The Magnetic Fields is one of the few bands that could make albums with 50+ songs where most if not all the songs are good production and songwriting wise. The chorus on this song is just fantastic.
This song has been melting my heart...I think that this is one of the very best Magnetic Fields records. I have had a few favorites on the album that I've been stuck on, but this one is my latest.
You just never know with them!? I didn't even appreciate or really even like 69 love songs FOR YEARS and now there's at least a dozen songs in the bunch I couldn't live without. Like songs id deem essential
This must be about John Foxx? Merritt has done quite a few covers of other synth pioneers and I think their music had a big impact on him. Any song by one of my favourite musicians about one of my favourite musicians earns superlove.
This is the Best of the six songs he has released so far. I'm sorry but Stephin is not literally a God as most churches would have u believe. Have you not heard Tokyo a Go Go, Volcana, We are Having a Hootenanny, Punk Love, Goin' Back to the Country and Drink Nothing but Champagne ? And let us not forget the newest addition .... the its so0o0o bad its good. Be True to Your Bar.
The comment is obviously meant to be taken as a hyperbole. Also, Tokyo A-Go-Go and Be True to Your Bar are amazing songs, Punk Love is an intentionally stupid song and as such quite charming I think (either way, it shouldn't count), and Drink Nothing but Champagne is a nice tune.
The other 5 songs were a bit meh, but this is fab...so its got my hopes back up again. After the mediocre Bottom of the Sea I thought Merrit had lost "it", but maybe not.

Came here to say this. That chorus is just pure ear candy.

This is so good, so bloody profoundly good, it makes me ache.
Great to hear a touching tribute song to John Foxx. A great hero of mine. Well done.

Edit - 'Anyone can change into a machine' - definitely a shout out to JF's 'I wan't to be a machine' (from back when he was in Ultravox!)
Edit - 'Exploring other oceans' - Cathedral Oceans
Edit - Sorry for going all conspiracy theorist on this. Turns out a quick google solves the issue (yes it is)
It definitely sounds like an affectioned homage to John Foxx (of the "Metamatic" period): even in the musical structure.
Absolutely! There are other songs in the album with similar Foxx sound...
He will always be my hero.
So very fantastic.
Omg, can't wait for this album.
I love this record.
i'm so completely in love with this. this is going to be his best since I, i'm sure.
Stephin's last great album was Partygoing with his other band Future Bible Heroes. :)
it wasn't that good. not enough stephin's vocals.
Ян Шляков Partygoing is fucking awesome and a classic. The instrumentation on that album is stellar.
I can hear a really good remix of this
Very 80s. Reminds me of a band, but I can't quite think of it. I want today The Cars..Reminds me of our house
Check out Human League and Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark
Heaven 17s Martin Gore.
well, as mentioned, he is referring to foxx, john foxx.
Why not Ultravox or John Foxx himself?
Great!
Perfetta.
yay.
March 10 2017 - countdown is on.
All hail John Foxx!
So far I'm diggin' Foxx and I, I Wish I Had Pictures, Haven't Got a Penny, Dreaming in Tetris, In the
Snow White Cottages, Weird Diseases and Quotes.
Hustle 76 is a banger
Check out the 6ths albums. Great stuff!
jps7776 wasps nests is one of my top 3 favorite Stephin albums.
Merritt couldn't write a bad song if he tried.
Have you heard ALL of his songs?
Yes.

Un Homme Qui Dort no no and no
Love both Merritt and Foxx body of work, but I can't help but to hear a tint of "Fastball - the way" while I listen to this.
Oh God why?!
Anyone can see the road that they walk on its paved in gold... Dammit! Now I can't un-hear it.
Oh merry melancholy...
The other 5 songs were a bit meh, but this is fab...so its got my hopes back up again. After the mediocre Bottom of the Sea I thought Merrit had lost "it", but maybe not.
henryyydarkkk love at the bottom of the Sea is an underrated psychedelic album !
This is a great track. The album, not as great as I hoped.
Great song, but the album is very uneven.
love it thanks =)
