    I'm sorry you're going through all this meanness. Don't apologize for who you are; not for your illness,not for the stuff you've already gone through with your channel! There are lots of us out here who do appreciate you, who understand how hard it is to have a chronic illness and do any art, much less run a RUclips channel. Keep going, prove the nay-sayers wrong and keep being you!

    Glad to know you're slowly getting through your artblock. Doing other crafty/artsy things like the jewelry and crochet is a great way to put your mind at ease and regroup. You seem to be living in such a beautiful area. I hope to be able to go back to the country within a year or two. Been living in the city for 15 years and as much as I like the proximity of everything, I miss the country a lot these days.

    I tried both faber castelle and Windsor newton. I liked Windsor Newton better, they seemed to soften easier and show less lines also the colors they offered were more to my liking, they offered softer shades. Faber Castelle colors seemed real bright

    Enjoyed the video. I love seeing the beautiful outdoors. I live in Colorado, am very lucky, so you'd think I'd be up in the mountains all the time. I'll only a 10 minute drive away. Hey ive made a cheap diy plain air set up using 2 foam boards cut to size. They are attached by clips the bottom board has my sketchbook and paper blocks on and the bottom board protudes out top of first board that has magnetic tape on to hold my palettes. I have a clip on water jar and attach a cloth for cleaning my brush. I have a foldable stool and a fold up board for sitting on hard surfaces. Also a pencil case with my extra things and a bottle of water and im sorted. It works well for me but i dont work in acrylics or oils but it might help your scetchbook set up.

    Great video, Amy! I do like the Faber-Castell. I haven't tried the Windsor-Newton, but I've heard good things about them. My hubby gifted me some Sailor Shikiori, and they are great. The fine nib side is great for detail, and they move really well when you add water, but they are only great for sketchbooks as they are, I believe, dye-based ink.

    The Faber-Castell watercolor markers work so much better on 100% watercolor paper. It's night and day difference, honestly. I used them in my Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbook, Bee Watercolor Paper and the Baohong Academy watercolor paper and they behaved the best with the Baohong. I haven't tried the W&N, but I do enjoy the Faber-Castell. I love the way the spread turned out in your sketchbook! Also, the oil painting that you weren't sure if you were done with has a lovely impressionist look to it!

    Glad to hear that things are looking up for you! How nice to get outside painting. I am another person who pretty much has to wear gloves when I do acrylics. For some reason as soon as I pull those paints out, its everywhere! Oh, I love those watercolor markers. I have a handful of them. As well as using them as a marker, you can also use them as watercolor. I scribble on my palette (which is often just a white sheet of paper in a page protector cause I mostly use them camping), then add water with either a paintbrush or small sprayer. Instant watercolor blob!

If you get the wooden panels from Hobby Lobby, the cost would be minimal. 🤔 I’ve always had to figure out work arounds because art supplies are ridiculously expensive. 9And people joke about starving artist 😏…. ) I find it a fun challenge. Amy I did the same thing with the markers - checking to avoid dupes but I got them anyway. Then I read a note on the order site that said manufacturer may make substitutions if particular colors are not available and that is how I got my duplicates. Bummer! I'm still getting used to playing with them and they do make me loosen up a lot. I got the Winsor Newton landscape set as well and I do like them maybe more because of the color choices in that set.

    Nice work with those watercolour markers - I don't think any of the various types of markers are for me, but it's always great to see different mediums being used by someone who knows what they're doing. It's also good to hear that your starting to get back to 'the zone' again when doing your own work and seem to be getting past this latest bout of art block - long may it continue! Thanks for an interesting video - kind regards, Brian.

    1 oz condiment cups with lids will probably fit better in your box….as long as you spritz a drop of water in and put lids on, your acrylics will not dry out… see Sandi Hester’s acrylic paint pot ideas. Just an idea….it works for me

      I do use that for my acrylics! I stole that idea from her last year and I love it! But for plein air painting, I like to work with paints more like oil paints, which I why I like the golden open. They stya wet on the canvas up to 3 whole days! They are great! Blick sells Masterpiece Panel Porter bars to carry plein air paintings. The bars are sold in pairs, so you buy 2 pairs in the sizes you need. Cost ranges from $10 to $13 per pair, so a carrier costs less than $25. You can buy multiple sizes and then combine them in the variation that you need for a painting session rather than having to buy complete carriers for every size panel you might want to carry.

    • @winterwoodsstudio
      @winterwoodsstudio  Месяц назад

      I saw that but they have super bad reviews on the blick website so I didn't order them. Have you bought them? We're they ok?

    • @CC-hc6bl
      @CC-hc6bl Месяц назад

      @@winterwoodsstudioI have 2 sizes - 16x20 and 11x14. For plein air I use egg tempera on claybord panels. I have not had any issues. I do not use the ‘screws’ for the tops, but use some wire so that I can use the wire as a handle. As a result I am not having to manage the screw fasteners in the field, nor am I doing a lot of doing/undoing the screws so haven’t had any splitting issues from tightening too frequently or too much. I find the wood and corner connections similar to stretcher bars - not smooth wood, and corners can be a little tight initially but again, not unlike stretcher bars. They are not highly polished wood, though you could probably sand and wax a little if that was a concern. Not fancy but for me they get the job done.

Last year I ended up doing six commissions, pet portraits, and I haven't really done anything since. I have a very good friend whose brother just passed away. He was a professional oil painter and spent many hours in his work studio. He used turpentine. It made him very very sick. He got Alzheimer’s and other medical conditions that eventually took his life.
    I’m sharing to help others be aware of the danger that can potentially happen. I personally would not use any harsh solvents if I were an oil painter. This man was in his late 60’s. Much too young to pass away so early.

      Turpentine is awful! I totally agree! Nobody should be using it in this day amd age. There are much safer things to use know, and you can painting with oil paints without using thinner at all! There are several different methods and they are all great! Thanks for the safety reminder!

    Hi Amy, I have never heard of watercolor markers not being use on watercolor paper...I mean they are watercolor markers. If you would like a tip, a few years back I bought the full set of these markers and another set at Jacksons which came in a nice wallet with additional items. It turns out I got the Artist Pitt Pen Markers which are new in the US but because I got them at Jacksons during the summer they were not release here in the US. All of them are lightfast but the Pitt Pen Markers also has the brush tip but has the pen on the other side and the wallet is awesome. You can wait on Black Friday Sales which they get reduce to 90 dollars for this full wallet set of Pitt Pen Markers. Also the Pitt Penn Markers when dry are permanent! P.S I also got the W &N watercolor markers which come in a wallet got them also through amazon end of the year a few years back and they are ok but not as good as Faber Castell. Try them out and see what you think. You should make a video on jewelry making on this channel. I have kit on Jewelry Making that I got but have not come around to use it.
