There are a lot of options when it comes to EMR styli now, especially since a lot of notetaking e ink devices like the remarkable and boox devices use them. If your primary need is for the pen to be thicker (this is something that would interest me if I were actively creating art rn, as my dominant hand has...some issues), then there are plenty of other third-party options that you may want to consider first, but you would be forgoing s pen bluetooth features for those. Staedtler make brilliant pencil-like EMR styli of different thicknesses, for example.
I bought one of these pens, and it was registering input without touching similar to this video. I attached it to the back of my tab s9 ultra, restarted the tablet and it fixed the issue. I think it's a preset that is meant to accommodate the detachable note paper screen cover. I really enjoy it though! I swap between the regular spen and the creators edition
Mine was doing the same thing right out of the box... Not happy. And I gave the restart with it attached to the back didn't help. I'm not sure Brad actually broke his after seeing this.
Mine does it intermittently. Even after connecting to the back and after the tablet has been restarted. The issue remains. I have a feeling it's an actual defect with the pen.
I wore out my s pen nib and just stuck an extra plastic nib from my cintiq pen in it. Fits perfect and works just fine. So if you want that more plastic feel, that’s a cheap alternative.
I'm really disappointed with their choice of hard nib. One of the reasons I switched from my iPad to my S9 Ultra for art was to stop using those screen protectors. They massively downgrade the screen quality and they're like sandpaper for your nibs. They get scratched up after a couple months of constant use. They're just frustrating to use. I think I had to replace nibs and screen protector every 3 months. If this would have had a rubberized tip, I'd absolutely give it a shot but the hard nib is an absolute no for me.
I'm kind of the same. Most of my colleagues are like Brad, they want that screen protector feel on their tablets. I actually like the non-protector feel on both my iPad and Galaxy S7fe. That's why I wish there were more try-it displays at electronic stores, especially for those on limited budgets so they can try the feel of the equipment before buying and know if they need the feel of a protector or not.
I'm the same I had gotten replacement nibs specifically for my spen which was plastic and absolutely hated when it started to wear down/needing replacing and it'd scratch my screen protector (tempered glass). Now I am using the Steadler replacement nibs (rubber tips) and while it's weird to get used to after a year+ of plastic nibs I already feel safer using it then the plastic ones. I also used to like the idea of the paper/matte screen protectors but hate that it's at the cost of continuously replacing them and the nibs, honestly not worth it
I just installed a paperlike screen protector over a tempered glass screen protector on my tablet and it definitely gives it had a very satisfying scratch when I'm drawing. I'm also using a metal nib on my S-Pen
I was with you until you said $100 😅 switched to the Wacom One pen for $40 and it much better than the Spen. Feels great. But you will need a matte protection
I dont know if our problem is the same, but my sPen creator also drew on the tablet when i wasn't touching it to the screen when I first got it. I did some research and a few people said it was due to the presure sensory inside the pen being stuck in the "on" position in a way. Basically it thought you were pressing on the tablet, when in fact you weren't. They recomended switching out the pen tip, which didn't work for me and in the end, I just kinda hit the pen, with quite some force, on my mouse pad a couple times which, I believe, dislodged the presure sensory and fixing my pen. It now works perfectly. I dont recommend doing this on a hard surface as it may cause damage to the pen.
I tried everything before reading this method and I can confirm after a hit against my mouse mat, the the hovering problem is gone. Thank you for sharing this, @Peterb0063
Been curious about this since it was mentioned months ago - the different tip design is neat and I may just pick one up when possible along with a screen protector... As long as it's not THAT fragile. lol My existing S Pen does work fine, and if I can try this new one at a store first, I'll go that route.
if they do a bundle with this and their tablets id be all over it. one of the reasons i plan on going with samsung (besides my general disdain for apple) is that its cheaper and the stylus comes with the device. id really appreciate like an artists edition bundle thats a little more expensive (or the same price) but doesnt have the original tablet s pen so youre not paying for a stylus twice
still thinking about s9 fe or ipad 9 even though older, ipad 9 still have better benchmark and cost a lot less and there's a lot of cheap bootleeg alternative than pencil. if s9 fe lowers near ipad 9 definitely will choose it.
