One thing I didn’t expect but kind of liked was that MH3 was such a powercrept set that most of the cards are low price because everyone is going for the chase cards for competitive play so there is a surplus of everything else.

As a matter of fact, I typically pick up a lot of cards from your 10 cards you should be playing in your commander deck videos. I haven't bought any cards in months. Barely looked at any cards that have come out since before fallout. My brother told me that the medallions were only like 5 bucks now so I ended up grabbing a few with some other cheap things. But ya. It's non stop. At some point ur decks are fine as they are. You don't need the latest and greatest of every card to win/ have fun in casual commander games.
I solved my issues with excessive product by not buying any product from stores and exclusively buying singles. Now, I don't care about card prices, I don't care about how much new product is released, and I don't care if I miss something, I can always buy one whenever I decide to pick it up later, and that's as someone with very little spending money, I've been able to pick up things like the great henge, finale of devastation, full art foil phyrexian altar, etc. It's so much better than cracking packs financially.
I feel like another really solid bloomburrow green creature is Three Tree Rootweaver!! Its a 1+ G CMC, 1/3 toughness/power creature with the ability to tap it for 1 mana of any colour. I have it in my Adrix & Nev, Twincasters deck and it has been great for the ability to choose either G or U when needed 😊
Smoke bomb is way underrated. It’s a flashy fun card at the table, and it is pretty good. First game I added it to a deck, I prevented a Skullbriar from gaining 6 +1/+1 counters and who knows how many more shenanigans that turn, then swung an 8/8 double strike unblockable. Unanimously the card of the game.
MH3 low key made me not enjoy deck brewing like I did because of the upgrades. I like your nods to some new things that arent broken. Keep it up Demo. I appreciate ya
Definitely agree about assassin's Creed cards. Thought the set was overall not too impressive, but the cards don't at all feel out of place and there are some cool gems.
I think some context that was brought up in a Patreon video would be useful in this one too. Going through the MH3 cards in that Patreon video ~50cards would be upgrades/fit in your decks - and here there are ~10 cards across 3 sets? The youtube audience may not be aware of the stark difference of "I'm no longer buying cards - probably" to "here are the 10ish cards i bought"
It could look one way or the other. Fact of the matter is the idea was the principle that Wizards is printing very strong cards as of late with zero concern for the player base as to what that does to the health of the game in the long run. And, from what I could tell, Demo (at the very least, even if not fully committing to it) brought up the idea that we as Magic players should speak with our wallets and maybe not buy sets or cards from sets moving forward. Again, he didn’t hard to commit to it, but the idea is there. And a lot of people in that comment’s section agreed with that idea. So him not following through, even though he never 100% promised to not buy new cards, makes it LOOK LIKE he’s a bit hypocritical. And I don’t blame him. This product is meant to sell. It’s meant to be appealing. It’s meant to be addicting. Yugioh players call it “cardboard crack” for a reason. Im still buying new stuff. I just never buy packs for myself. Just singles as it’s literally gambling otherwise. Im not gonna pretend to stand for anything nor attack anyone for not sticking to whatever. All im saying is it does LOOK bad in certain contexts. Maybe there shouldve been some sort of disclaimer addressing his decision to keep buying cards from the newest sets.
The main issue with checking out of new sets (which I totally get, the release schedule is a fire hose) is that a lot of the newer sets are so power-crept that you will feel the absence of a lot of these cards if the rest of your playgroup has bought in (I'm looking at you Outlaws and Modern Horizons in particular). I believe I currently own and use 5 of the green flare and 4 of the white one so I am definitely part of the problem, sadly.
Full agree. If there is one Player who goes ahead, every other will follow. I almost feel the same as playing Standard again. Edh is Timeless, they said, you don't have to upgrade every set, they said...
MH3 had so many crazy good cards that yes, you do feel the difference. Put 7 cards from that set into my favorite commander deck, and it is definitely stronger now
Looking forward to Lumra and Three tree city for my Mycotyrant deck. Caretaker's Talent will be amazing in my selesnya token deck. Other than that not so hyped by the set (difficult to be after MH3, that set had too many good stuff).

Flare of Fortitude will not stay at these lower prices. That card can purchase you a turn at the cost of "sacrifice a nontoken creature." Should probably be in any white deck that runs academy rector or something really horrific like False Prophet. Just picked up 2 more Retro Chthonian Nightmare because that card is awesome. I thought O.G. recurring nightmare was busted but in a low to the ground aristocrats with my best bud Lurrus this card is value-town. Don't sleep on Birthing Ritual either I think $4 borderless won't be seeing that price again if it gets picked up.
I own 6 decks. Cards on my radar - Coruscation Mage for my Ghyrson starn deck. Starfall Invocation because I love boardwipes. Three Tree City because bears (Kudo). I may pick up a copy of Dawn's Truce if I can fit it in my OG Brimaz deck.
tbh a lot of creators could have just pretended like they didn't get any new cards and tried to take the 'morally superior' position. I'm really glad you showed off 'yea some of these cards are sweet guys' and you clearly love the game. IDK it's refreshing compared to people chasing clout out there.
I guess they found ways to rotate eternal formats and trick people into that rat race of getting the new cards even though its a casual format and you don't really need them. But somehow you now do because older cards are becoming too weak.
I've got Octomancer in my Adrix & Nev, Twincasters token deck, and with their token doubling ability + the many other ways I have of making multiple tokens. He has been insane 😂 I end up getting 2 8/8's each time I proc that ability at the very least

Bills are not toys, game pieces.

It can disappear in a blink. But also, that's like saying I wouldn't pay for any high valued classic art cause it's just on a cloth canvas. They need to slow the f down it's annoying. If they were spread out I'd spend more on each set instead of being overwhelmed and skipping sets

On the Flares, I picked up a Flare of Cultivation. You get some great land advantage for free. It's super underrated
