYING aliens with intimidating physique, sound, and weapons was such a game-changer; Elites were now LITERALLY THE ELITES we never realized we'd been envisioning for so long.
On top of that, the graphics were just so astounding to see for the console you were playing it on (360), and even now in the MCC on PC, it's still not bad looking!
To top it off, you have one of the most tragic, and compelling narrative-heavy stories in any videogame to date, excellently accompanied by one of the Halo series' best soundtracks of all time.
Simply put: a masterful game from a different era in game history.

But in reach you see the covenants raw scale, and power, And you also see that Spartans are not invincible. And it showed that sometimes when people give thier life (Jorge) it doesn't change the outcome like in the movies, The best illustration of the Spartans not being indestructible is cat one shot and boom she's gone, blink of an eye, mid sentence. @@GamerJoobChannel You're welcome. There is just, so much emotion in this video and the other videos that you did, which makes apparently just a single gameplay video so much fun. Really love your content.

I've always noticed how you can hear the pain in Emiles voice when Carter dies, I like that part it shows he really did care about them all in his own way

Hi, that was nice. I wanna point out that only Jorge is a spartan-II, hence why he's the only one showing affection towards halsey. I'm sure someone else must have pointed it out by now but im just throwing it out there just in case. Rest of noble, including noble 6, are spartan III handpicked and elevated, equipped with mjolnir armour.

It's also why he's so much larger than everyone else. The IIs were massive.

@@canadian__ninja Jorge was just a bug spartan even compared to the 2's 8 foot tall in armor the rest are just normal sized spartans 6'10

The reason why Halo Reach is my favorite Halo game is because your multiplayer Spartan is your campaign Spartan lol.

Great reaction video! I like how you were actually immersed into the story and environment rather go off about random stuff. Having a knowledgeable background in the Halo universe helped with your emotional investment into the events of reach! Good stuff, looking forward to more videos~

Reading Halsey’s journal from the pre-order legendary edition for Reach really made a big difference in my understanding of every interaction they had and all the nuances of her complex character. I will never stop loving the sheer tonal narrative that they created with Reach. If you’ve never gotten to watch the live-action they made about the invasion on Reach, I highly recommend it as well. It’s utter devastation with the “glassing” and ultimately genocidal. They captured that so well even in-game, slowly stepping you into the losing fight.
