I just imagine the Pope robe working like Peach's dress in Mario games, and Aria is always whimsically floating downwards
Pöpё
A while ago you made a spell called something like "Terrible Idea". Your new Pope Robes, combined with blinding speed makes this spell "Best Idea EVER". You can probably travel half way across Vardenfell in 5 leaps!
Also the "Scroll of Windform" has a 500 levitate enchantment. I think that means it quintuples your speed while flying.
It's a single cast per scroll, but that's the fun!
There's also those scrolls of icarium flight that now work perfectly well.
It's great in theory, but unfortunatelly, Slow Fall interferes with Jump, specifically, after you stop ascending, even single point of Slow Fall makes you drop almost instantly.
Just make long magical jump without SF and back with it, and see where you land.
@ Never noticed that on my game. Nice smooth parabolic jumps. I used same mods as Jon, maybe it fixes something?
I love how Jon takes the moral high ground as long as the victim does not have a fancy hat
No war crime is too great in pursuit of a fancy hat.
One way to easily tell that Tiram Gadar is a spy is because his disposition isn't at 100 unlike all other members. That's because he's not actually a Mages guild member.
That is BRILLIANT!
I did not catch that! 😮
"Telvanni Spy" they say to the Telvanni Mage in the Mage guild. 😆
"And worst of all, he could be any one of us! He could be in this very room! He could be you. He could be me! He could even be-" *cliff racer sfx
19:02 Of course if you're trying to figure out if someone's a necromancer, Jon knows you look for skeletons in their closet!
I appreciate that Jon's perception is so low that after spending 5 minutes talking about how he, as a member of house Telvani, could bring down the mages guild earlier in the episode, he responds with guileless mild surprise to hear that there may be a spy from house Telvani in the mage's guild and has absolutely no other comment on it.
can you imagine if the pope strode into your house and started looking through your drawers
I love in Morrowind the more fabulous your clothing is the more powerful it can be enchanted. The most billingiest ridiculous outfit is the most magical
I've love that Jon actually indulges in the subtleties of the writing in Morrowind.
It's refreshing to watch someone approach RPGs as a character in the world instead of just a loot-goblin (though Jon does a fair bit of that too).
Kind of surprised "The Official Pope Robe" wasn't Water Walking, because... Well you know.
Slowfall is a good choice too, though.
To be fair, the guy with the walking on water trick was a friend of the 1rst pope
I love that you decided not to go after Anirne, assuming they were just running an animal sanctuary or whatever, given the fact that she is legitimately a hostile necromancer. 😂
Yeah, her thing is literally murdering people to use in necromantic experiments from what I've been able to tell. It's necromancers like her that got necromancy banned at the Mage's Guild just before the Oblivion Crisis!
Jon, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but your old pal Jiub--the first person you meet in the game--will be canonized for ridding Morrowind of those #@&+* cliff racers. You meet St. Jiub in the Soul Cairn in the Dawnguard expansion of Skyrim.
With the new Pope robes it might be time for Icarian flight
A gentle hint for learning more about magic: Sadrith Mora is the capital of House Telvanni. Not just the regional capital for the house like Balmora is to Hlaalu, it is their entire capital.
It should be noted that that's only in-game. Port Telvannis is the Telvanni capitol, but only features into Tamriel Rebuilt.
3:58 That was shockingly smart of you, well done! 👍
Ranis actually is following the law by having you kill necromancers. Necromancy is legal in the Empire, but as part of joining the Empire Morrowind got to keep its own separate laws and customs. This means Necromancy can be illegal in Morrowind while being legal elsewhere, and this is also how slavery is legal in Morrowind despite being illegal in the rest of the Empire.
Highly recommend considering also a Levitate on Other spell. Not a cheesy one where it's 1 point of levitate and it serves to slow enemies to a crawl, but an honest one that levitates followers out of holes they fall in. Greatly improved my morrowind follower experience. "Fly, you fool!"
I've been itching to try a Command Humanoid spell and Levitate on Other spell as a non-hostile murder method. Get a follower, get them to follow me upwards, not my fault when the spell wears off at a great height.
