I use to do this in Victoria BC in the 1970s , We just put on Many hooks on the line with wool then jig off a bridge we would fill bucket full of them no limits back then
Good Job😃 Hi, the following statement is not a Criticism, but instead, as a local person, I'd like to share the pronunciation of Yaquina, which is "Yah-Queenah" ! Good luck and welcome 🤩
I ocean fish out of Newport Southbeach and didn't know those commercial docks were open to the public. Certainly wouldn't think they would allow fishing from them. Good to know! Thanks.
@@Yakfish-Taco Sounds delicious! Thanks for sharing the video! I'm new to Oregon and want to get out and try some fishing, appreciate the tips and tricks you offer! :)
do you ever fish the South Jetty? we were there trying squid and herring. not shrimp. I have made a super cool 2nd pole for eel that was very fun to use.. I have a feeling I might bump into you down there sometime.
Hi, yah I fished the south jetty before, seems to be a bit over fished maybe? And during summer time it always facing the NW wind lol. So I like the north side better, quieter too. Yah would like to run into you guys sometime Newport or Tillamook 👍🏼😄
Always good in the that area of condos
Out bewtween the jaws on South side is always good during herring season

When you hook one let it sit jig it lightly and get 6 at a time
Awesome video… beautiful fish!
Love the herring fishery! It's a great way to get kids hooked on fishing. There's lots of action and not too much for a kid to pull in.
It's awesome for kids I agree
Wow you can hear the seals in the background, how fun!!! I love to see the community help each other!
Here supporting your Channel 👍 keep the good work!
Thank you!
Great trip, enjoyed it thanks.
Great fishing day over there looking good and really enjoy your videos
thank you for your support!
Thanks for the fishing lesson. I learned a lot from you! Good luck on your future travels.
When you hook a herring, leave it in the water and the herring flashing around will attract more herring to your hooks.

HEY MAN! My AK buddy and I were down there March 17-18. we didn't think to try Herring, but will now. I caught my first eel!
I live in Texas, and the bait fish common in the ocean is sardines and mullet but can never catch them. I use other fish like croaker as bait.
Great video, it's still a bit cold for rock fish, I went to WA jetty last week, only got greenling and perch as well

Just a heads up they are technically not. You will eventually get kicked off
Great video! How do you normally cook these?
I break the head off in a way that the guts will get pulled out at the same time, then battered in flour and pan fried to crispy

What do fisherman generally use those fish for more, eating or use it for bait?
Bait, salmon and big black label for halibut.
