It's a hymn, a prayer, and a folky dmb all at the same time.. can just feel the Holy Spirit emanating through this one.. I don't know Dave's whole story/background with regards to a Christian Faith.. but whatever it is/was.. this song was filled with Gospel story and the power of the Christ, through and through. "With the wine you gave Jesus, that set him free after three days in the ground"..Praise Jesus.
Just wow never seen this before! Thank you for sharing. As a younger man I kept screaming for dave to play bartender like an idiot but he finally looked at me pointed to me ad played the song. I felt like it was for me... probably wasn't but I dont care I have that moment in life forever!
Your correct, it NEVER gets old. The degree of ease in which DM strums that FUNKY groove just shows the guy is so naturally talented. He's blessed with that gift.
One of the most beautiful things i have witnessed in the past several years... ThanK YOU so much dave, for pouring you heart out, in such a perfect and beautifully profound way... the song that Jane likes? Love you bro....
Just your average night with Tom, Jane and Dave. Good grief, are you kidding me. My life is boring. Tom, thank you so much for sharing your special moment with us. I am so jealous and happy for you at the same time. I live in Lincoln so I am a little crushed that Dave was here in Nebraska and I didn't get to hear him play. By the way, I love your photographs about as much as love Dave's music. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Oh so cool. Playing for Dr. Goodall . . . .and for Dr. Goodall getting a fireside serenade from Dave . . . . man this is a dinner party I would love to be invited to attend!
+michael poe Or maybe they just enjoy each others company. Enjoy each others skill. Elitism is not always a bad thing when tempered with humility. Ultimately we all enjoy bringing joy to our friends and loved ones. There is no need to be biter about that.
My favorite dmb song. I love seeing the emotional roller coaster that lady goes on, hearing Dave's lyrics bout made her cry. Which may have made me cry. Ha-ha Thank you always Dave...
@@efraz445sorry I call bs on this one too. Saw a very screamy Dave show just recently. He does not do it as much as he used to though. You just have to catch him in the right show.
this such an intimate moment to watch. Look at the lady and how she can't take her eyes of Dave...this is not her era but how can you NOT be moved.... so amazing. .. and sorry if I am late to the game i just got my gmail/youtuebe account...
I have Thomas Mangelsen's on my wall and am from Nebraska where this video takes place, my favorite musician is Dave Matthews and I am from Nebraska....All True....very happy to have stumbled upon this post.
@MegaLittleboy1 As Tom said, it's a custom 000 sized Rockbridge 12 fret guitar. Dave now owns multiple Rockbridge guitars. I've only got one, but it's a good one!
Jane Goodall; Queen of all things ape knowledge, check. Dave Mathews; King of all things rock music, check. That leaves me to thank Thomas Mangelsen for serendipity.
Looks like a little parlor style guitar; those are much easier to truck around when you're traveling. Maybe he picked it up specifically for this trip since it seems to have been a pretty intimate and low-key affair. I'm just amazed at how strong the guitar sounds in this little setting with nothing more than a camcorder mic picking it up.
Wow- kudos on knowing the woods used! Are you sure its a 000? Looks a bit small... but I'm just guessing. Where did you get the low down on this guitar? I just saw him in concert and I'm dying to know more about these "Rockbridge" axes.
AWESOME!! Many many thanks for posting. The title, Mr. Matthews other job, Innkeeper may I get a Vo Manhattan straight light on the Vermouth w/ a 🍒 & stem ( only cherries I will ever nibble... ) No 🍋 lemon. Here's a $20 thank you for your fine craft of refinement & splendor. This is Sir Dave Matthews' song "Bartender" 🍸😎 Porta Sainté
seriously people JANE GOODALL. If you don't know who she is Google it. I am sure even the Great Dave Matthews is humbled in that room.

“Bartender you see... the wine that’s drinking me” !!!! This song is full of powerful Lyrics !
Somehow the way Dr. Goodall observed Dave as he played is as beautiful as Dave's performance itself
What a gifted musician dave is. I've seen him in concert dozens of times, it never gets old.
Same
This almost makes me wanna cry..love this song. And jane goodall? Wow.
Just wow never seen this before! Thank you for sharing. As a younger man I kept screaming for dave to play bartender like an idiot but he finally looked at me pointed to me ad played the song. I felt like it was for me... probably wasn't but I dont care I have that moment in life forever!
I love how intently Jane and Thomas listen and watch. What a marvelous situation. Thanks for sharing. LoVE.
Just a guitar and the voice can make this a Powerful Song, WTG DAve!
I've always loved this video. Dave is always at his best during intimate moments
Can you imagine? Hangin with Dr. Jane Goodall.........Dave, you are so lucky.
The words escape me...
Your correct, it NEVER gets old. The degree of ease in which DM strums that FUNKY groove just shows the guy is so naturally talented. He's blessed with that gift.
I keep coming back this version. The slight harmonics he’s creating with the picking hand is just fantastic
That old lady by the fireplace is the happiest person in the world...

The gift of thousands of hours of practice. That's what those that are great have done a ton of.
lucky folks listening live to it, really really lucky... and wheras dmb goes..IT NEVER GETS OLD

Dang Tom I didn't even know about this. I am a huge fan of both of you. Excellent song also, one of my favorites.
This is amazing. God, I love Dave Matthews
love when hes in his like "chill solo" acoustic mode, soft voice almost like he probably does alone
Beautiful song. Reminds me of my fam in Ireland for some reason.
This is on a level of awesomeness that I can't even begin to comprehend. I'd trade an arm and a leg to have been in that room.
Beautiful
god i love dave matthews.
My favorite dmb song.

Thank you always Dave...
blessed are our eyes, our ears, our hearts. our souls.
Fantastic to see an artist of his caliber playing in a relaxed environment. Probably received no money for doing so...if not that's even better!
+Tracy Rascoe
And knowing that he doesn't
need any studio enhancements. Not that i thought he did before, but you know what I mean.
One of the last times that he hit such high notes, sadly :*( But yes, pure talent!!!
@@sicariusperemo3789 He deff still hits the high notes, if not more now than ever before, he just cant really scream anymore
@@sicariusperemo3789yeah I call bs. Saw him do it last week.

I cant get enough of this video. Love to be hanging by the fire with acoustic dave!
What I would do to sit next to a fire and have Dave play the guitar 👌🏻
Haha at the end she says,"he's got a good voice huh!" Haha she's rad. This whole situation is pretty rad!
she doesnt say that. hahahah.... she says "he's making a lot of noise"
thank you for sharing that. very cool to be able to see the intimate stuff. that is my favorite song by Dave
Greatness unrealized. And that's okay. He's our secret.

I love this intimate version. I just added it to all my playlists.
AdamBicycle Me too. My wife and I just saw him in Mexico and then find out he was in Nebraska this year too. What I would give to meet him once.
So right on, so absolutely right on.

sgim43 10 fucking douchebags !

"You have a good voice!" 😀😀😀
That look of admiration and wonder on Jane Goodall's face...fuck

He also performs 'fool to think' with Dr. Goodall. Anyone know where I can find the video.
that guitar sounds beautiful what is it?
beautiful
very good !!!
Love
I'd sell my soul to play like Dave.
You just gotta practice constantly man.
Maybe, but the singing, the writing, that’s more of a born with it thing. You never know unless you do the practice bit.