Anirne's Kitten Sanctuary definitely got a chuckle out of me 😂
If you open up an enchanter's barter inventory before doing enchanting, then any money you spend with them will become available to barter for. This is a great way to sell off all of those really expensive pieces of glass and ebony equipment you keep finding.
Chaotic evil Jon will kill a random person for their fancy hat, but all of the sudden he's Mr. Cleanhands?
Appearances, Sir!
Would you have your new Pope sully his churches "good" name?
Honestly, aside from the Hat and Skooma stuff, Aria Gro-Shurbak is probably one of Jon's most morally good Elder Scrolls Characters... which honestly isn't a high bar to clear compared to "infinite unlife Benor" from Skyrim and "the Dark Brotherhood is my favorite faction" from Oblivion 😅
Pretty sure Jimmy Cleanhands was one of the evilest characters Jon ever made...
Magicka doesn’t come from Oblivion. Magicka comes from Aetherius. It flows in through the sun, which is the hole in the plane that Magnus made when He left Nirn.
Not for nothing, but I think you were told to go to Ebonheart the moment you joined the Imperial Cult. They tell you to go there to find work you can do for the cult.
Imagine the patriarch of the tribunal temple walking into the Imperial Chapel at Ebonheart and asking their shrine sergeant if he can help hunt down stolen silverware just so that he can pray to the wrong gods for a discount 😂
John, Skink in tree shade is the mages guild quest giver in Sadrith Mora.
Oh, the irony of invoking being part of the Mage's Guild to argue _for_ the legality of necromancy.
Jon, now that you're dipping your green, papal toes into Enchanting, one of my favorite QoL enchantments is: Exquisite Belt, Restore Fatigue 4-4 points Constant Effect, Night Eye, 1-20 points Constant Effect. Why 1-20? By making it variable, you can squeeze more enchanting juice into it. When you equip it, the Night Eye will magnitude will be randomly determined, so you might have to put it on and take it off a few times to get 'Night Eye 19 pts' but its worth it.
I call this the Gatorade Belt, but since youre in the UK, perhaps the Lucozade Belt would be more appropriate?
Also: exquisite jewelry has high enchanting capacity, and the Telvanni Cephalopod Helm has a whopping 100 points of enchant capacity-because of course they do.
Ranis takes the 'Mage's Guild as a magical regulator' idea and turns the volume up to "mafia" as you've discovered. Enjoy the belt-cheers!
Gatorade and Lucozade are two completely different kinds drinks. Lucozade is carbonated.
I think its a reference to the color of the night eye spell.
Wonder why Jon's got all uncomfortable with murder of people who probably don't deserve it all of a sudden?
@22:40 - And, yes, the Wizard's Staff does indeed have a knob on the end. :P
Also 'Get me X persons notes' or "Get Y persons ring' doesn't mean they have to die...
It's equally amazing he's forgotten how stealing is a thing; despite doing it on the regular.
How very Ogg'y of you.
Day 9 of asking Jon to please help Cassius Olcinius regain his visibility.
You'd think the new pope would have the time to help a poor man regain his visibility. Maybe it would help her settle on her new position to do a "miracle" or two here and there. Just an idea. I can hear Cassius now "What have the temple ever done for us!?"
Justice (and visibility) for Cassius!
Justice (and visibility) for Cassius!
It's your duty to show compassion as the 'new pope' and bestow visibility to Cassius.
Justice for Invisible Pants!
Spell absorption isn't additive. Each effect is counted individual. If you have two 50% spell absorption effects it means you have a 50% chance to absorb the spell and if you fail you have another 50% chance.
50% plus 50% of 50%, so 75% chance total
With near 100 magic resist, it would be optimal to balance reflect with absorption to maximize the chance of something beneficial happening if he gets hit since those probabilities are additive to one another as separate effects.
That's stupid....
The funny thing about Jon trying to use an artifact in place of the designated faction quest item is that that actually works for the Legion, where the chest armor from their final quests counts as a uniform. The mages are just nitpicky about making sure you use a staff that's up to code (and that they get kickbacks for when they sell it to you.)
