It is correct. The landscape of the woodlands have changed, as for a duration there were many rhododendrons through out the woodlands and couple decades back the Woodland Trust and Local Authority had them ripped all out to thin out even some trees felled. This is few minutes walk and not far from where I am now.

Witches Grave used to be on the bend of the path from Norton. If you carry on up the path it goes to Windy Hill, take a right you end up at the tower. The den/grave was on the corner of the paths in a dip, it’s now been flattened and opened up.

I lived in Runcorn (Halton Village) from 1974-to 1990's(ish). During the late 1970's there was a lady who lived more or less opposite where dicky dones newsagent was , who
had the repuation of being a witch. I still have a vague memory of her (i was about 6-7) at the time. After she died the house remained empty for what seemed years..

I used to work in lennons supermarket in the shopping city. She used to come in to buy all the bones for her dogs. She was called smelly Mary...I was the only one who would serve her. Sad story

@@markcharles3969 you come along the woods path from phoenix park way , when you get to the top it goes like a letter Y / T ... simpley go to your left , up a tiny but then turn to your right and climb up and it just there ...
The big old hollow tree has gone, and the big tree on the slope also gone , there is also the old car graveyard in the quarry and the old sandstone pond in the woods , and the old tennis courts

@@markcharles3969 if you walk along the path in the woods that takes you uptowards the saint bertlines school , halfway up on the right hand side is a big drop, now got a fence around , but still accessable , this drop was part of a quarry , and in the late 70s there was all old cars in there , the type with running boards on the side, and large spoked wheels, and horns on that you press with a big rubber bulb, not sure what make but that style say late 20s early 30s cars , all partially dismantled and wrecked , we used to play in there all the time, known locally as the car graveyard ..