Nobody is going to see this post....oh well. I use my Tab S7+ with Infinite Painter all the time. Having tried all kinds of compatible pens, my favorites are the the Staedtler for is length, the Wacom One for tilt, and the stock pen because its attached. I also like the HP zBook x2 pen as t has both side button and eraser, however the Wacom One is far better with feel and tilt.
The slightly soft rubber tip on the original S pen on my tab S7 Plus is extremely nice on glass. No matte screen protector required. You can change the tip for a harder plastic one that's included but I have no idea why you would want to do that. Actually my only beef with the original is that there's only one button and no eraser on the back end. Wacom styli like for the Intuos usually have two buttons plus the eraser, way better. I was hoping that a "creator" stylus from Samsung would have a soft tip, two buttons and an eraser but no joy at all. Skip it.
I'm one of those weirdos that prefer the s-pen over Wacoms big bulky pen. It's just more like the regular pens I use when drawing non digitally and that's what I want.
I'm curious if you could use the nib of this creator edition pen on a standard s pen; I tried those titanium nibs on my s pen and it works like a charm. So I'm really interested in knowing if I could, if possible, just buy those s pen creator nibs for my normal spen...
My Creator Edition S Pen registers before actually touching the display too, and I never tried replacing the tip or was rough with it. Might be a general issue with that pen.
I don't have this pen but this isn't the way you're supposed to pull it out 4:00 you need to stick it in as hard as you can and then pull out the pen and then the nib is out
for the pen not fitting, you can always remove the hard plastic, to make more room, i usually use the samsung cover without the hard plastic and when i lay it flat, i usually put the pen on the side of the tablet rather in the back as to not put pressure.
Honestly, the only thing i expect from this pen is for the nib to not break off inside the pen like the regular Pen if i drop it, cause that's exactly what happened with the OG S Pen and the reason why i bought this one. And by the way, you may have just pushed the nib too far into the pen and that's why it's writing before connecting with the screen, that happened with me with the regular s pen. Just take it out a bit and it'll work normally again.
All emr pens have this one major flaw: the ferromagnetif solenoid rod in the pen used to detect pressure is very fragile and one drop on its tip is enough to render it broken.
You didn't break the stylus...my pen does the same thing. It still marks/draws/drags when the pen is not in contact with the screen. I am returning mine.
So, it's a normal S-Pen, a bit larger that it does not fit in cases, it has problems with removing the nib and it costs 100 dollars. Wow Samsung, nice marketing strats
One of the first major issues with the original s pen is those horrible pen nibs they basically break easy and what can happen is that they can get stuck in the pen

Have a question here, after using the s-pen for a few years, do the nibs get washed out similar to wacom or xp-pen pens? And if yes, does samsung sell nibs seperately?
I've had the regular tab s6 for about 3 years now and the nib that came with my spen got damaged cause I dropped it, so I bought some replacements from aliexpress and they have worked perfectly so far, I do change them every few months as they start to wear out. I haven't gotten any nibs directly from Samsung, but I'm pretty sure they sell replacement nibs. Either way I reccomend the ones on Aliexpress
@@simoneastman851 ah! Thanks for that... And how do you change the nibs btw? How do you pull the nibs out? With wacom or xp-pen, the pens have the mechanism inbuilt...not sure about s-pen.
You know what... There's already a solution and you should make a video on it: titanium nibs I use one on my Galaxy tab with matte screen protector and it's just peachy. Just spend $20 for the materials to upgrade instead of $100 for a pen that doesn't even fit in your case
speaking of pens, have you ever tried sonar pen? i have heard that apparently it works on both ios and android and plugs in via headphone jack (ur usb with adapter) id love to hear your opinion about this, because i havent found many in depth reviews about it
I only heard about this pen shortly before i saw this video - but i had *just* purchased a Wacom One Pen, which I'm using with my new Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ FE (and a matte screen protector). I think i'll stick with my Wacom pencil. Fun fact - the Wacom One Pencil does not work with my Intuos Pro . Not sure why i thought it would, but there you go.