Also, looking forward to next ep when Jon gets to experience the imperial cult and their weird unique questgiving mechanics.
It's a strange questline as half the quest are simply go get common items and money. If you happen to already have the items on hand then you'll be able to jump all the way up to oracle and then you only need to do a couple more quest for Kaye or Lalatia before you can be promoted to Primate.
Magic dosent come from Oblivion Jon
It comes from the Sun and the stars! Said Sun and stars are also literal holes in the sky into the realm of the gods when a bunch of them decided to just leave because creating the world was too draining
Enchantment!
Tbf to Ranis Anirne does actually just try to murder you if you go to her hideout.
Skink and I think edwina also send you after her.
You’re the seventh mages guild member that Ranis has sent after her that week. Excuse her for being in guard
@@bncghdlur76iyeah, anyone will give you the wizard’s staff kill quest. It dovetailed nicely with John’s paranoia around Ranis. There’s also an acceptable “Wizard’s staff” up for grabs in the daedric ruin just outside of Aldruhn.
@@edluthe1591 gotta make sure the guild enchanters are getting paid
This series is excellent
Brilliant robe effect!
Praise be to Pope Aria!
JON! WITH YOUR POPE ROBE YOU CAN USE THE ICARIAN FLIGHT SCROLLS WITHOUT DYING!
You're a Wizard, Ari' !! Jon, Jon, Jon - when you read aloud the text & dialogue, you really ought to _listen_ ! You were NOT forcing Tashpi Ashibael to abandon "her town"; Maar Gan is just where she hung out a shingle. In addition to her name, she _tells_ you she is Velothi (aka "Ashlander"), and as such an itinerant person. Further, if & as you find Velothi towers, you'll discover they have some association with your own House Telvanni... [Also, (ironically) Anirne actually IS a daedra-worshipping necromancer - and Ajira probably(?) doesn't like Vindamea Drethan because she, too, hangs out with daedra...] Cheers
I love this series so much!
Don't forget all the Mages Guilds are linked together, so can you easily check out other destruction trainers with a simple teleport!
At destruction level 69, there are no Mages guild-affiliated trainers that can train him. The most accessible trainer that can increase his destruction is probably the illusion master trainer in Dirty Muriel’s in Sadrith Mora who can take him into the 80s. The master trainer is not likely someone he would come across without looking her up in the wiki.
I play too much morrowind. It’s so fun watching someone learning it for the first time.
@@edluthe1591 Yeah, random woman in the middle of a field just happens to be the most skilled fireball caster in all the realms.
I love it. It forces you to go out and explore to find the Master Trainers. Inside the institutions you have the mediocre rule-followers, but out in the wilderness, the geniuses. As William Blake said, "Improvement makes strait roads, but the crooked roads without Improvement, are roads of Genius." :)
Sleepers will attack you when their disposition gets too low. Keeping talking to them will lower it... so don't talk to them. There is a way to free them...
Oh okay, back when he was playing Blasphemous it was "Attack the Pope! Attack the Pope!" But now all of a sudden he's the pope and he's saying "Don't attack the Pope!" I see how it is
It's important to distinguish the difference between Necromancy and Conjuring undead.
Basically, Skyrim ruined a lot of the magic distinctions.
The Skeletons and Zombies you summon are simulacrum of denizens of an Oblivion plane, no different to conjuring a Daedra like an Atronach.
Necromancy on the other hand is manipulation of a real body and/or the persons soul, and to do so without the consent of the person is akin to defiling a body.
Note that this is also different to using a Soul Gem, as the soul is used as a source of power rather than direct manipulation. Though even then, in Oblivion, Black Soul Gems were contentiously received at best.
Skyrim actually explains all this pretty well if you talk to the Conjuring teacher at the college.
I don't think that's fair.
Skyrim has both reanimate type spells and summoning the dead spells, and it's specifically stated ingame that being able to summon the dead is a magical contract made with the 'ideal masters', so saying it ruined the disctinction regarding different types of summoning is not true.
Also Morrowind has no reanimation spells period, so the distinction is far less clear in Morrowind than in Skyrim, but neither has any real 'negative reactions' to doing either, despite it being regarded as taboo amongst polite society.
