This video, created by Nucleus Medical Media, depicts a normal vaginal birth using a time-lapse effect. Strong uterine contractions push the fetus (baby) forcibly through the birth canal during labor. Concurrently, a picture-in-picture effect at the upper right shows the baby's head moving through the mother's pelvic outlet.

I'm never giving birth unless I have that violinist standing by my side.
I just watched my son's wife give birth yesterday. She pushed so hard for 3 hours (with epidural so no pain) and finally I got to see the head push through and then the rest of the baby. He was a perfectly formed little creature - looking at first like a blue-gray rubber doll and then in a minute got his pink color. It was truly the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. Oh, I adopted my son so never went through it myself.
Wouldn't it just be easier if we could lay eggs ?
seeing the video, we can realize how hard it is for our mothers to bear and give birth to us. a sacrifice that only women can do
I'm scared that I have to go through this in the future... :'(
i'm 38 weeks preg due anyday, thanks youtube for making me scared about it now lol
I can't really describe how that just affected me, but I think I finally just understood the insane miraculous nature of life. The idea of one life emerging from another life. I think I finally get it now. There's a brilliant designer behind all of this.
Never in my life have I ever wanted to have children! This just reassures me of my desicion!
oh my god women must be respected a lot
what wrong in that?
no prob, you can adobt, you make a homless child happy :D
Always wear protection
Does this mean we all broke our mother's tail bones when we came out?
AH! I broke my mother's back even though I never stepped on a crack. :(
I went and hugged my mom...And said Thank you
Why must I be female? Whyyyy?? :'(]
And there are still some people that have the nerve to call women weak. I'd like to see them deal with a period that's equipped with cramps as painful as a thousand stabs to the stomach. I'd like to see them in labour for 16 hours, pushing out a baby. Women are not weak, we are strong!
***** A typical response from a man, why am I not surprised? Not all women are capable of giving birth even though their body is designed to, so you're damn right I'm going to gloat about being able to bring new life into this world. If only men could experience the same pain women have to endure.
"Not surprised"
Because you enjoy generalizing an entire group based on sexist assumptions.
"have to"
Excluding cases of rape woman are not forced to get pregnant.
"incapable of becoming pregnant, thus I can boast"
You're going to boast because some poor woman may be infertile?
Let's not make this into a long, draw out, argument over the comments section, please.
*****
1. Yes, I said that because I wasn't surprised. It's not sexist that I expected such a comment, but nice try.
2. "Have to", I never said those words but okay. Right, and you're bringing that up because? No where in my comment did I say anything about women being forced to get pregnant. No, I simply said in my response that women are able to bring new life into this world.
3. No, idiot, I'm going to boast because giving birth is something women are capable of doing whether or not they chose to. Even if a woman is incapable of having children, it's the very fact that her body is designed to bring new life into this world that is amazing. I'm not sure if this is a sad attempt at trolling, or if you're just bored.
"Let's not make this into a long, draw out, argument over the comments section, please."
You say that as you continue to intiate said long, drawn out argument. I posted a comment, you replied to it, and then I replied to your reply. That's how a thread works on RUclips. :)
"Never said"
"same pain women have to endure."
"Have to endure"
"Idiot"
A little rude.
"Boast because woman are capable of doing something"
That a stupid reason to boast, that's like a guy boasting about being able to open a jar. Millions of people can do this thing, why boast because you're one of them?
"Bored"
Hit the nail on the head.
"Worked"
I don't normally argue online, I wouldn't know.
*****
"Never said"
"same pain women have to endure."
"Have to endure"
Yes, I said those things. Your point is?
"Idiot"
A little rude.
Meh, I could have used a much harsher insult.
Not, really, because not everyone is capable of opening a jar. What about amputees, or small children? Oh and can men have children? No, they can't, just like how women can't get erections. You're allowed to boast about things that you find remarkable. That doesn't make them stupid.
For the men saying that they can take pain more than a women, listen up.
When I was getting my first tattoo on my foot I was curious about the pain level, so I asked the man who was doing the tattoo will it hurt?
He then replied:
"Women give birth, their bodies are made to handle pain more then a man's, so no it won't hurt for you."
And he was right it didn't.
Women's bodies are scientifically proven to handle more pain than men.
Wow, this is a really beautiful illustration. It's so amazing how babies duck their heads under the pelvic bone and then turn sideways to slip their bodies through the outlet. Birth is SO AMAZING.
Some of the commenters seem confused, so I'd like to point out that the pink bag that the baby is squeezing out of is meant to represent the amniotic sac in the uterus, not the vagina.
Yup.
I gave birth to my last child I home. I laughed inbetween contractions and was laughing whilst the head crowned.
Sadly, most pregnant women get fed alot of horror stories when they're expecting so it ups anxiety for them. I was fortune to grow up with my mum telling us how she loved to give birth so I always had a good outlook on it, if that makes sense?
Anyway, I found out I'm expecting again and I'll be going for a homebirth again if all turns out well =)
This is why awesome drugs were invented. First words out of my mouth when I walk into the hospital to deliver are going to be "I want an epidural, NOW."
HOLY fuck that looks fucking painful as shit
its not gross or disturbing, its life. I wanna have a baby one day myself. Sure it'll be painful but won't it be worth the pain knowing that you brought something beautiful into the world?