Hi Brad. I'm considering replacing my iPad with this. Have you tried the NotePaper Screen Panel? If so, how does it compare to the one you installed onto yours? Thank you :)
it would be fun to see a comparison between this and the wacom one pen. Is the price difference of 60-70$ between the two really justifiable? Does the creator pen actually improve the pressure/tilt when compared to the wacom one pen? I have the wacom one pen which seems to have very much the same tilt and pressure abilities as the creator pen
Hi Brad. Received mine... and it is not working. Just hovering it 1cm above my Galaxy 9 Ultra or my Kindle Scribe triggers drawing. Needless to say, it's completely unusable. Changing the tip didn't change anything. Returning it.
this is what I've been waiting for. i want to get a samsung tablet, but i wanted a better spen. im very used to the spple pen and wanted something similar
As much as Wacom's styluses are awesome, honestly the only thing that kept me from using alternatives beyond the default S-pen with these tablets is the lack of cases that accommodates those pen(s). I do hope that this being an official Samsung product would encourage Samsung to make a future official case for one lol. Also with this having harder nibs, I wonder how good the pen would feel on those NotePaper screen covers Samsung has for the S9 line. PS. Rip in pieces to your pen still
With my S9 Ultra, I use a third-party case from "ZtotopCases". As well as a slot on the back for the S-pen, it has an elastic loop above the screen. So if you have a second stylus which doesn't need charging (such as the Staedtler Noris Digital), you can slide it in there. Obviously that's not so good for a stylus which does need charging, but I find I almost never use those Bluetooth functions anyway.
Do you suggest any more economic alternative to the Apple Pencil? I’d like to buy one, but the original looks so expensive. Ps thanks for all your precious videos ❤
Mine became unglued and fell out. The same happened with the Jumbo (both the nib and the eraser at the back). It's because they glue them in with nothing else to hold them in.
Hey Brad and everyone!! I have a lil thing to ask, here on Brazil the price of this Pen and the Wacom one pen is very similar, which one worths more in that case?
Hi Brad - thanks for this - you saved me a ba-gillion bucks in conversions to South African Rand :D So it's a no for this. I have gone full paperless and use my Tab9S for notetaking; and it has changed my life. However, 2 questions I have: 1) You speak about screen protectors that make the SPen "Feel" like paper. The Ipad has the Paperlike one but does not fit properly. Can you recommend a brand you use? My research found nothing of value, only that the SPen does not need that as it's not as "hard" on the screen as the Apple pencil. 2) do you know of some other case, or riser that slightly lifts in landscape mode - I primarily work like this for taking notes and fiddling around in learning to draw ( ps - great courses) Keep up the good work - you have help me go from stick men to colourful stickmen :D
A lot of comments about replacing the tip of S pen with Wacom tips. 1) Could anyone share which wacom tips are supported by S pen? 2) If anyone using wacom one pen on Tab S 9 ultra, will it scratch the tablet screen for heavy use without screen protector? Thanks.
Why not just get a Wacom One stylus? It's a lot cheaper, works on all s pen Samsung devices (except folds lol) has that size advantage and still has tilt and everything. Only thing is the magnet
I was wondering this too, I did buy the premium pen 2 the one that has an eraser and it worked great eraser and all, I tried it on photoshop and Krita but I returned it because the tip felt to cardboardy I like the feel of the Apple Pencil so I guess we should give this one a try
I bought this pen and returned it in less than a day. It's absolutely PATHETIC. The precision sucks, the body is just cheap plastic and you can see the seam on the pen. My alternative is the Noris Digital Jumbo which feels faaaar superior and has similar functionality. To anyone looking to buy this, I'd say save your money and get any other EMR stylus. I actually ordered a Wacom Dr. Grip and a Wacom One stylus from the money I got back and have more left over. Just save your money guys.
Honestly, most pens are already good enough, I will only care once I can change pens on the go, I like wide pens like the apple pencil for sketching, but they suck for lineart
I much prefer a thinner nib... I was actually thinking of moving away from apple because wacom emr pens have a thinner tip. Weird choice of samsung to do this
It's too expensive. For me the two best EMR Spen are the Samsung original one (from S7 to S9) with a silicone case wich ad some thickness and grip, and the Wacom One.