@@themurmeli88 I didnt mean Skyrim ruined Summoning spells, I was talking schools of magic in general.
@ I agree that removal of spellmaking and the school of mysticism was bad, but I don't agree with that statement in completely.
Skyrim introduced the unique abilities that you gain when you advance in each school, instead just decreasing the cost of spells under that school, like Alteration gives you passive magick resistance and spell absorbption, or Restoration gives you ability to recharge your magicka faster, and heal stamine along with your health etc.
Skyrim also re-introduced Enchanting as a skill after Oblivion axed it. Tbf, it's not as robust as in Morrowind (the enchanting options I mean), but it was a welcome return, and it too received the perk ability system to gain more unique talents.
Now this is by no means an argument in favor of Skyrim, but the Ordinator mod does enhance the perk system to be less generic bonuses and more unique traits and abilities, so I'd recommend picking it up when playing it.
@@themurmeli88ordinator makes illusion a busted school of magic for assassins. Magically remove the victims will to fight then create a spectral assassin to stab them in the back. Super silly, super fun. I always have to install ordinater for a Skyrim run
Ranis: Life or death of this mage is not your priority on this mission...
Jon: You want me to MURDER the guy?
Ajira: There's a ring in possession of someone in a cave...
Jon: YOU want me to murder this person ??!
Jon, are you sure YOU are sane? you KNOW there's multiple ways to resolve things without violence.. has the skooma gotten to your head?
Anyone else think aria ends up looking like elder scrolls shredder from tmnt by the middle of this episode?
Combining that slowfall robe with a spell that massively increases jump for 1-2 seconds is a rite of passage in morrowind. Instead of taking boats and finding siltstriders you now get around by just jumping across the entire map. Also enchanting something with constant stamina regen breaks the entire stamina system.
I will point out that the single other person that Ajira mentioned that she didn't like, was Ranis. So yeah, maybe the person holding the Warlock's Ring is also kind of horrible. Ranis is kind of a thug and I actively work against her in most of her duties, but I will admit that the reward for completing the Telvanni Spy quest in her favor is so much better.
Golden Saints are the best Souls for Enchanting in the whole game. So much so that it is a popular endgame strategy to learn Summon Golden Saint, summon the Golden Saint and then kill and soultrap that summoned Golden Saint (yes you can soultrap your own Summonings). This way you can put Constant Effects on anything you want.
A less tedious and no conjuration training requiring way is to just buy Summon Scrolls from Caldera Mages guild.
Almalexia is almost four times better. Vivec is two and a half times.
Jon, you should continue working with the Telvanni. Eventually, they’ll give you a house!
It's the fast horse all over again
Aria gaining power and immediatly spouting tyrannical plans is kinda apt for the current time! That said I can't wait for the conversation with you know who.... and the first expansion come to think of it!
Damn you Jon! I wanted to go to sleep!
+1 this series is hurting my work performance, a lot.
Can you post it in the mornings please? And hugs to the fur babies.
*looks at title* well that sounds… ominous 😳
It's amazing how surprised Jon is that a guild would want people practicing the trage guild is about to be under their control.
"This person is abusing their position to benefit themselves. We should remove her and install someone who would benefit me personally instead."
No matter how much he pretends to be ethical, there's no question Jon fits in perfectly with both the Mages' Guild and House Telvani.
Also, you should remove the mod that stops the DLCs triggering. They start annoying early by default, but you're now getting quite late so they're not going to be any challenge at all. Solstheim in particular is designed to be played along with the main game, with several parts expecting you to leave the island and do other stuff for a few days before going - it's not a standalone thing you can do in one go afterwards.
I really like that this questline both provides a way to get around Renis' nonsense, and get your own back at her for her abuse of power, and its not too out of the way to do so. That was a really satisfying conclusion to the questline.
You get sweet FA as a reward for doing it this way though. Ironically this is the one quest where Ranis is absolutely in the right, because there *is* a spy and the guildmaster is too dumb to believe it. You also do get a very nice reward (an enchanted Daedric Dagger) if you correctly report Tiram to Ranis.
