I was thinking the same thing. Death metal is a crowded genre. But having a vocalist of this quality and letting her push the boundaries of the genre is a good thing. Kind of like what Opeth does, but in Arch Enemy's own way.

@@mememaster8050 isnt arch enemy mostly known for their "screaming" female vocals. remove that and you join alot of the other female vocal bands. Dont get me wrong I love this song, but to make it a staple for the next songs... I dont agree on that
I love the combo of growl plus clean vocals, like Fear Factory or Amorphis did almost 30 years ago. Alissa has an amazing voice, let her use it. Agree?
Yeah that and ditch the preachy attempt at uplifting messaging also. Despite a few obvious differences this reminds me of Arch Enemy back when they were really good
Not ashamed to say I teared up when finally hearing Alissa do some clean vocals on an Arch Enemy track. This one if my favorite of the three singles to be released so far, and this is gonna be one of the albums I'm most excited for this year.
@@ClockworkEngineer They'd become more mainstream but lose a large chunk of their core audience. I'd like to see them use her cleans in maybe 1-2 songs A album but keep the rest true to their foundation

Chip is one of the top ClA agents/programmers and a cop, and, he's been planting secret references to me & him and the New World in most lyrics/movies/videos and plant-based products made over the past decade, while the ClA has been doing that over the past decades -- that's also why many of the newer lyrics are totally different from the way lyrics used to be...