I just got a galaxy tab s9 fe+ but although it is a great pen i just really can't operate with the s pen because of the general feel of it. I'm very used to apple pen. So i've been loking to by an alternative which resembles apple pen more, (i don't mean by thickness i mean by the hardness of the pen) but i couldn't find one, i guess the closest would be wacom pen but in my country the prices are very similar between that and this samsung creator edition pen if i purchase from amazon. So i would love it if you guys can share your experiences with this pen or any other stylus that would give me an apple pencil sort of a feeling.
Now I bought another one, from a different shop - and this one was also already broken. Careful guys - there may be a bad batch of broken spens on the market!
I saw this on the Samsung website and I thought omg I need this because I really miss the Apple pencil but I'm a die-hard Samsung girly. So can't switch back. Luckily I got a 50% discount so I only paid 50€ for the pen. Tomorrow it should arrive. Hope it won't disappoint me😅
It doesn't fit with any of the Samsung cases for the Tab s9?!?! are you kidding me?!?! Why?!?! I was all set to buy this but I have the samsung keyboard case for my tab s9 and it doesn't fit?!?! Yes I know I can remove the insert that covers the spen, but I keep it there so I don't risk losing the spen. I wonder if they will release an updated insert that will fit the creator edition spen? I am sure they will give it away for free right? IF they do release one it should be included in the purchase of the creator edition spen...

I use one on my Galaxy tab with matte screen protector and it's just peachy. Just spend $20 for the materials to upgrade instead of $100 for a pen that doesn't even fit in your case
Do you have a link for the titanium nibs?
Btw cant you close the tablet first and then place the pen on it?
speaking of pens, have you ever tried sonar pen? i have heard that apparently it works on both ios and android and plugs in via headphone jack (ur usb with adapter) id love to hear your opinion about this, because i havent found many in depth reviews about it
I'm thinking about getting one for drawing on the go with my Z Fold 4. But I do have one question: How is the pressure sensitivity?
IT WON'T WORK ON Z FOLDS 3-5!!! DON'T BUY IT!!!
Do you think the plastic tip will scratch the screen, if I don't put a paperlike protection?
does the creator nib fit on the regular S pen ?
Would it work on a tab S7 fe?
I already have the S-Pen Pro. I would like the tip of the new S-Pen (Creator Edition) more.
Does this S Pen work on the Z Fold series?
I know the wacom one has terrible interaction with the tip of the nib where the strokes get super thin for no reason.
Hi Brad. Received mine... and it is not working. Just hovering it 1cm above my Galaxy 9 Ultra or my Kindle Scribe triggers drawing. Needless to say, it's completely unusable. Changing the tip didn't change anything. Returning it.
Would you pick it over the Wacom One pen?
Cant Wait to see the deeper review for procreate dreams Mr brad
I love the spen and the galaxy book 360
this is what I've been waiting for. i want to get a samsung tablet, but i wanted a better spen. im very used to the spple pen and wanted something similar
Standard S Pen that I use is okay. A little small but mostly the button it has feels pretty useless
I am waiting for my s23 ultra to be delivered which includes a pen. Can that pen be used with a Samsung tablet? Just since I’ll always have it on me
what app are you using at 1:40?
Clip studio paint
S pen creator edition / Wacom One pen?
I think you can take the tanslucent part off. At least that's what I remember from the Samsung event
Do you suggest any more economic alternative to the Apple Pencil? I’d like to buy one, but the original looks so expensive. Ps thanks for all your precious videos ❤
This happened with my steadler noris dgital jumbo it kept on registering input before touching the screen
Mine became unglued and fell out. The same happened with the Jumbo (both the nib and the eraser at the back). It's because they glue them in with nothing else to hold them in.
Unglued ?, how from where, I've been thinking of opening up the jumbo to see if I can fix it
What about procreate dreams does someone have any updates
Does the pen work with a Galaxy Tab A7?