That was probably intentional though. She spends the whole quest chain crying wolf so the player distrusts her and thus they falsely accuse her. But in doing that, they get nothing. Is there a moral there? Maybe!
@@VizorgzI think it's the same moral that most of Morrowind's quest design exemplifies and that is "people suck, and sometimes will screw you over, and sometimes won't. Good luck figuring out who does what 😁"
Like I think it tries to teach you that with "Fargoth's Hiding Place". The Nord kinda fucks you over and takes 2/3s of the gold. You can fuck him over first by never speaking to him again.
@@Vizorgz The moral of the story - you're always just one BS task away from the real payday, just gotta keep going ;P
@Vizorgz Eh, getting back at Ranis is reward enough for me, even though she's possibly right. Missing out on the rewards is sad though, but tbh Ranis is basically a Telvani spy in all but name. Her actions are far closer to house Telvani then they are the mages guild, she's trys to assinate anyone she doesn't like just because, she tries to assinate other mages to get their research/equipment, and she wants to use magic not for others betterment but for her own desires and under rules she herself doesn't follow. For someone who hates them so much she'd fit right in with the club.
Glad the buff spells work on NPCs correctly here. I tried to "Fortify Health" or something like that to a random Hunter in Skyrim and he started attacking me!
You know, it's really fascinating to compare the endless repetition of Daggerfall and Starfield to the "small" map of Morrowind, which even now you are still exploring quite a bit. Especially since this was the first Bethesda game designed this way, in response to complaints about Daggerfall.
QoL info: When enchanting clothes, common has barely any enchant capacity, expensive is next up in tier, then extravagant, and finally exquisite provides the best amount of enchant capacity. Armour generally works in tiers, but there are exceptions like the Telvani Helms having a large enchant capacity compared to higher tier helments.
Jon, please try to show a little compassion to the sleepers. If you can avoid killing them now, you'll have a chance to redeem them later and they will truly "wake" from the dream Dagoth Ur has used to ensnare them. Most Morrowind factions dislike House Telvanni because they are conniving, unethical weasels who would sell their own mothers for parts if it meant an iota more power.
I hate to say it, but as lovely as your new Pope robe is it will make it much slower for you to level your Acrobatics skill. The fastest way to earn experience towards Acrobatics is to take (survivable doses of) fall damage.
Jon! You may have just found a new place to store all your stuff! 😅
Remember those insane jump scrolls you found in the first or second episode. now that you dont take fall damage.......
now imagine if ranis athris IS the telvanni spy and saboteur and you ratted her out by mistake
Jon, I have a perfect solution for your storage issues. Come over and see me at my mansion…
You maybe shouldn't get your opinion of necromancy from the orc in the Balmora mages guild. Remember- she had you loot a skull from a tomb. She might be a bit biased... you should ask her a bit more about necromancy.
Please John. Forsake these mages guild fools. Return to your work for Great House Telvanni and you will not regret it! At least they are honest about their position unlike these two faced guild liars.
ur a wizard aria!
Hey Jon; since you can't complete every faction in one run, are you just going to leave some of the factions or do another playthrough at some point to cover them?
Yes you can. Just not 2 of the 3 houses. (unless you do a very specific trick to join another one.)
35:50 oh, so either there are more wizard staves floating around or I accidentally killed the person holding it without the quest. I just got it somewhere and used it as my first source of levitation before making my own spell
Also, return to Ilunibi for the Fists of Randagulf, Jon
I'm curious if the wizard rainis would have sent you to would have given you info about rainis, letting you oust her later
Should have got drakes pride probably the best robe in the game

If blood money is paid for shedding blood... Wouldn't this be the opposite of blood money? Since you paid it to not kill someone?
Spoiler:
So now that we've ruined the career of a misguided orphan afraid that anyone who wasn't under the guidance of the imperial mages guild might go on to commit the same atrocities that befell her family, it's time for some nice religious studies in the cult that is rival to the one we lead.
"I am destruction 70 now. and I like 70. not as much as I liked 69"(c)
Hey do you still have those scrolls of "flight" around?
Something in Morrowind sort of reminds me of playing Gothic...