@@V3x0r That's the first song i've listened from her, and my mind got blown away, but is there any other songs of Arch Enemy in which Alissa uses her clean vocals ?
@@axelf.5709 I'm told yes, but I'm not familiar with Arch Enemy's catalog. Be sure to check out the other songs on Nita's album. Amazing guest vocalists on all of them.
Can we, as metalheads, appreciate something? Alissa has the vocal chops to have had a stellar career in any mainstream genre and she also has the looks to get noticed and promoted by the industry that cares about that a lot. Instead, she chose to be one of us and this metalhead appreciates the great music we've gotten as a result and the shows we get to go to because of her choice. \m/-_-\m/
Will be a great chapter for Arch Enemy if they continue to use Alissa's voice to its full potential.. Her growl is plenty impressive but Her clean vocals are amazing..
Amott is insane, out of his freaking mind on that guitar! Those vocals are so unique for the band and when she comes back in with her signature style it's so brutal! Sick af🤘🤘
Arch Enemy
Really refreshing to hear Alissa's clean vocals, she is absolutely AMAZING all around. This band is definitely a force to reckon with, very excited as well for the new album!
@@BeardyGit89 ah yes only a true fan has all the time in the world and can listen to every song man I'm not a fan of any band then due to work and family draining all my time
Hard pass. It wrecks the song. And yes, I have heard her sing many times before, but I am not into how she's trying to fit it into the song here at all.
An absolute beast of a song, I have been having the blast of a lifetime with it. I'd gladly pay for a full album made entirely with songs such as Handshake With Hell and House of Mirrors. I love how this song brings back a huge 80's vibe in form, structure and energy. It's a kind of sound that is not so common anymore nowadays, and I am super into it. The way Arch Enemy blends that with their own sound makes it feel revitalized and a breath of fresh air to me. To some extent, it's what I dig from bands such as Unleash the Archers, albeit with a different approach. I also love the duality of this song and how the calm, melodic and sort of mellow sections build up to explosions of metal energy. Here Arch Enemy mixes this brutality and beauty in one really cohesive package that is topped off with a truly classic feel on the solos. Great job guys, please keep them coming!! \m/
@@louiscyfer6944 no autotune, it may be edited but literally everything in recorded music is edited and enchanced. and obviously they will multitrack and harmonize it, because it is a great effect, and again, literally every metal band with clean vocals did it. I'm 100% she can pull these vocals off live on stage
@@SanjiBlackLegz of course it was edited. also they used melodyne, which is like autotune, just lesser known outside of the industry. you do realize that i am a recording engineer, i actually know what i am talking about.
Guys how you brought it to a calm at 3:40 with her going clean vocals before exploding back to overdrive into the final at 4:40 gave my goose bumps goose bumps. Eargasm in it´s purest form. Thank you for this experience.
Before I know Alissa, I didn't listen to growl voice songs willingly. But now I find that I'm fascinated with her voice and often searching for Arch Enemy! Excellent song!!
Oh my god! She did it! She is singing clean! I hope that there are 1 or 2 tracks more on the album with clean vocals! This would be the perfect balance between new musical areas and the brutal roots of Arch Enemy. I guess everyone would agree, if I say that the only bad thing of this album is that we have nearly a half year to wait left because it will be released on July 29th... But my hype is still absolute real! Edit: My pre-order is done.
I mean, look: Johann and also Angela didn't sing clean. It means that "old school" Arch Enemy is a bit more brutal if you know what I mean. But Alissa has got such a good voice (during growling and clean singing). I would be a bit lost potential if she don't sing clean. I trust in Michael, Jeff, Daniel, Sharlee and Alissa that they all try to arrive a good balance between the "two styles". But I hope that they don't change too much. I mean it would be "not Arch Enemy" if there is more clean singing than growling/screaming/shouting and (I just said that) I'm sure that they use it in a moderational way to "prevent" the Arch Enemy sound we all love so much!
The song doesn't have the regular Arch enemy vibe, and still I can't get enough of it.... This is BRILLIANT!!!! Alissa's voice keeps getting better... Can't wait for the whole album to come out!
This has got to be their best track so far. The mixture of raw / clean vocals works brilliantly, as so many people are saying. Her "real" voice is fantastic and has got to be used more..
@@SoleZitooo This is Great! thanks for the tip-off. Great vocalist. For my favourite, check out Pisces (live session) by JinJer, if you haven't already. She's incredible! Also, find some of the reaction videos from the professional vocal coaches watching this video for the first time. Their reactions are hilarious...
The clean vocals are a very welcome addition to the song , definitely the best of the 3 new songs, I'd really like to heat more songs mixing up the death grunts and the clean vocals as Alissa is a really special talent
When I thought Arch Enemy couldn't get any heavier, any tighter as a band.....they prove me WAY wrong!! This is f'ng epic!!! I salute you Arch Enemy!! 🎸🥁🎶🎵❤️🤘🙏
I love seeing Alissa show of all her talents in one song 💙 with the screaming and clean vocals. It might not be what all fans like but I’ve followed her since before she joined Arch Enemy and I like the mix.
That was awesome! The vocals, music and the solos were frankly next level on this song. Nice to hear the clean vocals. Even the not so clean vocals were very articulate. I understood every word. Thanks guys! You made my morning.
Wow..what a band..you guys smoke it..best band I've heard musically and vocally in a long long time...I appreciate someone that remembers what music is supposed to sound like..excellent work Arch enemy!!!!
This song has the best of both worlds! The classic AE elements AND Alissa's great clean vocals. Bringing in those clean vocals is a brave move, and you nailed it in stryle. I love this.
Her cleans are magnifficent! Why it took them sooo damn long to finally include some clean vocals?? Now THIS is Arch Enemy I finally enjoy listening to🤘
The visuals are next level beyond anything I’ve seen, and Alissa’s blend of vocal styles gave me chills unrelated to the winter weather outside. This is a masterpiece.
Metalhead me: Wow, this song is incredible! Everything from the cleans to the growls and solos is just amazing! Woman me: Please tell me how to get the abs. I need that outfit.
The clean vocals holly shit!!! This song is perfect the last part at the end Amazing!!! 💙🤘🏼🔥 I already did my pre-order on the new vinyl record ltd!,, can’t wait!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥💙💙💙