I JUST TOLD MY BOYFRIEND IM NOT HAVING A KIDD HELL NOOO
we had to watch this in health class, and i'm still squirming around in pain :(
Now I understand why I always describe the pain as "back breaking" I had a natural childbirth , no epidural to numb it, which was torture but I can look back and be proud that I know what real childbirth feels like. The pain can only be described as how it would feel if you were laying flat on your stomach and someone heavy jumped right onto the small of your back feetfirst and broke it. In this video, you can see the tailbone being forcefully pushed back, now I know why it felt like that.
All I can say is... way to go 2 all the moms that suffered such pain .... This is the main reason why your children should forever be grateful....
Beautiful animation..... very accurate..... again confirming why I would prefer to adopt over giving birth :)
My facial expression through the whole video: :O
Reminds me of the time I put on a really tight sweater.....
ahhh!!! i never knew that the coccyx bone was moved during this process!! (for those who dont know its the curved bone near the bottom of the screen)
Thank you mom!
My face the whole time- :O
which is really amazing, because we ladies actually have more pain receptors per square inch of skin! I think overall we may be more sensitive (which makes sense from a nurturing role point of view, but more "tough."
Good question. Our guess is it's a universal subject that everyone can relate to.
This made me cross my legs and cringe. New found respect for my mother!
This makes me never want to be pregnant EVER
that looks painful
I think if I were to give birth naturally, I will be cursing all the way like... FUCKKKKKKKKK!!!
i'm in the exact same boat. i think it was very fortunate that my birth mother (in college at the time) was a strong enough person to go through with the birth.
do you have video of reverse child delivery?because,I want to see how I delivered my baby, reserved position
The most beautiful phenomenon in the whole world
It's amazing, and especially how everything fits perfectly.
Congratulations! I hope you have a very healthy baby!
I can't wait to experience this!!
nice animation
Thank you so much for this excellent video. I'm studying the physiology of birth and it was so hard to envision the movement though the pelvis on my own.
having a child is wonderful yes its very painful but so worth it in the end!
I went through this twice!
I've had this video on my watch later list for a couple of months. Totally worth it for the comment section.
It's a girl!! Man I'm gonna have a c- section
I need to stop clicking on random video's with my friends.....
Thank You!!!! Perfect animation of Engagement, descent, flexion, internal rotation, extension, external rotation!!
whats so scary? women survived that thousands of years.
I almost felt that :S
you dont know the feeling of childbirth, being hit in the breast, or periods.
These animations are really good. Wow.
I gave birth completely natural and honestly, it was painful but I didn't scream or cry. I think too often women forget that our bodies are meant to handle childbirth. However, my doctor said I have a really high pain tolerance.
What the hell! I cant believe my eyes! Im 13 and this video eill be tbe reason why i will adopt
now i understand why they scream >.
@Godiva008 Happy birthday!
I screamed throughout this whole video, condoms people....condams!!!!
Wow...I can't believe I did this four times and without any pain medicine...I cringe looking at what my body did! And as for that comment about having 9 months to prepare that is a whole lot of... bs. It was very painful and exhausting and yes u may have 9 month to think about it but when the moment comes to push...let's just say I felt like my eyeballs were gonna come out of my sockets!
Birth is NOT what I would call painful, and women are strong! I have four children who were born at home and each birth was more wonderful and beautiful than the last!
Wow that's so incredibly fascinating! Gosh, the thought of that happening in the future :/ must be a nice relief when it's out though...
i will never disrespect my mom again
Que hermoso es dar vida. Dios todo lo hizo perfecto.
omg, i love you mom o.o
This video was shown to me and mu collegues on our lesson of embryology:)
this is amazing
never having a baby. I need to find a surrogate
Imagine the mums that gave birth to twins, triplets or quadraplets watever it spelt or maybe sometimes 5, 6, 7 AND 8!!!!!!
all that twisting and turning
I Have a 7 week old baby born at 4.04kg 8llbs 14.5oz...watching this brings all the memories back, its like i can feel the pain of each stage i had a natural birth only gas and air.....my 3rd kid in 4 years has taken effect....mashed up back and limp in my walk (after falling down in 1st preg)
u go thru hell just to giv birth to the kid and that same kid grows up 2 scream insults at u.....now i know y mums cry....
It's true, guys! It's a scientific study done by a tattoo artist!
Watching this alone was painful. Forget having kid -_-
This is Beautiful
That's what we all said at young ages :) but we grow stronger with age and eventually get the courage to take this big step.
I love mom :D
Omg im not lookin foward to that in 7 months no I will not
i can remember this

C-sections are lookin so much better to me :-)
I don't want to have babies now...
It's a good video but this is my first child and that makes it seem easy and even I know it's not
I love this song.
That doesnt hurt the bby neck ?????
this tailbone though...
Welp, I'm never having kids. Lovely music though, I must admit.
Wouldn't the tailbone be affected according to the illustrations?
My favorite part was when the baby done a barrel roll.
Majestic as fuck.
Aaaannnddd I'm never having kids!
I was studying and watching a U2 video, and BAM CHILDBIRTH!
I have full body tats and it didn't hurt. Your point is invalid.