Pet peeve Jon running around with half health and zero Magicka is ahhhhhhh! Slightly irritating 🥺🙏😭
what is the price of "constant effect restore magicka" enchantments? Absurd?
You can only enchant with magical spells you know. Restore magika isn't a spell.
In order to get a restore magicka effect on anything other than a potion I had to make a mod with a custom spell. Although the absorb magicka works pretty well in most cases.
Jon, did it occur to you that just because someone is offering restoration training doesn't mean they're good at it? He could be an amateur with good intentions, or even a scam artist. He could be hurting people, either through incompetence or lack of skill.
Also Jon, you can soul trap your own summons just as a FYI!
Day Jon 316 of requesting Age of Mythology. Honestly, the idea of the pope using souls as fuel for his shirt and pants is somewhat at odds with the Biblical number of today. Then again, I've already established I'm a protestant and don't understand how theology works for followers of any kind of Pope or Patriarch.
Would the pope robe cancel out the downside of the boots of Icarus flight?
Day 359/1230 of requesting Jon play a game nobody will remember, like Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim.
I’m a big fan!
You're a wizard Harry!
Assu who names these places?
A guy tripping balls who had a fascination with ancient Assyrian naming conventions. Like literally that's how half the lore was written
@@skaphanatic5657 that explains why the names all feel inexplicably familiar to me
@@skaphanatic5657 No, that's a myth. He didn't take any drugs (just alcohol.)
You could have just worked for basically any other Mages Guild Jon. You chose to keep working for the lady who loves murder. Probably best to get rid of her though. Sadly she just disappears from the game
I always worked for the other guilds, so I never saw the end of her questline.... very satisfying resolution tbh!
She is the most Telvanni of the mages guild questgivers (she learned it from the best), so appropriate enough for a member of House Telvanni to see her quests to completion.
@@ragnarrragnarrson8597 Although her final quest is legitimate, there is a Telvanni Spy in the guild who is influencing the Archmage. If you do take the info back to her, she gives you a daedric dagger enchanted with soultrap named Souleater, and Tiram disappears from the Vivec guildhall. If you aren't doing a House Telvanni character I would consider her resolution the more moral one.
@skaphanatic5657 Personally I still co sider this route more moral. Yes the other guy is likely a Telvani spy, however we don't know what he's doing with that info that's actively harming others. Ranis on the other hand has actively been trying to assinate other mages who weren't even breaking the law, and harm others who were breaking the rules in order to do a moral good. The Telvani suck but Ranis is basically a Telvani in all but name, and unlike the spy we actively see how much she's abusing her power to do harm to others.
Okay this is Top 3 of your gaming series, easy.
Its been mentioned but SOUL TRAP YOUR OWN SUMMONS!!
Put those scrolls of Summon Golden Saint to good use!
Is it possible that the Elder Scrolls- any of them, could get another run through like the love you show the Fallout series? How much fun you had in Oblivion was so entertaining, and Morrowind has been an utter delight. With so much to do, explore, and exploit can we hope for more Elder Scrolls runs?
Day 246 of requesting Jon play Okami HD
How long until Jon realizes a constant slowfall enchantment of 1 will prevent him from jumping?
I'm betting next episode and he'll be all confused by it.
You can still jump with slowfall of 1. I run around with it every play through. What you can not do with slowfall 1 is while water walking you never actually touch the surface of the water and thus you can't jump then. But on land you can jump just fine.
Yeah, every playthrough I make a set of exquisite pants with constant effect 1 pt slowfall, and fill the rest of the enchanting capacity with constant effect restore fatigue. Jumping is definitely fine.
@skaphanatic5657 I do the same thing I always name them "Parachute Pants"
@@stevengull6703 Is that when you point mockingly at the ground and tell it: "Can't touch this"?
Necromancy? No I'm not a necromancer you should just let me go...
Okay.
This is how you get zombie apocalypses.

No Civilization VII? Did they snub you?
He's mentioned in multiple videos he's been playing it non stop. Pay attention

We've been trying to get him to do that since the beginning of this series... ever since he started complaining about his stamina being low the whole time.