Wow, In love with those vocals.. Seems Michael's lead playing is dominant in this one, at least Jeff got in that outer solo, hoping for a lot more guitar harmonies between both amazing guitarists in the near future, Jeff didnt even break a sweat with that solo, hope to use his talent more and more with the technical wizardry he possesses.
I use to listen to "We will rise" on a daily basis... that song is engrained into my brain forever... i love to see your new material and how you've evolved since then... You definitely have risen!!
OMG. This song is fucking amazing. Powerfull, epic, and the change from Allisas vocals from growling to clean voice, absolutely mindblowing. Great job.
Alissa, you will never read this, but I still want to say it is nice hearing “your” voice again! The first time I heard you was when the “Business Suits and Combat Boots” music video was released. The growl of a demon and the voice of an angel coming from one person shocked and amazed me. Please don’t go back to only growling. Your voice was the embodiment of dichotomy and was why I listened to those records over and over. Using both voice is what made you amazing in my eyes.
Love the touch that her clean vocals adds to the song. It's still catching me by surprise even after these 10 months and she's bloody amazing at mixing both the growls and clean vocals.
@@TheRisingofSeph ? it's still melodic death metal. It just added more contrast and made it even more powerful. Not to use Alissas beautiful cleans would be a waste of talent! One of AEs best songs for sure!
@@ytbr3383 right?! Like anyone would argue if Wintersun is melodic death or not just because Jari sings clean parts sometimes....Was never a fan of AE but digging this song and style. I am looking forward to the album
@@ytbr3383 the argument is more about him saying it's "one of their best songs" lol... anything post burning bridges is mediocre at best. they've just been copying wages of sin with some clayman (Amott must really love that album) thrown in again and again. some clean vocals are not gonna change that.
Yes...yes...YES....YES...finally! Yes! This is what I wanted to hear ever since she joined. The contrast, the power. The best of both worlds. Thank you!
I did not expect to hear some clean vocals on this song and I absolutely love the flare it adds to this song! I'm loving this direction AE is taking. I hope to one day get the chance to see them live.
I've seen them live back in 2018 in cologne, Germany. It's still my only concert I've seen even to this day but it was one of the best days in my life yet!
This is one of the best tracks I've heard from this band so far. Not only because finally Alyssa is allowed to use her whole vocal range, but also because sonically this track is quite diverse and original. A really nice listening.
New single is already up on Spotify. What I am really pleased with is the fact that they finally took advantage of Allisa's clean vocals the way they were supposed to. It almost sounds like two different bands. A much needed breath of fresh air.
This song is unreal front to back especially the guitar solos reminded me of dragonforce with that speed 😲 and when Alyssa stepped out the shadows, jesus don't think I've ever laid eyes on a human as beautiful as her 🥰🥰
The last solo actually is very similar (probably intentionally) to the one of "The Hive" by In Flames (another Swedish melodeath band). You should check that one out!
@@MrHaggyy not only the technique, as a guitarist, they sound very similar overall. AE uses a dominant scale which is just one note different to the standard minor which In Flames uses. Melody is very similar. Just compare them next to each other. It’s obviously sampled, and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. They come from the same genre and region in Sweden. I see it as a tribute to In Flames. I love both bands
Damn.... I finally understand why Angela picked Alissa as her replacement. This track is definently familiar territory to what made Me fall in love with the band in 2001. Lineup changes are inevitable thes days but damn.... you guys hit me right in the feelers, back with a vengeance and guitar gods still exist. Aaaaand I gotta say, there were a couple sections that I felt really embodied what angela made a staple vocally. 10/10
Finally they utilize Alissas voice more and bring some well needed shakeup to their sound. Ppl who don't like these kinda experiments will still have more than enough songs with classic AE sound. I for one love that they finally took this step^^
Couldn't agree more, she has a fantastic vocal range and it's been underutilized for a while. Been hoping for something like this that blends both cleans and growls. Definitely refreshing to hear them drop a song like this! Good change of pace
One thing I realise with some of these comments on here, you can't please everybody. I loved how they weren't frightened to mix it up a bit and I think she has beautiful vocals and obviously a beautiful woman (you definitely can't deny that). Definitely my favourite closely followed by Deceiver Deceiver.
With a healthy amount of clean vocals, this song takes me back to Alissa's days with her old band. I'm happy AE has gradually added some new elements with the past 3 albums!
Thank you ArchEnemy to finally get Alissa also to show this side of her. She is a great Growler, but she can also has a very pleasing clean voice and it is great that it can be heard again
Eagles fly alone
Arch Enemy won't regret using Alissa's full vocal range. The teaser in that one track gave me hell but man it's implemented nicely here. Here's to the fresh AE content!
About damn time. Arch Enemy is at peak dynamic performance now. You have a vocalist that can deliver on all fronts and a lead player that can literally play anything with the already exceptional backbone of the band. Yes
Musicly this was pure awesomeness. Vocally, finally Alissa in all of her vocal glory is unleashed and it's perfection. Great song guys, thirst for whole album is real....
WTF! Arch Enemy Fan for 16 years now, and damn, this is GREAT. Awesome to see that Bands still exist that are like good wine. Getting better and better with the years!! Can't wait for the new album
Alissa sounds incredible with her cleans..they should do more songs like this one..Michael rippin' it on guitar, and drums are insane..they're giving that heavy metal vibe with music but i prefer music like their past single Deceiver :)
The Clean vocals, not to mention the growls, the solos, the intro, everything here is perfect, the only actual "bad" thing is that at one point it ends... :(
I met Alissa after the show in Tampa and told her exactly what these comments are echoing. And obviously it's not entirely her call here what she adds to the music (being Michaels band)... I did say this song is really what brought me back to the band and wanting to see them live.
Loving the vocal agility - so envious of whoever gets to see this live because it will be *wild*. I love the contrast clean/grit/growl from a narrative perspective and everyone is rocking in the video. Nice one, folks.
This is the song that got me into them…better late than never but it goes to show that bands can still capture new fans at any point in their career! 🤘

