    I'm waiting on my Christmas present of an Erhu to arrive from China. Your videos have really helped me understand what I'm about to get into.

    Great lesson. I have an Ehru I haven’t played yet. I have a new bow on order. I had my local music shop recondition with all new parts and strings.

    Hello. I am French and I just discovered this instrument: the Erhu. From the start, the sound it produced made me vibrate and moved me to tears. I'm a little over 60 years old and I'm sensitive to music and I wonder how I could have missed this instrument which, if it seems modest, has a tremendous effect on me!
    On the list of things I would do before I die, I added getting an Erhu and trying to play it. I discovered your training and I find it very interesting. I understand like that the different parts that make up an Erhu.
    I do not speak English but I can understand what your explanations are about. But would it be possible to have the written text of your words? I would translate it (with Google) as I do with this comment. Sorry if I'm a little long ... and thanks again.

      Hello, thanks for your comments. I did have the text on before, but because my English has a little accents, therefore, the youtube will pick up some wrong words that doesn't make sense.

      @@lingpeng3695 Bonjour,

    I notice you're not being very pedantic about avoiding touching the hair...
    Is that something you don't need to be as concerned with on an erhu bow?

    I just got an Erhu and I'm unable to make any sound from it even after rosining the bow. Do new bows need more rosin? I read somewhere that after applying the rosin, the bow should be left alone for a couple days. Is this true?

    • @lingpeng3695
      @lingpeng3695  8 лет назад +2

      +Ring Man I am not sure about leave alon for couple of days, but new bow do need apply thoroughly each time and more often than the old one.

    Which rosin should I buy for a new bow?

    I had a question for your bowing video, so if you're playing a fast piece, do you just keep moving your finger in and out every time you need to change strings really fast or is there a hack, in a way of speaking?

    • @lingpeng3695
      @lingpeng3695  5 лет назад +1

      Feliseraty Halfmoon you really need move your fingers.

    how often do you have to rosin the bow?

    • @lingpeng3695
      @lingpeng3695  10 лет назад +4

      It all depends how much you have played the instrument after you rosin the bow. After you rosin the bow, you will feel there is lots of friction on the bow, but after you have been playing for a while, there will be less friction and it will produce a faint whispery sound, then you know you need to rosin the bow. Maybe try once a week to start with.

    I got a new bow about a week ago, and i have been playing a lot since then. But about five minutes after using the rosin, the erhu begins making whispering sounds, so I have to put on more all the time. Do you know what might be the cause of this?

    • @lingpeng3695
      @lingpeng3695  10 лет назад +1

      It could be the quality of the hair or maybe you have not put enough. Generally, new bow takes longer to put the rosin on. take your time and try to use black rosin if you are not.
