Wow. Scott drove me up the Loton Park (Shropshire) climb at a charity event a few years ago in a Porsche GT3. The best 65 seconds I've ever had in a car!
Damn Scott, youtube did recommend me one clip, now I wanted to see more and see you have in 3? Years just 3 videos uploaded... why have you not more? :D
@@RC75 I suppose you need to understand how hillclimbing began. In the beginning, it was to prove the vehicle would get up the hill; the time element to prove who was best of those who made it. I think the best time, at the first meeting was about 75 seconds. It has got faster over the years. Shelsley is quite a short climb; most take longer. Most things you do are more about build up and anticipation, than anything else. There is more, to hillclimbing and sprinting, than the runs themselves; you meet people and there certainly was a social side to it. It's 25 years since I last competed but the years I spent at it were some of the best of my life. Driving a racing car, along a country lane at 100+ mph, gives you on hell of a buzz, irrespective of time.....actually the shorter the better.
@@RC75 Rallies sometimes included a hillclimb section, in the days before they became races on gravel. I know the RAC Golden 50 Rally had a stage at Prescott and that takes half as long again, to climb, as Shelsley. In fact, I drove up Prescott (Slowly) just over two weeks ago, for the first time in 25 years. Hillclimbs, in mainland Europe, tend to be longer but often they are on closed public roads. In the UK, after an accident on Kop Hill (Back in the 1920s), hillclimbs had to be on private roads and this explains why they are shorter (But with no time, to make up time, if you make a mistake). In the Isle of Mann, things are different and they have a 5km climb, on part of the TT course.
Oldest competitive motorsport event in the world if I recall correctly. Scary!
Holy shit, what an amazing speed and what a car control... Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing.
Dont say that!
i think the guy didn't blink once in 1:27
Somebody should make a video game about this

Wow, that was quick!😮
I'm sure the driver is good. but I'm also convinced that the videos have a fast-paced frame,
What was time against jos?

@@musography6958 omg your so right
All the power for that short way? :(....
That’s it? A few seconds? Why?
It seems longer when you're in the car. Don't knock it until you've tried it.
@@Martin310565 All the money and effort for a few seconds… that’s what I mean.

@@Martin310565 Thanks to tell me the story of the sport. But I keep it to rally, until I’m to old to drive😉

He missed the start by 1sec
I dont know for shure, but in Rally it means you are clear to Go, but the time does Not Start ticking untill the Car moves over the light barrier.
@Johannes your rght
Did not miss start. Timer starts automatically when timing strut on car breaks a beam...
