      @@GabrielTobing you're right! If you're upgrading from an Intel 101, 201, 203, 211, then you can upgrade to a 411. They all use CNVio2 which is an Intel standard that moves some processing off the wifi chip and onto the CPU. Otherwise the AX210 is a safer bet. Another I don't think I say in the video is that many laptops have a whitelist in the bios that prevents upgrading wifi cards.

    I've demoted my AX200 back to a 11yo PC in ASUS PCIE card adapter NGFF Key A+E. I got a newer. The AX210 worked as well for test bench from X58. X79, X99. X299 It's more about the chipset & CPU interconnect & OS. For example, the newer AX211 is a Key E CNVi CPU/Chipset interconnect not using USB. So even if it fits, may not work. I haven't used it in an old system yet. As for those others with M.2 NGFF mini PCI or Key E/ E+A, they adapt, some.
    Brilliant video (:

      Nice, Philip! Definitely if you're already planning to upgrade, I'd definitely choose the ax210 over the ax200. The Xaiomi x3600 looks like a great, affordable router. The one explanation I could find for the dedicated AIoT antenna is that it provides a separate network for iot devices over 2.4 and 5ghz wifi. Can you corroborate that? I originally was guessing that it supported zigbee or zwave or Bluetooth somehow. .

      HP often puts in place a bios whitelist for wifi cards that they know will work and be compliant. If it's a newer laptop, you may be able to fix the issue by updating your bios.
      Otherwise, you may be able to find a tutorial for removing the whitelist from the bios or someone may have posted a bios for your model with the whitelist already removed.
      I have a lenovo with a similar issue and was unable to resolve it. Best of luck! 😬

      Knowing more about your current setup might be good, but in general, no it won't. In fact, 6ghz will penetrate walls less and have less range than 2.4ghz or 5ghz. Probably a range extender or access point like the Netgear EX3700 might be a better solution for you if your laptop keeps loosing connection. The EX3700 can have a cable run to it and it can be run in access point mode.

    I'm confused don't you need a different antenna to actually utilize 6GHz frequency? Can someone answer this?

    • @tensense5872
      @tensense5872 3 года назад +2

      A router capable of delivering it. Basically at the moment there are very few routers which can deliver wifi6e and if you want one you will be paying a premium. It operates on 6ghz channels, above that of 5ghz and likely congestion free. The higher spectrum range also means it can't travel as far without being disrupted so you might be thinking you need higher dbi antenna to pick up a decent signal, or even something like a mesh system to ensure it's fired through the whole premises. If you bought an ax210 chipset you should be able to access wifi 6ghz channels with it but I highly doubt you are willing to pay the 600-1000 smackers for the router capable of delivering it. At the moment a wifi 6 router, WPA3 over 802.11ax is great. If you seriously need more speed than a 5ghz connection to that you should be hardwiring a 10gbit LAN. Wifi6e is just too young to be worth it atm. Another thing to consider is lots of wifi 6 routers are advertised as 160mhz bandwidth over 5ghz. This is not the same as wifi6e, which operates on specific 6ghz channels 160mhz wide. Whereas these routers use 2x 80mhz (5ghz) channels, in theory doubling the 80mhz throughput. In theory these 160mhz 5ghz channels should allow you to break 1gbit, providing ideal environmental factors are present. But likely real world performance wont be anywhere near. Hope this helped.

    • @tensense5872
      @tensense5872 2 года назад +1

      @@foreverprogaming2421 It's a complicated issue really, there could be several factors influencing your poor connection. The bad router you mentioned could be causing the issue or the laptop could have bad antenna or both. Furthermore there could be other issues affecting your connectivity such as environmental issues, router placement etc. The choice between ax200 and ax210 is fairly simple though, they both use the latest 802.11ax standard which is more secure and theoretically provides a better connection. The ax210 provides bluetooth 5.2 support so if you're planning on some new bluetooth headphones any time in the next couple of years it would be a good option. ax210 also supports wifi6e which would allow you to use 6ghz channel (hopefully eliminating lots of environmental factors influencing you connection and increasing connection speed) BUT you would have to buy a router which supported Wifi6E too, these cost upwards of $300 last time i checked. If you plan on upgrading your router to a Wifi6E one then go for ax210 or even ax211. But if you're happy with your headphones and dont want to spend >$300 on a router ax210 is a solid option upgrading simply to utilise 802.11ax is worth while. Finally I can only see a difference of about $20 between a ax200 and ax210 chip so spending a little more now might give you more options and upgrade paths later. :) hoped this helped.

  • @c-weed28
    @c-weed28 3 года назад +2

    Do you think these manufacturers just slapped on the antennas from their 2.4-5ghz onto the ax210's that they are selling? It'd be a huge bummer when I buy a wifi 6e router and the wifi adapter antennas don't support 6ghz at all. Don't wanna just waste $20-30.

    • @asquirl3471
      @asquirl3471  3 года назад

      I'm not sure. I won't be able to speak to accessories included with the ax210 that you're looking at. The antennas aren't built into the card itself. They're at the end of the two attached cables. But my guess is that 5ghz and 6ghz are so close together you won't see much issue either way. I installed the card in my laptop with the old antennas not specifically made for 6ghz. I found an old Cisco thread talking about the affect of using 5ghz antennas on a 2.4ghz system. The conclusion that I got from it is that it'll probably work, but no manufacturer will recommend it. community.cisco.com/t5/wireless/5ghz-antennas-on-2-4ghz-radio/td-p/1963107
      If you're concerned, just wait a bit longer for a whole kit from a brand you trust and get that. Or wait for an actual 6e router to come out and keep watching reviews to see if anyone runs into antenna issues.

      Only Thunderbolt provides the pcie protocol that is needed for one of these wireless cards.

      If you're using a small motherboard with an extra pcie slot, you can probably get a pcie Thunderbolt card. But you could also get the AX210 on a pcie card and skip a few steps.

      What kind of laptop? Are you using any adapters? The Bluetooth function may have separate drivers that you have to install.

    .....Why not get a Wifi card that's newer than your laptop? Is it a waste of time? Will it damage the computer?

    • @asquirl3471
      @asquirl3471  3 года назад +1

      It won't damage your computer, but it might just not work. Some companies like HP, Lenovo, and Dell put in a whitelist of components in the bios so that only certain wifi cards can be used. It might be more accurate to say that if you have a laptop from one of those makers, don't get a wifi card newer than your most recent bios update. MSI and Asus don't use bios whitelists so they're easier to upgrade.

      @@bot1fied your motherboard doesn't have a m.2 slot. There are two solutions that will work.
      Buy the AX210 card and pcie adapter separately:
      smile.amazon.com/dp/B08BWXNXFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_1ZmdGbNSNVN8D
      Or buy them together.smile.amazon.com/dp/B08519ST43/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_Z0mdGb9QQF1Y8
      I'd put them in the pcie 1x slot above your graphics card.

      Bryant A, that was true when I published the video, but currently both Asus and Netgear have 6e routers that are available for purchase. I'll agree though that there aren't any affordable ones. But you can future proof your laptop now for $20 or so. Especially if your laptop has a 2.4ghz only card and you'd like to upgrade anyway.
