- Tonight we go way back in the time machine to 2022 to find touch on some of my least favorite bottles of the year. Is this video a month or two late, yes! Did I want to make it anyway because I'm still bitter about these 7 bottles, yes! Do I hope you love this video, heck yes!
Jack Daniel's is bourbon video from last month - • JACK DANIEL'S, It real...

Aaaah man Jack Bonded is great!!! C’moooon.
I have to admit, the Jack Daniels bonded is pretty good, and I don't lean towards JD over other whiskey. Nice review, couple interesting bottles there for sure. Cheers.
JD Bonded is great for slightly more money then regular black label JD. I have gone through a couple bottles and it is my current go to. I think it is excellent quality for the price.
Always happy to see an honest "let down" bourbon video, but I would humbly recommend going into more detail on the flavor profiles and other specific aspects that let you down.
I wasn't a fan of the JD Bonded at first. I bought it on vacation and it was fine. After about a month I came back to it and really like it now. For the price, it's something I'd repurchase.
Exactly what happened to me ( except for the vacation part) cheers!
Agreed. I add a little water and it really opens up.
I also got the jack Daniels bonded and the triple mash at the same time , the difference was in the next 2 months I went through 3 bottles of the bonded and I still have the same triple mash . but other than that I have a Remus 6 but haven't opened it yet ,do t have anything to compare it with with all the not so hot reviews I've seen on it. And all the other bottles I never purchased.
That Kentucky Owl is pretty pricey for OK whiskey. It’s a recurring theme. There’s so much out there that’s 75% marketing and 25% focused on the whiskey. Good whiskey markets itself without gimmicks and butterflies. Great vid. A lot of these are bottles we’ve wondered about. Cheers!
This is the first time I have had Wild Turkey 101 and it is very tasty.
David I'm glad your not simping for Jackie Zykan and think everything she is involved with is gold like some of these other whiskey RUclipsrs 🤣🥃
Kentucky Owl St Patrick's 2022 release are still all over the place here. Even where some have been price dropped by $50 or more. I like how that 114 year blooper made it past editing. I read that 1909 was a good year for bourbon.
Suprised on the JD, one of my favorites-on my 3rd bottle.
I appreciate you telling us what, and why, you found a bourbon disappointing. To say something is overrated or overhyped, suggests that those of us who highly rate and hype a bourbon are wrong. I don’t appreciate that so much!
Evan Williams 1792, Old Forrester 1910, and Jack Daniels Distiller series with red wine cask were disappointing. I was surprised the most by 1910.
Blanton's should be on this list every year.
You’re not lying
Truth. It’s decent, middle of the road juice.
Decent pour for MSRP but not do secondary but this goes for nearly all bourbons now
I cracked a fresh Blantons on Sun. Had a sip and was like "uhhh oh yeah its just ok" I totally forgot how just ok it is. Been a while I guess.
There’s quite a few BT products that are highly sought-after and hard to find yet really don’t live up to the hype.
Agree on the Castle and Key...pretty meh but I kept the bottle to use as my infinity bottle. Also agree with JD Bonded...first time I tried it I liked it...then less...by the third bottle....doubt I go back.
Castle and Key looks like a great infinity bottle if it has a synthetic cork. Thanks for sharing.
No opinion on cypb, never had it but spot on for the rest. I've got a Remus V and II never even cracked, if ya go dry maybe we'll work something out. Great content as always.
I have a couple to add, the Kentucky Owl Confiscated... not horrible, but not worth the $90 I paid for it. Dickel 8 year... it wasn't very expensive, but it tasted 8 years ordinary. Finally, I bought a bottle of Frank August Single Barrell, again, OK, but I have $30 and $40 Bourbons that are far superior. Great video!
The JD Tennessee Tasters are phenomenal. I actually really enjoy the JD Bonded. I have only had the Blue Run Golden Rye and loved it. I also think the Castle and Key is not very good, and the Remus 6 is very overpriced here in TN as well.
Blue run emerald rye is a good one to try in my opinion
I wouldn't completely give up on Castle & Key. A local restaurant near me picked a barrel strength rye barrel that was outstanding. I was hesitant to try it, but the bartender insisted and I'm glad he did!
I agree with the blue run and ky owl st. P.
The blue run reflection is a great light basic bourbon. Nothing good and nothing bad. Thing I will use it to do some blending. Ky owl sp was the same. Passed up the jack u put up to the camera as they want 45 for it. Maybe next time
Really enjoyed the JD bonded... And the CYPB is my favorite Weller to date and I've had a few FP Sp and OWA Sp.
Tried to buy a glen cairn glass from your merch page but it says cant ship to my house??? Ive had other glen cairns shipped here. Don't understand.
Si, great content as always!
Great vid, just save bucket load of cash here . . . Many of these bottles now got dumped onto Ontario Canada for 150 $US+6%tax (as in VA)...
CYPB: Thanks for commenting on this bottle as I recently had a tasting. Yes, I too was underwhelmed and paid the price! Special Reserve (Weller) is much better! (And Cheaper!)
