  • Hello beautiful people! Hip dysplasia is a condition where the ball of the femur does not fully remain in the socket of the pelvis. This can be due to a variety of reasons. Haniya has low tone (hypotonia) and subluxation in one of her legs. The ligaments that would normally hold up the femur into the pelvic joint are lax. This resulted in the underdevelopment of the socket, where it was not deep enough to hold the femur in place. This can either lead to dislocation of the joint or subluxation (partial dislocation). Haniya was prescribed to wear the rhino brace at night. The hip brace keeps the hips abducted or in a more outward position.
I hope this video helps you in deciding whether or not to use this brace and gives proper instruction on taking care of and putting on the brace! :)

I don't know how severe your daughter's dysplasia is so I cannot comment on how long it will take. Haniya had a slight subluxation, but she cannot walk as she has severe hypotonia. But I do know that the process will take some time, so do not be frustrated. Once the hip is in its proper place, you can help your daughter strengthen her legs. I hope everything works out! 🙂

Hi Shaikh! Usually the rhino brace is recommended for children up to three or four years of age. For older children, it is often recommended that an orthopedic surgeon assess the hip. As always please consult with your doctor! 🙂

Hi! I live in the U.S. and the physical therapist ordered one for us after taking measurements to ensure a proper fit. I suggest getting in contact with your physician who can direct you further. 🙂

Hi my little just got told she has hip dysplasia. How old is your daughter? My little is 8 months and walking and crawling.. does this have to stop when she gets in a brace or a cast? I’m worried 😭💔

Hi! My daughter was hypotonic and did not walk or crawl, so leaving it on was not an issue. With the brace on, normal symmetric crawling won't be possible. But your daughter will still find ways to get around even with it on! 🙂

Hi Perkasa! Unfortunately I don't know where you can order one in Indonesia. I would advise you to get in contact with a local physician who will be able to evaluate your daughter to see if she is eligible for one. 🙂

I am from Pakistan. My son is suffering from DDH. After open surgery the doctor recommended Hip brace he is 15 months old. How can i get this brace, as here in Pakistan we have not these stuff in good quality. If it is possible for me to get this one you are showing.
    Thank you so much

Hello! I hope your son is doing better after the surgery. Unfortunately, I don't know where this would be available. There are durable medical equipment stores that sell these here, but insurance approval is needed. The physical therapist also needs to ensure the fit works for the child. That being said, the main purpose of the rhino brace is to keep the legs in a "frog leg" position. This can be achieved with similar products. I hope you are able to find something that works for you!❤️

We’re just starting our journey. My daughter is 13 month and just started walking today but goes to get fitted Wednesday. I’m really worried it will affect her more because she’s so much older than the “ideal” time to catch it.

    • @speciallyhaniya5757

I know it's stressful. But, I am glad the doctors caught it and are doing everything they can to treat it non-invasively. Good luck and I hope everything works out well! :)

Do not Worry.........I see kids and some teens with H.D. that turned out to be just fine. They may have a little hip/knee and foot internal rotation(in toeing) but, that's about it. With the Rhino, Its training the muscles that are responsible for keeping the head of the Femur in place during use. I know you posted months ago..........How is your child doing?

BladeRnnR _1970 shes doing ok. She didn’t have as much problem with mobility as I feared. It didn’t even seemed to slow her down at all. There’s been some improvement, but not much. We go back in October to see how things are going. Thanks for asking. :)

Hi Puja! There can be several reasons why the brace does not work. The orthopedic surgeon can assess your daughter and give other options. The last resort if the brace is unable to correct the displacement, is surgical reduction. I hope you are able to get answers!❤️