Good on Arch enemy for having the guts to let her clean vocals shine here. If it fits the song, use it. \m/

Alissa showing her full power as a vocalist. She slays on both sides. Mad respect!
This song is one of the many lyrics secretly written about me & Chip, and we (me & Chip) are The Supreme Leader selected to lead the New World soon after the system change -- I reflect the Moon / Luna etc and The Star / The Stars etc and I am The Supreme Being and I represent The Angel & The Demon, and so does Chip aka the man who protects me, as he also represents an angel & demon at the same time and The Reaper / Grim Reaper and The Sun and The Devil etc secretly referenced in this song and in many other newer songs!
The misused big term respect must be edited out, as in the new system, all term/name/compliment (and unsuitable item) misuse is to be banned, as are all other wrong things -- humans cannot misuse words that are or start with/include/end in a fruit/food/flower related word or a compliment/number/light related term or a season/color/nature related term or a big/astral/gemstone term or names of months/days of week etc or any other terms that reflect that which is above/of power/absolute/supreme/precious etc in their name...
The songs God Is A 'Woman' and Dark Horse and I Am Not A Woman, I Am A God are about me , and the songs Pan and Whoever Brings The Night and Eva and Cadence Of Her Last Breath etc by Nightwish, Achingly Beautiful by CoF, Not Human Kind by Eyes of Eden, The Bee and Silver Bride by Amorphis, and Medusa by Tarja and the song Heart Of Glass etc are also some of the songs that were written about me, while the ClA also made sure to include subtle clues and references to me in many other songs as well!
The songs Ghost And The Reaper and My Sweet Mystery by The Dark Element and the song Infinity are about me and my protector Chip, while the songs Cool For The Summer (written from my perspective) and Dangerous 'Woman' (written from Chip's perspective) and Confident (about how I sometimes see Chip as an enemy) are about my thoughts about my lover Chip.
The songs Diamonds and When It All Comes Down and Neon Lights and Only Girl In The World and Euphoria and Alpha & Omega by Swarm and Young Gods and 34 + 35 (and all other similar lyrics that include words like down under and sweet and fruit/food/flower terms and big terms and cake etc) and many of the recent mainstream pop songs that include numbers and big terms and compIiments and food/fruit related terms etc are based on my story with my protectors, and the songs The Dark Element and Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Shoemaker and Endlessness and Digital Deceit etc include references to me, and the songs Yours Is An Empty Hope and Weak Fantasy and Tribal by NW and Kingdom Come and Paradise Of The Architect are about me and Chip and the new system, as are the songs Parasite by Anette and The Signal 🔥 and World Ablaze by KsE...
Most songs (and most movies etc) made over the past decades are either inspired by me & Chip and our stories that the agency decided for us or they contain subtle references to me & Chip and The New World that they included on purpose -- including most songs sung by Gaga (Dance In The Dark, Lovegame, Perfect Illusion, Judas, Poker Face etc) and the songs Summertime Sadness and Cheap Thrills and Strange Love (also most other songs sung by Halsey) and most songs by Blackbriar (which were secretly inspired by me/elements that reflect me) and most songs by Epica and The Dark Element (which contain secret references to us and to the New World) and most songs by Nightwish (the newer ones since DPP are directly about me & Chip aka the heavenly spy referenced in Weak Fantasy and the new/totalitarian system aka The Keystone Earth / The Night / The Great Escape / The Dark / The Kingdom Come etc, while the oIder ones are directly and indirectly inspired by me and Disney characters that reflect me) and songs like Vermillion 1 & 2 and Ice Queen and Digital Deceit (most After Forever songs contain secret references to me included by the ClA) and the songs Rich Girl and Piece Of Me and Lucky (secretly about me The Star / The Stars and the 'lucky' one and the life of total isolation/lonelines decided for me by the ClA since day one) and the 'Love' The Way You Lie songs and Skyscraper and Hot & Cold and Love Me Harder (most other songs sung by those 2 singers and most songs sung by Demi include more than one subtle reference to me that the ClA included) and the song One & Only (most songs sung by Adele contain secret references to me and things that reflect me, and they are written with a heartbreak/sadness theme) and the song Nymphetamine (secretly inspired by me The Nymph, while most CoF lyrics are indirectly about me, as they are inspired by mythological characters that only reflect me) the song Daylight by Eyes Of Eden and, pretty much all of these newer songs that were made over the past decade contain at least one reference or a few subtle references to me/words that reflect me & Chip that the agency included on purpose, as a sign of ownership and to show my importance...

