    I like the way these guys deliberately dive into the "off the one" thing that made Clapton's Cream version so iconic. These guys are masters. Good post.

    Perfect example of two great guitarists executing the "duel" flawlessly. Too often do guitarists not read each other well enough and end up flubbing these.

    Warren is just so much more genuinely creative. Joe is lucky to have him there, supplying material to work with.

    How cool is that, the keyboard man takes a picture of Warren on his stage. Legend.

    Joe plays like Eric would if he wasn't so old. Clapton's version of this changed rock history. Every kid cut his teeth learning all the rifts off Cream's album.

    • @RobertLane78
      @RobertLane78 10 лет назад +1

      I know it's made me a lot slower, it's a fact. Johnny Winter isn't as fast as he used to be. Clapton was fast in Cream and part of the Dominoes He then stopped taking chances and is much slower.

    • @superalvedon97

    • @utsabgurung5930

      Clapton didn't slow down bcuz of his age. He barely played any solos during the 70's after leaving cream in his early 20's. As ones musical taste matures, playing fast riffs and solos don't thrill u anymore.

    • @RobertLane78
      @RobertLane78 9 лет назад

      He stopped taking chances and slowed down. Age had something to do with it.

    • @utsabgurung5930
      @utsabgurung5930 9 лет назад +1

      Bonamassa is 37, and I don't think he's gonna slow down anytime soon. Clapton was 22 when he left cream and practically stopped soloing when he was in blind faith. I don't think age slows u down in a year, in your early 20's, unless you choose to do so. Jimmy page hasn't slowed down a bit, which can be seen at the zeppelins reunion concert. And of course the cream reunion couldn't have gone any better.

    IMHO , Crossroads will never be played any better than Eric , Jack and Ginger did it on " Wheels of Fire" .. A once in a lifetime , 3 Piece performance that Thousands of Guitar Slingers have since cut their teeth on ...

    they put a mic on the inside of the plexiglass and send the single to the board and out to the house system. The plexiglass works the same way small venues use it for drums, muffles the direct sound. This gives it balance and does not blow Wayne off the stage from that direct cabinet.

    All these people proclaiming what could've been better LOL! Now that is true Hack Speak if I've ever heard it. Please. Take this for what it is.........2 undisputed bad ass guitar slingers having fun and the audience and us get to witness it. How many guitarists does it take to change a light bulb: a pile of them. One to actually change the bulb and the rest to whisper off to the side about how they could've done it better. But they never say..........but I didn't have the sack to do it.

    Woulda been killer had they not been trying to outplay each other. When doing this tune the guitar player's gotta be good enough to play it in a trio of one lead, one bass, and one drummer, or they'll merely sound like amateurs compared to the Clapton version from Wheels of Fire. I know both were glad Stevie Ray wasn't there. Ya'll know what I'm sayin'. For example of how it's supposed to be done check out Leslie West's version.
