This fantastic composer was teacher of many others who taught prominent figures in more contemporary music such: Sergei Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Arthur Rubinstein, Daniel Barenboim and many other pianists still alive today. We can conclude that, in addition to being an amazing composer, Czerny was a remarkable musical pedagogue, perhaps influencing many of the elements of these teaching “chains” that were established during long time. Let’s not forget his close friendship with Beethoven that definitely influenced your music.
This concerto for four hands is of magnificent beauty, with one admirable harmony between the sound of the two instruments ensemble. This masterpiece in all its movements is of subtlety and an unsurpassable grandeur. The two pianists are superb in sensitivity and manage to extract a deep and admirable sound from the instruments. The orchestra and its direction are magnificent. Viva Czerny and his unrivaled music. Thanks for this recording and for the incredible pleasure it gives us.

My piano teacher makes us play the Czerny School of Velocity studies, starting when we are in grade 4 or 5. In the last few years, my teacher has made me play some Chopin etudes. They were much harder and more interesting. First, I was assigned "The Bee", which I played at Technique Olympics, and my grade 10 exam. Now, I an playing Waterfall and Revolutionary, which torture the right hand and left hand, respectively. I had to do a lot of drilling and slow motion work.

The Article below was written by The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica. Copyright Encyclopaedia Britannica All Rights Reserved.
Carl Czerny, (born February 21, 1791, Vienna, Austria-died July 15, 1857, Vienna), Austrian pianist, teacher, and composer known for his pedagogical works for the piano.
He studied piano, first with his father, Wenzel Czerny, and later with Ludwig van Beethoven and knew and was influenced by Muzio Clementi and Johann Nepomuk Hummel. He began teaching in Vienna at age 15; among his pupils were Franz Liszt and Beethoven’s nephew, as well as other celebrated pianists. His published compositions number nearly 1,000 and include ingenious arrangements for eight pianos, four hands each, of two overtures of Gioachino Rossini.
Czerny’s lasting influence, however, was in his piano studies, which were greatly esteemed by teachers for generations to come. These include the School of Velocity, the School of Virtuosity, and the School of the Left Hand. These exacting sets of graded exercises were still being widely used in the early 21st century. Czerny also left a valuable essay on performing the piano sonatas of Beethoven. He published an autobiographical sketch, Erinnerungen aus meinem Leben (1842; “Memories from My Life”).

It is no reason to call him an asshole, which can only lower the tone of the entire experience of listening to the concerto and reading people's comments.

6 In total. And there are very interesting combinations like concerto for 2 pianos and 6 hands. Probably 1 piano would have 2 people to emulate the orchestra and the other would be the "soloist". He also wrote 6 symphonies iirc

Czerny wrote everything - from etudes to sonatas to chamber works to symphonies and masses...he just didn't write an opera. He was a man who wrote music at the speed he demanded them played. :)

Beautiful piece! Speaking of pieces, what is the painting put up for the entirety of the video? I am well aware that it is Cambodia's Angkor Wat, but I am not sure who painted it.

Always wondered why good composers such as this are neglected and awful rubbish is promoted, such as Webern and Schoenberg and Britten.

    • @davebarclay4429
      @davebarclay4429 3 года назад +1

Webern, Schoenberg and Britten certainly aren't "rubbish" let alone "awful rubbish". Their music may not be to your taste, which is absolutely fine, but Webern and Schoenberg are significant figures in European musical history, of much greater importance than Czerny. Britten was less innovative but he is still a major British composer, arguably the most important since Elgar. Before condemning Schoenberg outright listen to Verklärte Nacht and Pelleas und Melisande, two beautiful late Romantic masterworks which could easily be by someone like Richard Strauss.

@@davebarclay4429 You are ,of course< entitled to your opinion as i am to mine and i think that they are rubbish. I,m not saying that everyone must agree with me and if you like them thats fine.
