    My all time favorite Behemoth album. I can't believe how CHUGGY the sound is. Nergal's vocals are outright maniacal at some points and the guitars legit sound like a chainsaw. Kinda reminds me of Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales. Not to mention the machinegun drumming and the magical atmosphere provided by Celina. What a absolute masterpiece.

    this album is absolutely great, like everything else Behemoth has ever done. these black metal elitists in the comments are pissing me off. Behemoth has most certainly evolved with each album, becoming slightly better and more original with each. those who are complaining that their death metal stuff sucks, grow up. the band has progressed. what's the point of even being a band if you aren't going to change a little bit each time and better yourself? The Satanist in my opinion is one of the greatest albums of all time and a flat out masterpiece. I say Behemoth is at their peak in terms of originality and musical content. they're still plenty dark and the black metal influence is most definitely still there, but they've incorporated many new influences to reach the top of their game.

    • @MasterSoto
      @MasterSoto 7 лет назад +6

      Actually, it's hard to say they progressed. Here, every song has its own identity, it's own sound, subtlety, atmosphere, aggression, aesthetic and organic sound, while with most of the newer albums, the songs form one giant mass of sound, where all instruments compete with each other as to which is the loudest, fastest and most brootal, complete with sterile digital studio production. Compare this to Demigod, for instance, you will see what I mean. At least the last two albums were better in that the songs were more dynamic, diverse and above all, interesting, but between this album and the one before the latest, sorry, there was no progression. It was just Nile/Morbid Angel.

    • @JRChiossi
      @JRChiossi 6 лет назад +5

      I like Behemoth. But they went on to become Poland's clone of Morbid Angel's "Gateways to Annihilation" phase. Not bad at all, but certainly not original. Their stuff up to and including Satanica is their best.

    It's a pity they didn't stay that way. I did love this album. It was black metal, with pagan spirit. Nowadays Behemoth is not the same anymore.

    Never listened to the BM era Behemoth because I always thought it was gonna be a copy/worship of Mayhem/Gorgoroth/etc., but now I finnaly went to listen to it and while I was certainly right, it is very good stuff and has unique elements that makes it even better.

    youre totally right. The labels are for the fans though. For ease & simplicity when describing wholly separate forms of metal, hence why theres got to be some dichotomy between black & death metal making blackened death/deathened black.
    But as a musician i come from where Nergal comes from..when you're in the studio you're not thinking what genres which, you're ripping out kickass songs & stampin' approval.
    Their sound changed but they are professional badasses, who haven't made a bad album.

    People saying this band "sold out" you know black metal as a whole is obscure and that only maybe the 5 biggest bands make even decent money, like an actual living? You make it sound like they've stripped down their sound into something degenerative. You'd say the same about this record if it gained any popularity.