Does Samsung not have a way to calibrate the pen? Maybe it needed calibrated after changing the nib?
Looks like a broken pen to me.
I would love to see a Samsung creator pen vs Apple pencil video. thanks for your content
Hey Brad and everyone!! I have a lil thing to ask, here on Brazil the price of this Pen and the Wacom one pen is very similar, which one worths more in that case?
How does it compare to other EMR pens btw? Like the Wacom One Pen?
Hi Brad - thanks for this - you saved me a ba-gillion bucks in conversions to South African Rand :D So it's a no for this.
I have gone full paperless and use my Tab9S for notetaking; and it has changed my life. However, 2 questions I have:
1) You speak about screen protectors that make the SPen "Feel" like paper. The Ipad has the Paperlike one but does not fit properly. Can you recommend a brand you use? My research found nothing of value, only that the SPen does not need that as it's not as "hard" on the screen as the Apple pencil.
2) do you know of some other case, or riser that slightly lifts in landscape mode - I primarily work like this for taking notes and fiddling around in learning to draw ( ps - great courses)
Keep up the good work - you have help me go from stick men to colourful stickmen :D
Which screen protector are you using for your Tab S9+? I tried looking for it but I can't find it.
What is the name of the drawing app that you are using?
What Brand makes the screen protector you are using in this video?
A lot of comments about replacing the tip of S pen with Wacom tips. 1) Could anyone share which wacom tips are supported by S pen?
2) If anyone using wacom one pen on Tab S 9 ultra, will it scratch the tablet screen for heavy use without screen protector? Thanks.
The button still hard looks hard to feel where it is without looking
Which app did you use to test the pen? I can't recognize it
Clip studio paint Simple UI
Why not just get a Wacom One stylus? It's a lot cheaper, works on all s pen Samsung devices (except folds lol) has that size advantage and still has tilt and everything. Only thing is the magnet
Pode colocar apenas a ponta da caneta na caneta tradicional?
Hi, is this compatible with S6 lite?
Yes
Love the Spen
Can I use the Creator S Pen on Galaxy Book3 Pro 360?
I was wondering this too, I did buy the premium pen 2 the one that has an eraser and it worked great eraser and all, I tried it on photoshop and Krita but I returned it because the tip felt to cardboardy I like the feel of the Apple Pencil so I guess we should give this one a try
Anyone knows if its compatible with thr galaxy tab 7 fe😢
I think yes , I use on s6 lite and work great !
You broke the pen..this whole video is pure comedy
What app are you using in the video?
Clip studio paint in simple mode
What drawing software do you use on the tab s9?
he's using clip studio paint but beware it is not a one time payment but monthly subscription
No charging needed, thats so practical
Does it work with Tab S7 FE?
I think yes , I use on a s6 lite and work great!
what drawing app do you use?
Look like infinite painter
@@MarioDenisArt thank you
Actually, it's clip studio paint in simple mode
You probably did NOT broke your pen! Mine was broken straight out of the box. Same issue, it's writing even 1cm hovering above the screen.
Now I bought another one, from a different shop - and this one was also already broken. Careful guys - there may be a bad batch of broken spens on the market!
being someone who dislikes the wide tip of the apple pencil and its weight, I think I'm gonna stick with the normal s pen
I saw this on the Samsung website and I thought omg I need this because I really miss the Apple pencil but I'm a die-hard Samsung girly. So can't switch back. Luckily I got a 50% discount so I only paid 50€ for the pen. Tomorrow it should arrive. Hope it won't disappoint me😅
Did you like it?
It doesn't fit with any of the Samsung cases for the Tab s9?!?! are you kidding me?!?! Why?!?! I was all set to buy this but I have the samsung keyboard case for my tab s9 and it doesn't fit?!?!
Yes I know I can remove the insert that covers the spen, but I keep it there so I don't risk losing the spen. I wonder if they will release an updated insert that will fit the creator edition spen? I am sure they will give it away for free right? IF they do release one it should be included in the purchase of the creator edition spen...
i like your helvetica shirt
If anyone founds a g99d replacement tip for this thing id love to know what you bought
