y drive a e39 525tds for 15 years now , y bought a second 530d and it drive sooooooo much better, M51 is good strong engine but underpowered for e39 , and the BIG problem with M51 , no power under 2000rpm, all old indirect injection system on diesels are slow under 2000rpm but on e39 525tds it is huge
I haven't driven a 530d, but I can image. Totally agree with your impression of the 525tds. It was the car I learnt to how to drive with, and the one it woke up my passion for cars. It always felt too underpowered at low speed and revs doing city driving. It's natural terrain was always highways. It was extremely comfortable and literally flying when crusing on highways. Something that I never liked either was the suspension. The car was swinging too easily if you were driving a bit too happy. And the sound of that 6 cylinder was glory! My dad used to say it sounded like an aircraft engine, and I couldn't agree more! The E39 and the 525tds say a lot about what cars used to be like back then. It's was a transition to more modern times.
@@aracnid23 me too , E39 525tds was my first car , about the swinging... when you go to MOT and you have two front suspension and never changed, even after 15 years they go trough MOT , when left and right are equaly used (front or rear) and no visible leaks the machine says OK" but when you remove the coil , and pushing the axle from the suspension down it do not come back , after 15 yers or more they are dead... y changed my 4 suspensions today with Sachs , and is wonderful !
I hope that everyone will be able to buy their dream car in the nearest future. ☺️☺️👍👍🙏🙏

Cool video shoot bmw e36?)
How many L/100km on open road?
Ale bawara.
Cos nie za nisko te obroty masz? Zmieniasz lekko nad 1 tys bieg..
why so slow, engine trouble?
Ogólnie tds jest twardy tylko ludzie to idioci
Szkoda ze 2.5tds bardzo jebiący się na potęgę silnik
The reality is all the diesel e39's nowadays are all crap
