Thanks for your query. The usual recommended dose of metformin in such a situation is 500 mg each, twice daily, unless it's contraindicated. However, I strongly urge you to take your Dr's advice before taking any meds, including metformin. Thanks once again.

Janumet is usually better than plain metformin in type 2 diabetes. The dose might vary from person to person.