This would be the perfect balance between new musical areas and the brutal roots of Arch Enemy.

But my hype is still absolute real!
Edit: My pre-order is done.

I sure hope not
I mean, look: Johann and also Angela didn't sing clean.

Eagles fly alone
I just can't wait any longer to hear Alissa's Death Growl scream. Hell Yeah‼️Let's make it happen ARCH🤘🔥🖤
Me tooooo...
Arch Enemy won't regret using Alissa's full vocal range.
The teaser in that one track gave me hell but man it's implemented nicely here. Here's to the fresh AE content!
The combination with the clean voice is awesome!. Please do more songs like this one!.
Nice! Alissa has such a nice clear voice and finally it's in a song like this. I personally wanna hear it more often like this 🥰
absolutely love that shes doing clean vocals along with it she has an insane range !!!! love this band
I love hearing Alyssa sing like when she sang Swan Lake a Capella. Delicate, strong and masculine all at once. Simply amazing.
It's nice to see Michael go nuts like that, but I would love to see them let Jeff loose. Maybe more on the rest of the album
@@daviddelesoy931 dont have too high hopes, i have a feeling Jeff will be extremely underutilized again. Jeff's solo here is good though
Just when I thought I couldn't love this band anymore than I already do.. they have to go ahead and blow my mind again!
This is the song that got me into them…better late than never but it goes to show that bands can still capture new fans at any point in their career! 🤘
Same here 🤘 Got me into them and melodic death metal in general 🖤