I hope you’re wrong on that blue run reflection. LoL… I just got a bottle. 😣 I couldn’t stand to see another height price bottle just sit on my shelf. I have to many of those already. Great video.
Picked up two of the Jack Daniels distillery series pecan bottles this past weekend at a local store after your last review. Can’t believe they were still on the shelf.
Great show once again David. I have not had the majority of those bottles. Except for the Bonded and Triple Mash, which I feel are both okay for around $35.00. I like that JD is trying new things. My favorite from them obviously is JDSBBP! Cheers. Thanks for steering me clear of those other bottles.
What do y’all think about a video recommending the best bourbons that come in 1.75L bottles?
Try the JD Bonded in an Old Fashioned...tasty!
Agreed on the hidden barn... I hated it and won't repurchase until I hear a reviewer or 2 say it's much better. Hope they get it together.
We've really enjoy the blue runs and castle and key. Blue run definitely likes their bourbon. price point is kinda high.
Thanks for the info, but kinda a bummer, but can save me $$$
The crooked name tag behind you is killing my ocd
I might be misinformed, but I’m pretty sure Blue Run is connected to Castle and Key. Pinhook series is also Castle and Key
My experience with Castle and Key and Blue Run has been the same as yours. I really tried to like them, but in the end, thought they were just "meh".
Opened a remus 6 and initially thought everyone bashing it was still high Af on Remus 5. Ended the bottle and the last third of it tasted like wet cigarettes. Was not pleasant.
JD Bonded on my first purchase was fantastic. Heavy handed on the banana and peanut flavors, was really delicious.
On second purchase, it tasted over proof, and the flavors were just hidden. I'm really disappointed by it. At some point in the future, I may return to it to give it another chance.
FYI everyone, Bull Run is place near where David lives, that's why he probably said that instead of Blue Run...
I 100% agree with the jack bonded. I purchased it due to it winning the award for one of the best whiskies of 2022 and I was not impressed. It was decent and had okay flavors, good for the price but I expected more.
4:24 I've had the 114 year 🤣🥃🤣🥃did you and Jaime have a bit too much whiskey before this video??
That's some old ass bourbon whiskey 😃🤣🥃
Very oaky I bet
@@ericdolby1622 I think very tannic oak taste profile 🤣🤣🤣
I had the Kentucky Owl Confiscated and just thought it was ok
I haven't had a blue run, I just stay away from them. Marketing at its finest.
The only thing to dislike about Jack Bonded is the 700ml size that's gradually becoming the new standard for spirits. Only $30 near me, it's a great bonded choice for alternating in with others like old forester or maybe WT 101
I wonder if we are reaching a point where there are just so many whiskeys out there now many of which are sourcing from the same distillers and then just using packaging and marketing to try to create a following and justify ridiculous prices and when you step back and evaluate it, do we really need this many companies bottling bourbon. We are all chasing all these brands and bottles only to find they are really either not that good or different and just a waste of money
The other thing is most of us have more bottles than we could ever drink! I'm not wasting my time with "decent" whiskey, it's got to be better or enough of an "experience" than what I already have if I'm buying it.
@@100puremustard5 💯 that's why I create content on my channel and watch everyone else's because I want to build a collection of really good whiskey which does not always mean the most expensive
@@guitarswhiskeyandgolf I hear ya. The only 2 bottles I clearly paid over MSRP were 2020 GTS and 2020 THHandy $200 each. Everything else: Old Carter's $150-$175, Coy Hill's $70, Weller FP $70, EHT BP $90, MWND $90, ECBP's $60-$70, Stagg Jr's $60....... etc etc you get the picture. I'm too cheap to over pay LOL
Try the Remus VI in a blind. I think you'll find you like it more than you realize.
I think the problem is Remus V was such an incredible release, especially @ $80-$90. There's no way IV could live up to it.
KO isn't what it used to be. All the people who created it and created the legendary releases are long gone and the brand is drifting towards the whorl pool of cast offs.
Aww man yeah our roads diverge on some of these. A+ agree on the JD Bonded. It's ehhh ok. The JD TM smoked the Bonded. Gotta disagree on both the BR Ref 1 & Remus VI. Those were both Delicious! Yeah $120 is way too much for the VI. For $99 scoop it up. Both are hitters though. Remember - 2020's $60 is 2023's $99...that's just inflation dude. Is what it is.
Anything that sells for hundreds over MSRP is automatically overrated in my opinion
Sure, if being overwhelmed is your thing.
David - Love you man but you are just wrong, wrong, wrong on the CYPB. Tell you what, any of that nasty CYPB that comes your way, just send it on over to me! I am with you on the JD bonded, one of the most disappointing bottles I have bought lately.
I avoid any JD expression..I dunno why? I love BR HR and Emerald..
I bought into the hype, and grabbed a bottle of JD bonded. What a disappointment. It's not good, at all. Regular 80 proof Jack is better.
Jack Daniels Bonded is average and over priced for 400ml bottle. No better than Old Grand Dad or Evan Williams that is half the price.
Lol yet you keep buying the blue run
That JD bonded is gross. Nasty
C and K # 5 is much better than the previous batches.
